AND WHO FOR GOVERNOR?
Our political system in Georgia has some flaws, but when it comes to registering to vote we beat the other states hands down.
We don’t register by party. That means when we walk into a polling place during a primary election, we can declare that we want to vote REPUBLICAN or DEMOCRAT and then get to vote for that party. I have voted both as a Democrat and as a member of the GOP in primaries, changing from year to year. Why? Because I can support candidates I deem worthy of my vote, or use that ballot to help nail down the coffin of some slimeball pol who has earned my ire.
Great!!! Next Tuesday I will walk in to the local high school and ask for a REPUBLICAN ballot so that I can vote for (drum roll, please) KAREN HANDEL for governor.
The leader of the pack is our insurance commish, a career clod named John Oxendine. I have met this character twice now, once at a gun show. He is running as the ultimate conservative, but, and this is a mighty big but, the man does not look you in the eye when he talks. Can’t stand that…it is a sign of weakness, sneakiness, cowardice, and just plain guilt over something dishonest in his immediate past. What is the source of that guilt? Damned if I know, but a man’s posture and countenance do not lie even when he does.
Sorry, John, but my vote goes to MS. KAREN HANDEL Good luck, good lady.
If I were voting Democrat I would vote for General Poythress who does not stand a snowball’s chance in hell in the face of the Barnes’ steamroller. Who wants that once disgraced ex-governor back in office?
It would be a little like returning C. Hakim Jack Mansour Ellis to the Macon mayorship.
