FROM THE BOORTZ BLAST

I usually include a joke or two from a newsletter called THE BOORTZ BLAST which comes out roughly every two weeks.

Most of the jokes in this edition were stale. The best bit of humor in the lot was:

ONE ITALIAN'S SECRET TO LONG MARRIED LIFE

At the session last week, the priest asked Giuseppe, who said he was approaching his 50th wedding anniversary, to take a few minutes and share some insight into how he had managed to stay married to the same woman all these years.

Giuseppe replied to the assembled husbands, 'Wella, I'va tried to treat her nicea, spenda da money on her, but besta of all is, I tooka her to Italy for the 25th anniversary!'

The priest responded, 'Giuseppe, you are an amazing inspiration to all the husbands here! Please tell us what you are planning for your wife for your 50th anniversary?'

Giuseppe proudly replied, " I gonna go pick her up."

ERICK ERICKSON NAILS THE SPLOST TO THE WALL

”The SPLOST is merely the latest example of unyielding dysfunction in Bibb County. Investing in the growth of government has not nearly the economic impact as investing in the private sector, but that’s what Bibb County leaders do. They expand the public sector without thought toward expanding the private sector, except for tourists. They like those.”

NewTown Macon, The Bibb County Commissioners, the political twin damp fire starters of Lucas and Lucas, and anybody else pushing the Bibb County SPLOST in Tuesday’s election are running scared. ‘terrified’ would be a better choice of words. The vote is very much in question, due primarily to poor planning on the part of the politicians, and series of calculated errors on the part of major supporters and donors.

The people are tired of taxes and always more taxes.

The people are tired of being led around by the nose by those who think they know what is good for them.

The people are tired of duplicity, chicanery, and plain old fraud on the part of our elected leaders.

Throw the bums out, but defeat the SPLOST first.

Some of you will remember that I supported Charlie Bishop for re-election to the County Chairmanship. Don’t more of you wish you had listened to me then? Sam Hart is little more than a honey tongued, avuncular snake oil salesman.

In an Op-Ed piece appearing today in THE MACON T’GRAPH, Councilman and political pundit Erickson lays out the case for voting against the Special Option Sales Tax. While it will create jobs to be sure, those jobs will not go to local residents. That was proven when we built the new hotel on the wrong side of the street last winter.

Erickson’s piece is titled “ERICKSON: A Matter Of Splost And Community” and can be accessed directly at: http://www.macon.com/2010/07/16/1197113/a-matter-of-splost-and-comm.html?pageNum=2&mi_pluck_action=page_nav#Comments_Container#ixzz0typtiGRF

If you live and vote in Bibb County this should be required reading.

LET’S TALK ABOUT
NULLIFICATION

If I am not there already, this column will begin the process of adding my name to the Federal Government’s “Enemies List”.

That sounds a little like McCarthyism, update that to 2010 and call it “Terrorist List”. That’s because I stand four-square against the burgeoning powers assumed by the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. A city out of touch with the majority of the citizenry.

I get confused sometimes but over the past few years this old bastard has seen such a growth in the power of the federal government that our Constitution, and the rights belonging to both the fifty states and the individual homo sap have become swalloed up in the largest power grab in human history…well, at least since the founding of the Roman Empire.

It takes time and effort, but the states can ‘nullify’ actions of the federal government if they violate the constitution or are not enumerated as powers surrendered by the states to the central authority in that constitution.

This subject will take some time…might even be ongoing over several months. But for now let’s start off with two You Tube videos. The first is a segment from INTERVIEW WITH A ZOMBIE featuring the well-known author Dr. Thomas Woods, an expert on the Constitution and Nulification. The other is a segment from FOX by my favorite jurist, Judge Andrew Nepolitano.

Who is the Zombie? He’s a kind of everypol, a politician wrapped up in the rampant stupidity that marks the American population 0f the twenty-first century.

Click on and enjoy (or not….that’s up to you):

THE N.A.A.C.P.,
America’s Political Dinosaur
ATTACKS THE TEA PART MOVEMENT

”Of course, desperate times call for desperate measures, and the NAACP is going back to an old playbook. The NAACP is resorting to the Jacksonian (Jesse, not Andrew) ploy to use the race card (a) to rally blacks to the mid-terms; and (b) to intimidate the mainstream media, so that it doesn’t report critically on a liberal administration, urging it instead to focus on the perceived sins of the Tea Party movement.”

Desperate? Absolutely!! The times we live in a desperate; divisive politics, whether socio-economic or racial, only make it more so.

I spent an informative hour with the Lew Rockwell dot COM newsletter this morning. One piece in particular caught my attention. It’s called “THE TEA PARTY ISN’T RACIST” by the respected scholar, Tunku Varadarajan, and can be read right here: http://www.lewrockwell.com/spl2/tea-party-isnt-racist.html

The thesis is simple. The NAACP, as well as the likes of Jesse Jackson, can no longer blame ‘the man’ in the Oval Office for the ills that plague this nation. ‘The man’, of course, is one of them and must never be discredited.

But a scapegoat must be found. The obvious one is that amorphous gaggle of the disenchanted known popularly as THE TEA PARTY.

So, taking its cue from the President himself, his wife had addressed the convention the day before the vote, the organization zeroed in on the Tea Party Movement, condemning racial elements therein.

Of course there is blatant racism among some members of the T.P.M, but there are blatant racists in the N.A.A.C.P. also. The point is well taken that there are more Blacks among the former than Whites within the ranks of the latter.

The president is in trouble politically, that’s a given. The Democrats, true to form, are (and will) pull ye olde race card every chance they can. It’s a tried and true formula: unites minorities behind the party, and makes most liberal whites feel the stirrings of racial guilt pangs.

Somehow I think the tactic won’t work as well as it has in the past. There doesn’t seem to be a hell of a lot of racial guilt among the grassroots movement that is the Tea Party.
