BONNIE AND CLYDE
and
ELAINE AND DAVID

Since the SPLOST rhetoric has been heating up in our sleepy little Southern city astride the turgid Ocmulgee, a great deal misinformation has made the local rounds.

For instance after Elaine Lucas, long serving council member, four square in favor of the penny added tax and her husband, State Representative David Lucas, recently hired by NewTown Macon to spread the good word about the bad, fatally flawed SPLOST, certain wags (and you know who you are) about town have been laughing up their sleeves, referring to the pair as Macon’s very own Bonnie and Clyde.

Terrible!!! Nothing could be further from the truth. Bonnie and Clyde were nothing more than small town yokels, glorified and romanticized by ignorant, undereducated hicks captivated by their successful bank heists and daring-do.

Here are a couple of video clips, musical paeans to the notorious couple (Bonnie and Clyde, not Elaine and David). Hope you check them out. And hope you like them:

I do not like this 'YES WE CAN'.

I do not like this spending spree,
I'm smart, I know that nothing's free.

I do not like your smug replies,

I do not like it.
Nope, nope, nope!
And I plan to vote, vote, vote!

A LIBERTARIAN LOOKS AT
McDONALD v CHICAGO
and
DRAWS CONCLUSIONS THAT MAY SURPRISE YOU

”The Bill of Rights was never intended to give Americans rights; it was designed to protect their rights from infringement by the new and powerful central government under the Constitution.”

For the most part, the folks who write about firearms have been very restrained, showing very few idiotic outbursts of unfettered enthusiasm for the Supreme Court’s 5/4 decision in the McDonald v. Chicago.

And this is a good thing, because the decision, as pro gun as it seems, might actually lead to increasing levels of control by a central government over what we assume are our fundamental ‘rights’.

An article appeared in this morning’s LEW ROCKWELL dot COM that many will find interesting. It sure grabbed my attention some time during the 5 A.M. hour.

The writer is Lawrence Vance. The piece is called “GUN LIBERTY and MCDONALD”. It can be accessed directly here: http://www.lewrockwell.com/vance/vance208.html

The subject is complicated. Mr. Vance tackles it head-on without undo ‘legalese’. The problem is not that SCOTUS allows us to own firearms, but rather that it permits the federal government, the states, the local municipalities to impose restrictions un-numbered on that right.

As always, the creeping power of government is ever a threat and must be resisted even in light of what seems to be a clear victory for an individual’s gun rights.
