We have had to move up the publication of our gunclub's newsletter and editing duties will consume my time until the weekend.

ONE PRINCIPAL'S ADVICE TO PARENTS
RE: SOCIAL NETWORK SITES

My youngest turned forty last year, so the only patter of littlle feet around herecomes from a half dozen felines.

But were I actively parenting, I think I would try to follow the advice of a New Jersey Middle School Principal who sent an email out to the parents of his students urging them to monitor closely their children's activities on the computer, places like facebook especially.

Me? I have sent a copy of the email to my kids to help in dealing with their kids.

WHAT ARE THEY SMOKING OVER AT THE MACON T’GRAPH?

Perhaps you will recall that, a few days back, I sent in to our local daily a ‘prayer’ designed to be ironic, sarcastic, funny (if you are not an ‘uberchristian’), and penetrating. It is reproduced here:

Dear Almighty god,

Did I teach Senator Levin To Use Language Fit Only For The Outhouse?

Levin fired off “sh**y deal” a whopping TEN — I'm sorry, ELEVEN — TIMES, sounding more like South Park's resident ranter Eric Cartman than a U.S. senator. http://www.cnbc.com/id/36804679

At least I might have taught the good Senator to use language inappropriate for a Senate conference room.

An old girlfriend many, many years ago told me the morning after a fraternity party, “I have heard all those words before, but not in so many interesting combinations.” I also spent a year at the University of Michigan, Carl Levin’s home state.

It is possible that something might have rubbed off on that public servant.

The Senator needs to work on his ‘interesting combinations’.

2.. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

3. I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

4. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.

5. A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him 'Why do you carry a 45?' The Ranger responded, 'Because they don't make a 46..'

6. The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. 'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?' 'No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my shotgun.'

7. Beware the man who only carries one gun. HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!!!

But wait, there's more!

I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. I said I did. She said 'Well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!' To which I said, of course it is loaded, it can't work without bullets!' She then asked, 'Are you that afraid of someone evil coming into your house?' My reply was, “No not at all. I am not afraid of the house catching fire either, but I have fire extinguishers around, and they are all loaded too”.

Proponents of the SECOND AMENDMENT are well aware that elements both in The United States and abroad will stop at nothing to take away our Constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms.

OBAMA’S STRATEGY IN 2010

Found a brief but important article in Politico dot com this A.M., complete with a video clip. Which explains how Obama and his faithful followers plan to approach this November’s election.

The plan is to unite the coalition O feels responsible for his election in 2008: Hispanics, Blacks, Women, and young people.

It sounds a little pie-in-the-sky from where we sit, and will depend largely how effectively the GOP will use the energy galvanized by numerous ‘reforms’ by the party in power and the ‘Tea Party’ movement from the loyal opposition. Will the GOP do what it does locally here in Bibb County, simply ‘roll over and play dead’?

Yours truly was jarred awake early this morning by a column writ large by our favorite college teacher, Mike Adams of UNC-Wilmington.

It consisted of a series of emails he (allegedly) sent to an outfit called REVOLUTION MUSLIM, whose blog/website can be accessed here: http://revolutionmuslim.blogspot.com/

The point of these letters? Simple!! Poor Prof. Mike writes pointed posts about extremist Muslims and he can’t even work up a good jihad or a fatwa aimed his way.

Funny stuff. Like all good satire, lots of truth underlying the surface rhetoric.

And believe me I know the feeling. I have published anti-extremist Muslim articles on this b’log, and it has garnished me neither death threats nor public diatribe. Of course I have had a couple of local Muslims threaten to ‘beat my ass’, but that comes from guys who grew up Baptist and converted to Islam while in prison. That’s more like being threatened by Gangsta Wannabes, which happens fairly regularly.

Our local daily, like every Southern Newspaper, invites its readers to submit a prayer which is printed on the LETTERS segment of each day's edition.

Thought I would try my hand at it, so a few days ago I submitted the following:

EVERYBODY DRAW MOHAMMED DAY

Remember the Danish cartoonists’ efforts at drawing AND publishing images (mostly satirical) of the Prophet Mohammed?

Remember the death threats and groundswell of pure bile arising from large segments of Muslim believers?

Remember the gruesome murder of Dutch filmmaker, Theo Van Gogh in 2004? (Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theo_van_Gogh_(film_director)#Death )? The Muslim who slew him is doing a life stretch in a Dutch lockup, which, I am told, is not a pleasant way to spend forty years. Europeans don’t seem to have anything like our CLUB FED.

Muslim outrage! Muslim sensitivity!! Extremes of Muslin violence? Southpark?

Southpark? You mean that cool cartoon we watch on Comedy Central and Thou Tube? Yes, that same Southpark, whose editors have been threatened with violence via extremist. Muslim Blogs. That Southpark. Don’t want to end up like Van Gogh, after all.

A cartoonist in Seattle, a certain Molly Norris, has declared May 20th. “EVERYBODY DRAW MOHAMMED DAY”, and is getting the ball rolling on her b’log and through local Talk Radio.

This b’log, THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO LUKE, once published all twelve cartoons drawn by a dozen, brave Danish satirists. Sadly, when I dropped AOL, the pictures (and many others) fell from THE GOSPEL like scales from a pre-prandial fish. But they are there in spirit. We are not afraid of a few kookie radicals be they Muslim extremists not local Bangers of Gang who regularly infest our neighborhoods like fleas.

They have run out of virgins in Islamic paradise anyway, so says one cartoon character (Mohammed himself, mihi videtur. Just not worth murdering or suicide bombing in the mane of Allah anymore, is it?

ONE MAN'S JOURNEY THROUGH LIFE

When I was 13, I hoped that one day I would have a girlfriend with big boobs. When I was 16 I got a girlfriend with big boobs, but there was no passion, so I decided I needed a passionate girl with a zest for life.

In college I dated a passionate girl, but she was too emotional. Everything was an emergency; she was a drama queen, cried all the time and threatened suicide. So I decided I needed a girl with stability.

When I was 25 I found a very stable girl but she was boring. She was totally predictable and never got excited about anything. Life became so dull that I decided that I needed a girl with some excitement.

When I was 28 I found an exciting girl, but I couldn't keep up with her. She rushed from one thing to another, never settling on anything. She did mad impetuous things and made me miserable as often as happy. She was great fun initially and very energetic, but directionless. So I decided to find a girl with some real ambition.

When I turned 30, I found a smart ambitious girl with her feet planted firmly on the ground, so I married her. She was so ambitious that she divorced me and took everything I owned.

I am older and wiser now, and I am looking for a girl with big boob

STRIKING TERROR AT SCHOOL

”One of the most chilling spectacles ever to confront a Houston middle school functionary recently turned the legs of Taylor Trostle’s math teacher to jelly.

And her heart to stone.”


Wow!!!…chilling stuff. Chilling, indeed.

The reality was even more frightening. Seems that a middle school girl, the above Taylor Trostle, and some of her friends were playing cops and robbers in a classroom before the bell rang. Taylor had folded her mitts in the shape of a hand held pistol, aimed it at some signs on the blackboard, and fired an imaginary volley….just as the teacher turned around. Poor Ms. Wormsucker was scared to death, reported the incident, and young Taylor was treated like a criminal and sent home for several days.

Fitting punishment in a Zero Tol, moronic school system. This one happened to be in Houston, Texas.

SENATE VOTES DOWN VAT TAX
News From Herman Cain

Senate Overwhelmingly Rejects Idea of Value-Added Tax

The Senate went on record Thursday as overwhelmingly opposed to a value-added tax. They approved a resolution by 85-13 declaring the penalty a "massive tax increase that will cripple families on fixed income."

In the Senate, twelve Democrats and one Republican voted against the resolution, which was sponsored by Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republican.

In the House, the democrats and the liberal media continue to talk about a VAT so we will still have to monitor this issue in case they try to sneak it through.

The 13 Senators that voted FOR the VAT, which would be another tax ON TOP OF all of the other taxes that we are already paying are as follows:

JUST ANOTHER REASON TO DETEST THE UNITED NATIONS

I have always said that the United Nations and its spending ways make our own Democrat Party and its high spending ways look like a Baptist Church choir shopping for used hymnals.

WOW…all dough raised in the immediate aftermath of the ‘quake is not getting to the poor, suffering bastards who really need it.

The United States, of course, is being stuck for the largest share of this financial fiasco.

I have little or no use for the United Nations. It’s very presence brings to our shores more spys and their networks than any nation should have to endure. What was once thought to be a naïve idealist’s vision of a body politic bent on preserving international peace and the brotherhood of man, has degenerated into a bloated, self-perpetuating monster that exists primarily to serve the ends of quirky little states that hate the host country.

That’s us.

Don’t kick the UN out of our country. Just move it. North Dakota, would be nice, especially in the winter. How about the waterless, desert Southwest. My favorite, and I have said this before, location for the U.N. would be to move the whole thing, kit and kaboodle (without that lovely building) to the swamps of south Louisiana, swamps rich in bugs, nutria, ‘gators, and all manner of poisonous snakes. Let them do their dirty business in an atmosphere more conducive to simple survival of the fittest.

PATRIOTS' DAY

Ran the Boston Marathon this morning and had to hustle to get back home in time for the six o'clock WMAZ ews. Barely made it.

Kind of out of breath right this minute. Will get back to my b'log later tonight or first thing in the morning.

Remember, in 1775 on this day, April 19th. was fired the shot heard round the world.

BANG THE GANG SLOWLY

We have had, in our peaceful little neighborhood, an incident of criminal gang activity yesterday evening. Our first real event of its type.

I had retired for the night shortly before 10:00 PM. Five minutes past the hour came a series of loud, frantic rapping on my front door. When opened, in rushed a neighbor’s seventeen-year-old who had, but moments before, been assaulted by three gang members on his father’s front porch. One of the trio had rung the doorbell while the other two hid themselves behind brick pillars. The young man was attacked, punched twice with closed fist, and escaped to my door.

Before he ran the trio promised to return with many more gang members, enter the house, assault both the kid’s parents and him.

The family under threat is white; the attacking triplets are black.

I called the police. A young officer arrived within three minutes. He promptly took charge, interviewed the assaulted youngster and his mother. The policeman remained on point most of the night; I stepped up my own patrols until the wee early hours. The neighborhood watch was alerted.

Our little neighborhood watch has established a successful partnership with the men and women of the local police precinct. It is, I think, the primary reason we have been able to stave off and thwart most crime and other gang activity in the immediate area.

Working with the police, acting as their eyes and ears within the neighborhood, pinpointing suspicious persons and activity is helping keep us safe and relatively secure in uncertain times.

If you live in an urban or suburban area, and do not have a Neighborhood Watch organization, I strongly recommend that you set one up ASAP. It puts the bad guys at one hell of a disadvantage.

YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK

Sent in by a dear friend and fellow firearms enthusiast. Makes perfect sense to me, eh?


A fellow stopped at a rural gas station and, after filling his tank, he paid
the bill and bought a soft drink. He stood by his car to drink his cola, and
he watched a couple of men working along the roadside.

One man would dig a hole two or three feet deep and then move on. The other
man came along behind and filled in the hole. While one was digging a new
hole, the other was 25 feet behind filling in the old.

The men worked right past the fellow with the soft drink and went on down
the
road. "I can't stand this," said the man, tossing the can into a trash
container and headed down the road toward the men.

"Hold it, hold it," he said to the men. "Can you tell me what's going on
here with this digging?"

"Well, we work for the government," one of the men said.
"But one of you is digging a hole and the other fills it up. You're not
accomplishing anything. Aren't you wasting the taxpayers' money?"

"You don't understand, mister," one of the men said, leaning on his shovel
and wiping his brow. "Normally there's three of us: me, Rodney, and Mike. I
dig the hole, Rodney sticks in the tree, and Mike here puts the dirt back.
Now just because Rodney's sick, don't mean that Mike and me can't
work."

WHITHER FROM HERE
THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT

The “Tea Party Movement”, despite claims of racism, homophobia, Nazi-style extremism, and irrational hatred of a black president, is a good thing for this country.

It is, after all, energizing a large segment of the populace to take a good, close look at our decaying political process, energizing them to get involved in a central government that seems to ignore the traditions of our nation and the will of the people.

But what next? Can this grass roots movement be turned into something which will lead us away from the extremes of centrist governance?

Erick Erickson has an excellent Op-Ed piece in yesterday’s TELEGRAPH. It’s called GETTING TO TEA PARTY 2.0 and can be accessed directly at: http://www.macon.com/2010/04/16/1095963/getting-to-tea-party-20.html

Several things could kill the momentum of this movement, Erickson reasons, including what he calls a ‘bunker mentality’ meaning that folks within begin hunkering down and blowing off any ideas that do not jibe entirely with their pet notions.

It is a fascinating piece. He does offer a number of concrete steps individuals within the current crop of tea party-ites can take to keep things humming along. In a nutshell, they must get involved actively AND intelligently in politics beginning at the local level.

He concludes: “It is time for the tea party movement to grow to the next level. For it to continue, it must grow.”

Good stuff. No wonder so many incumbents on all levels are afraid of losing their beloved job security.

And Speaking Of Local Talk Radio.....

A kid named Jeff Scott filled in for (himself a filler in) Erick Erickson several days this week. He will return to WMAC from Wednesday to Friday next.

He did a pretty good job, certainly far less controversial than the initial airing of Chris Crock twenty-one months ago. He claims to be a 'Libertarian' and his viewpoint is generally conservative. He speaks well and doesn't rouse the rabble the way C. Krok did. He appears intelligent enough to host a talk show in this market.

It is understood that Jeff had some problems down in Warner Robins where he stepped on some sensitive toes. Cumulus should hire him for the Macon gig because, if for no other reason our political corns are less sensitive than those of our neighbors immediately to the south.

Macon politicians are used to having their tootsies trampled on.

Anyway, my plea to Cumulus. Give this guy a sold chance, will ya???

This morning fiscal conservative commentator Kenny Bergamy, when the subject turned to cutting fifty teaching positions to balance the budget said, “If you can cut fifty teachers from our school systems now, why did we hire them in the first place?”

ANOTHER GOOD REASON TO DO AWAY WITH THE
RED NECK INTERNET
in the
MACON BLATT and BUGLE

Late Tuesday Morning a thirty-four-year-old man named Jamie Abney of a Bloomfield address was shot and killed as he and his girlfriend were driving late Tuesday Morning through the intersection of Mickey Street and Lindsay Drive.

A terse article (just the facts, Ma’am) in THE T’GRAPH by Joe Kovac, Jr. running less than a hundred words brought forth, when I last checked, some one hundred and seventy-seven comments from readers the vast majority of whom had nothing of importance to say about the man, his time spent incarcerated, his family, his father, his friends.

He was slain, apparently, as the end result of a drug exchange gone very, very wrong. Be careful when you cook meth, boys. That stuff can kill.

“Revenge is mine”, sayeth the gangsta!!

The outpouring of grief and outrage, criticism and sarcasm was wrapped in a strong matrix of vindictiveness, bile, and personal savagery. The same individuals posted over and over again, covering the same ground ad nauseam. The RNI is no place for civilized, meaningful dialogue.

This, friends and neighbors, is what people see when they access our local newspaper online. The easy conclusion to be drawn is ‘what fools these Maconites be.’ Were I thinking of transferring to Bibb County from somewhere outside the area, a string of comments like this might make me think twice.

Sure does speak volumes about the quality of our local schools.

I took enough time to read perhaps half the total comments. Apparently a number were already removed by the T’GRAPH censor squad previously.

RAMBO or BAMBI?

They can hit us with biological and chemical stuff, kill millions of us in a terror strike, reduce our citizenry to open, puss-filled sores, but no nukes, please, that wouldn’t be fair, would it?

NO CHARGES AGAINST ROETHLISBERGER
ANOTHER BLOW TO BALDWIN’S AILING ECONOMY

With the announcement earlier this afternoon that Fred Bright, Baldwin County DA, will not be seeking charges against pro footballer Ben Roethlisberger, another nail was pounded into the coffin containing the ashen remains of a middle Georgia county already rocked by closings in both the private and public sectors, layoffs, and downsizing.

“Baldwin was already a disaster area,” whined one resident who prefers anonymity to putting his ass on the line, “now this’.

Since the accusations of sexual impropriety were first leveled at the massive Steeler’s star, Milledgeville, the little city that might could, has become something of a tourist destination where the simply curious, the brain-dead, and the insane choose to congregate in eateries and watering holes to discuss the charges, real or trumped up.

Sadly, gone is the cash cow which might have alleviated Balwin County’s economic woes at least through the spring of her discontent.

Holocaust Commemoration Day 2010

Been under the weather for several days now. Fired my old Colt Woodsman in a pistol match Saturday morning and went to bed by need, there to remain.

The match? Dead last I think, didn't stay around to see the scores.

Some of you know that I am a fan of a group calling itself the JPFO or JEWS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FIREARMS OWNERSHIP, a kind of NRA on steroids.

Succumbing To The Yellow Peril

Not talking about an invasion of hords of oriental aliens here, not at all.

This time of thew year the YELLOW PERIL is pollen…cascading sheets of the stuff, pouring from the trees, covering everything with a yellow film, coating our lungs and nasal passages.

My lungs, anyway. Until yesterday’s rains. This aging chest ached as if I had been smoking four packs a day for decades.

Don’t smoke. Did once upon a time.

We seem to grow less able to endure the ravages of pollen in our systems. This year it has hit me hard. Until now the yellow stuff was little more than a nasty nose-dripping nuisance.

The noxious cloud reminds us, sometimes termed ‘the elderly’, of our own mortality….as if we didn’t need the not so subtle hint.

To this senior citizen ‘elderly’ is a fighting word.

Sure has been a miserable week in dying Maconga.

ERICK ERICKSON

Global Warming returned to the mid-state with a vengeance this week. Temperatures are expected to reach into the nineties later today after what seems like an eternity of lower-than-average temps. It’s hot! Hot!! Hot!!!

Taking another kind of heat this morning is Macon’s own Erick Erickson, pundit, city Councilor, editor of RED STATE dot COM, CNN regular, and, temporary, replacement host for Chris Krok who has moved on to the greener grass of Dallas Texas despite what the fact-challenged, NAACP head, Al Tillman would like us to believe.

Heat? Why?

Simply because he threatened to run off (“usher”) (with his wife’s shotgun) his property any census taker who tried to get him to take the “Census Bureau’s American Community Survey”.

The story has hit the national blogosphere big time e.g.: http://www.redstate.com/retiretherinos/2010/04/03/politico-the-census-and-slamming-erick-erickson/ , although barely making a ripple in Middle Georgia.

THE RED NECK INTERNET
An Open Letter To The Editors of the Macon Telegraph

Enough is enough. And boy do I mean ‘enough’.

I am talking about the comments that appear following news stories, op ed pieces, letters to the editor, and virtually anything else found in our local paper. This junk is injurious to both good sense and intelligence.

Personally, I would rather see the whole thing scrapped, eliminated, torn forcibly from the ties that bind the T’GRAPH to its declining readership. A friend and a frequent (tho less so of late) poster in the cerebral swamp, a chap who is usually spot on when it comes to the Forest Hill Road project or early release on low bail of violent criminal types, tells me I am helping destroy the First Amendment guaranteeing free speech.

Doing no such thing, of course. What I am pushing for is a higher level of discourse among people who truly have something to say, not a gaggle of regulars who vie to insult one another and post and re-post daily ad nauseam.

We don’t see this waste material in the written daily paper. It is found only in the on-line edition. Quite frankly, it has gotten out of hand. Many of the comments are purely ad hominem aimed at specific other folks who have already stated an opinion. Many of these are downright nasty, tasteless, and horribly personal. Not a few are inarticulate, poorly written and punctuated, riddled with spelling and syntactical error. This last category, obviously, reflects the sad state to which Bibb County’s educational jungle has fallen.

I believe I recall Charles Richardson arguing to keep the Red Neck Internet alive and flowing over the objections of Kenny Bergamy some months ago during their morning radio gig. It seems obvious that the paper thinks it derives something of value from the interactive contentiousness. Kenny thought it was time then to pull the plug.

I will offer a compromise. Keep the feature, but limit the posters to one inclusion per day per article. That will wipe out the tedious, back-and-forth stupidity so currently prevalent in our DAILY BLATT and BUGLE. The intrepid little band of regulars, who seem to have little else to do with their lives, could go out, find a job, and spare the sensibilities of the rest of us, who do not enjoy slogging through the fetid slough the comments have become.

SCIENTIFIC BREAKTHROUGH
DISCOVERED: FULL SKELETON OF HUMAN ANCESTER

A most interesting story from the online LONDON TELEGRAPH describes the discovery of the complete skeleton of a hominid child, perhaps 2,5000,000 years old which may be one so-called ‘missing link’ between ape and man in the largely unknown cycle of how HOMO SAPIENS evolved to where he is today. It’s a fascinating read. Most fossil remains of what might be man’s ancestors are fragmentary…a jawbone, femur, part of a skull, remains that are tantalizing to the scientist, but largely incomplete. This discovery is different, the fossilized bones make up almost a complete skeleton.

An artist’s drawing, based on the remains, is included in the story.

Scientists are never satisfied with partial truth. One chap, using what forensic laboratory personnel often refer to as ‘computer aged progression’ took the original depiction, applied the appropriate software, and came up with a truly remarkable of what this hominid might have looked like had it reached full maturity.

There was a burglary in the 400 block of Old Club Road (Idle Hour area). Neighborhood Watch reports 2 people in a gold Ford Taurus 4 door or similar vehicle with a chain type frame around the license plate, naked girl sticker on back window along with the word GOD or GOOD in fancy font on the rear window. The vehicle was seen pulling into driveways in the area during the time of the burglary. There was black male late teens to early 20’s in the passenger seat and the tag begins with BJV. If you have additional information on this vehicle, contact me at the office number below or via email. Contact law enforcement if you spot this vehicle. Mention the Old Club Road burglary and this BOLO.

LAST NIGHT
A Major Presidential Address

President Obama last night, his eyes brimming with tears, walked resolutely to the podium and addressed The American People without benefit of a teleprompter.

He spoke the following, “My fellow Americans, I come to you with heavy heart. Earlier today, after a one on one session with my personal spiritual advisor, Imam Hassan Ben Sobre, I have decided that it is not in the best interests of our beloved nation to fly in the face of public opinion. So I am urging Ms Pelosi of the House of Representatives and Mr. Reid of the United States Senate to draft legislation that will, before summer, repeal the so called ‘Obamacare’ health plan which I signed into law just recently.

“The plan as it stands clearly commits The United States to a level of spending it clearly cannot afford.

“Further, my staff and I as early as next week will begin to explore the idea of pushing an initiative in each of the fifty states which would lead to the establishment of a Constitutional Amendment requiring the Federal Government to perform all functions under a balanced budget. This Country’s finances will no-longer reflect self-serving smoke and mirrors.

“This afternoon I requested letters of resignation from both Rahm Emmanuel and David Axelrod whose strong arm tactics have offended many congressional members of both parties. This administration will not tolerate intimidation, threats, or back room deals for or against any member of Congress, their families, or their staffs.

“Secretary of State Mrs. Hillary Clinton will resign from that position to take a job as special assistant to former Vice President Al Gore in his campaign to fight some non-existent Global Warming. She will be joined by her husband who said it will be a pleasure to go to work for Mr. Gore.

“Thank you. We have much to do overf the next few months. May Allah bless the fruits of our labor.”
