Neighborhood Watch Tip
Water Shut Off At 12:30 AM
Water Shut Off At 12:30 AM
Here is a good tip from a Neighborhood in another part of Macon. This lady wrote inclaiming that somebody had turned off her water late at night. She asked what she should have done. Her letter is followed by some suggestions from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office:
THE LADY WRITES:
If this happens to you:
Last night at 12:30 I turned on the faucet and realized we had no water. After checking everything and calling the Water Dept. we found out someone had cut our water off at 12:30 Wednesday night. We live in the Greystone Ct, Timber Trace, Claimont area. Should I report this to the MPD or BSO?
SUGGESTIONS FROM THE BSO:
Suggestions from a seasoned Deputy at the BSO who has seen and heard it all:
1) Yes a report needs to be made with Law Enforcement, immediately. Neighbors need to think of safety issues for their family and surrounding Neighbors.
2) If a criminal wanted to gain entrance to your house that would be one way to do it; The water is off, resident goes outside to check the meter.
3) The average person is not going to lock their door just to go out to the front yard, someone could enter the residence while the homowner is busy trying to get the water turned back on.
4) The other danger is that they are outside, alone in the dark, by yourself where anything could happen.
5) Criminals come up with all kinds of idea to make someone a target for crimes.

Mike Adams Apologizes
to
Perez Hilton
who?
to
Perez Hilton
who?
”I am sorry, Perez, but I believe that deep down inside you want to be Miss America. I’m sorry that you are a queen without a crown.”
The writers, generally conservative and well-meaning, over at TOWN HALL these days are beside themselves over (1) Obama’s one hundred days of galloping socialism and (2) the dastardly defection of Arlen Specter from the GOP to the Party of the Mythic Jackass.
After a couple of days of heavy RINO bashing, it’s getting downright boring over there at http://www,townhall.com and I may not return for a day or two.
So I was delighted to stumble across Mike Adams’ little gem entitled MY APOLOGY TO PEREZ HILTON. Which can be accessed directly at: http://townhall.com/columnists/MikeAdams/2009/04/30/my_apology_to_perez_hilton
It deals, of course, in Mike’s sarcastic, incisive, and thoroughly acerbic ‘apology’ in light of the Miss California flap of last week, when beauty contests were suddenly transformed from drop dead gorgeous gals with limited talent into politically correct bimbos promoting alternate lifestyles.
It will help you forget the boring Pennsylvania Senator and Obama’ first hundred days tediously sleeping in the White House..

Sowing The Seeds Of His Own Dissolution
The President’s Poll Numbers
The President’s Poll Numbers
Here is Dick Morris’ latest column which first apeared in THE HILL, and later linked to Matt Drudge.
It sounds pretty convincing, but is Mr. Morris simply whistling in the dark?
His premise is a simple one: The president is enjoying excellent approval ratings, but there is a disconnect between what people think about him and what they think about some of his policies. Will the people support a de facto socialistic approach to business? Will they accept socialized medicine?
Probably not, exxplains the pundit, and lists the reasons who.
Good, solid reading. You can access it directly at: http://www.vote.com/mmp_printerfriendly.php?id=1449 and is called OBAMA SOWS SEEDS OF DEMISE (Liked my title better.)

PETA
This came in from a dear friend....it is a newspaper clipping.....written by the most ignorant, stupid, vacuous, bubble-brained animal lover in the history of print literature. It reads:
To all you hunders who kill animals for food: shame on you; you ought to go to the store and buy the meat that was made there, where animals are not harmed
This morning I intend to walk boldly into my local Kroger and demand to inspect the meat-making department.

Charity Shoots
Charity Shoots
The MARION ROAD GUN CLUB recently held a series of weekend target shooting contests one of whose aims was to donate supplies to the Middle Georgia Food Bank. Kevin Beck the gun in charge sent us this email a short while ago:
"MRGC's April 2009 FOOD DRIVE WAS A GREAT SUCCESS! During the entire month, members, guests and visitors generously donated 339 non-perishable food items and 34 baby clothing items and toys in lieu of match fees. The estimated value of the donations greatly exceeded the amount of cash normally collected during a month's worth of matches. On 27 April, all donations were delivered to the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank (MGCFB), which is located about 4 miles from the range. The MGCFB solicits, transports, sorts, stores, and distributes millions of pounds of food every year to the needy, hungry, and homeless in Middle Georgia through its participating charitable, nonprofit agencies in 24 counties of Middle Georgia. The food bank's director, Ronald Raleigh, expressed his appreciation to all who contributed and said our actions reflected well on MRGC.

P.E. FINAL EXAM
Guest Column by Luke Angelo
It May Be Physical, But It Sure Ain’t Education
Guest Column by Luke Angelo
It May Be Physical, But It Sure Ain’t Education
My big brother Rob, the college coach, is required to give final exams to his PE students, many of whom go on to become college coaches.
They pull that stuff on us in seventh grade, too. We go through a boring but sweat-stained semester, playing all the stupid games coach Nutscratcher picks, and at the end of the term he blindsides you with a final exam that suddenly counts 50% of your grade.
So I made up the following test, showed it to my brother and my high school goon. Even told them they could have it for free. Both were mighty mad: Rob said I was being a wise ass and he would tell Pop; my PE teacher couldn’t pass it. So here goes:
PART ONE MULTIPLE CHOICE:
1, The number of players on a soccer team is:
(a) 1 (b) 11 (c) 111 (d) 1,111
2. If you are playing in a SINGLES tennis match, how many opponents do you have playing against you?
(a) 0 (b) 1 (c) 12 (d) 33
3, The adult(?) who runs a kids’ sports team is called a:
(a) hall monitor (b) principal (c) coach (d) crossing guard
4. The official who fires a STARTING GUN at a track meet is a:
(a) hunter (b) cowboy (c) mass murderer (d) starter
5, Which breed of dog has a name the same as that of a sport’s figure:
(a) Basenji (b) Rottweiller (c) Boxer (d) Mutt

Another Dead Body
outside
Another Macon Nightclub
outside
Another Macon Nightclub
Another body.
Another body downtown.
Another body downtown in the early morning.
Another body downtown in the early morning outside a night club.
Another body downtown in the early morning outside a night club slain long past the legal closing hour.
Another body, that of a Black man, downtown in the early morning outside a night club long past the legal closing hour.
We have witnessed mayhem at Club Money; violenceDirty Iguana following ‘teen night’, and now a mass brawl outside the Riverside Ballroom.
Writes Amy Leigh Womack in the T’GRAPH: “A security guard said the club, located at the intersection of Walnut Street and Broadway, was closing at 3 a.m. when the fight began, according to the report.”
Three clubs, whose patrons are almost entirely Black, all open (and serving?) after the 2:00 AM witching hour.
Unless the rules have changed since I owned a downtown club, the establishment is allowed to serve until 2:00 AM and the premises must be cleared by 2:30 except for folks like staff and, just possibly, entertainers. That’s the law in both the City of Macon and the county of Bibb, at least as I understand it.
If any of our Cherry Street watering spots had pulled the 3:00 bit, we would have been fined and probably lost our liquor license.
Maybe local officialdom allows Black clubs to stay open longer. That would be a continuation of the blind eye policy toward shot houses: LEAVE THEM ALONE UNLESS DIRTY BUSINESS SPILLS OUTSIDE. Dirty business…stabbing, prostitution, assault, shootings, murder, drugs. That’s the kind of dirty business we’re talking about.
So we let the Black night spots remain open as long as somebody wishes….until the dirty business spills outside.
As it has done recently at Club Money, The Dirty Iguana, and the good old Riverside Ballroom.
When that dirty business spills outside it puts the whole community at risk, not just the thugs and g-bangers who love the darkness of the night to hide their community cancer of raw criminality.
We can put the question to Chief Burns: What’s being done about this situation, chief?
How can outfits like NewTown tout the safety of our downtown streets with all the thuggery, the dirty business spilling outside?
What kind of politics is involved? At what level?
Is it a dirty business kind of politics? Or is politics in this racially divided burg just plain dirty.
And spilling outside.
Do we have to take our city back one (bloody?) block at a time?

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office, Macon Police Department, and United States Secret Service are conducting an investigation of cases in which debit and credit cards are being skimmed in the Macon-Bibb County area. A skimming device was recently recovered at a Raceway gas station in West Bibb. The device is being held at the Atlanta Field Office of the USSS.
Investigation results indicate that unknown suspects may have also used similar devices at one other Raceway location inside the city of Macon as well as a Murphy USA location. All three locations have since been hecked
and were found to be free of skimming devices. The suspects have used the stolen account information to retrieve money from various accounts through bank branches located in the North Atlanta area. The suspects were last seen in a late model black or dark blue Honda Odyssey mini van. Attached are five photographs of the suspects. SWINE FLU
I’m not too worried about catching the so-called SWINE FLU. And no, I haven’t kissed any pigs lately, have you?
There are several good reasons for this. First, the story hit in a very low news cycle and the media had little else to obsess over. Where is Lindsay Lohan when we need her?
Also, while several poor folks have died in Mexico, the cases reaching the USA have been relatively mild.
Finally, spread of infection can be curtailed by not breathing your friend’s germs and by frequent hand washing. As a former restaurant owner, washing the hands thirty times a day seems just about right. Don’t obsess like dear old Lady MacBeth, just WASH….WASH…..WASH. Please use soap. Aqua pura don’t get it.
Jokes about the swine flu seem to center around the amount of ‘Pork’ in the administration’s stimulus bill. Swine Flu is nothing new. There were jokes back in the seventies when the strain first hit our shores, but this aging brain can’t recall any. I do remember that the whole hyped mess seemed to clear up quickly and all by itself four decades ago.
I haven’t canceled any trips to Mexico, a beautiful country I once loved to visit. These days your chances of getting killed by a drug cartel’s gunman are infinitely greater than death by swine flu. Mexico is too dangerous to visit these days. Officials don’t let you carry your own firearm and are incapable of protecting anybody from well-armed thugs and drug dealers.
If a true epidemic erupts, then let us pull a Boccaccio, retire to an isolated mansion with a well-stocked wine cellar, and spin tales until the Black Death winds down in its course.
We will run the risk of including one of the infected among our partygoers, and end up dying, one by one, until every last person in the Keep ends up stiff and rat-eaten.
Hey, rats have to eat, too.

"Is it any wonder that Macon & Bibb County, Georgia have earned the name "Gangsta City." 4/26/09"
An article by Amy Leigh Womack appeared yesterday (Saturday) in THE MACON T’GRAPH that asked the question: is there a conflict of interest in th case of the two men accused of killing a Bibb County Deputy serving a no-knock warrant more than two years ago?
You can read it here, and if you haven’t, please do so before going any further: http://www.macon.com/198/story/694397.html?mi_pluck_action=comment_submitted&qwxq=1680984#Comments_Container
Now you have read the letter, please read this comment from a local chap who says of himself: “(This comes) From an anonymous student who pays close attention in class, does their homework and asks tough questions:”
It gets better….read on:
“Is it possible for Macon & Bibb County, Georgia's Victims of Crime and their Families to get a fair and speedy trial?
The Macon & Bibb County, Georgia Yellow pages list 289 Attorneys. At the top of the list are 66 Criminal Defense Attorneys. The nearest category afterwards is Bankruptcy at 62 and Personal Injury at 61. http://www.yellowpages.com/categories/Macon-GA/Lawyers
Considering that at least one Municipal Court Judge and no telling how many Magistrate, State and Superior Court Judges are high profile, Criminal Defense Attorneys or are associated with firms that are.
And given the facts that 1) the City Council Appropriations Committee Chairman, which oversees the Macon Police Department budget, is a Criminal Defense Attorney and 2) the Son of the Bibb County Commission Chair who oversees the budget for the Bibb County Sheriff's Office is a Criminal Defense Attorney and 3) now the Mayor's Brother's Law Firm is in the Lucrative Macon-Bibb, Criminal Defense business;
Does anyone see a chance of Justice for Victims of Crime and their Families in Macon & Bibb County, Georgia?”

Email From The Houston County GOP
Monthly MEETING
Monthly MEETING
I get regular emails and updates from the Houston County Republican party. This one announces the monthly meeting on May 2nd. Sounds like a great time and a worthy event.
We can contrast the Houston County GOP with our own Bibb County outfit. I often refer to Bibb County Republicans as 'the party of roll over and play dead',for dead they appear to be. That outfit can use some serious, new, dynamic leadership.
Good morning fellow Republicans, I thought I would break from the norm of having a Politician speak at our Breakfast Meetings and schedule someone a littler different. Therefore, I have scheduled Garland Hunt, a member of the Georgia Parole Board to speak at our May 2, 2009 meeting. He has an extensive Resume that I believe you will find interesting.
So, mark your Calendar for it, then go out and enjoy the Fabulous Air Force Thunderbirds. PITY THE POOR GUN OWNING NEW YORKER
Is This The Wave Of The Future
Is This The Wave Of The Future
Click MORE to read a notice from the NRA about upcoming anti-gun legislation coming up in the New York State Assembly.
I can't believe I grew up in that place many years ago when:
and a year later from a gun and pawn in downtown Syracuse i bought the gun of my dreams a 1917 Enfield in .30-06 caliber for twenty-two dollars. carried my prize ten blocks through the city streets to my Dad's office to show it off. Bought surplus ammo that arrived at the local trrain depot.
In Upstate New York a boy kid grew up with firearms. He learned to hunt the local woodchuck and graduated to Pheasant and deer before he was ten. He kept a gun or two in a corner of his room. Not one of us, that I recall, ever used a gun for evil purposes. We carried pocket knives to school way back then as well. No stabbings. no murderous intent. A boy was taught by his father or some responsible adult in the way of gun and knife safety. That was an 'or slse' dictum, one never crossed or tested.
Please read the NYS proposed gun laws. It should scare the heck out of any responsible gun owner. More...

It takes a whole day to catch up on email after the old 'puter goes down for two or three.
Did get a pile o letters asking why I was not b'logging during the down time. They ranged from 'Are you OK' letters to 'you lazy bastard' letters. I usually answer to both.
Thanks.
Don't forget the PAN AFRICAN DAY IN THE PARK this morning....and all day. I will have to miss this one, sadly. I enjoy these affairs very, very much. Right now we are switching out hot water heaters. If you ran into me you wouldn't like the way I smell right down. Worst than the Middle East inbetween watering holes or towns.
May or may not get back online the rest of the day. Need to render some opinion on some of the craziness going on in city government. Macon is fast becoming the laughing stock of the Deep South.
Oh I wish I were in the land of cotton.....and all that good stuff.

OTHER MORNING TALK RADIO PERSONALITIES GET THEIRS
with apologies to Kenny and Charles
with apologies to Kenny and Charles
Regular readers of this column know that I have not always been kind to Mr. Krok, Shock Meister over at WMAC 940 AM.
But today it’s not about him, it’s about Kenny Bergamay and Charles Richardson. And it’s not by me, but by Vic Jones Macon’s best and most effective factotum.
The ‘it’ doesn’t relate to ex POTUS Bill Clinton’s famous, “It depends on what the meaning of ‘it’ is.”
This ‘it’ is a major poke in the collective eye sockets of WGA-MACON BLATT AND BUGLE co-hosts. It seems they spent this morning’s three hours giggling like a couple of girly guys over the Spa-Whoopy House bust on Riverside by the brave undercover men of the Macon PD. In the process they missed the ‘real’ news of the day.
Can’t say a word. I spent the first few hours of the morning looking for the DSL modem which UPS delivered to the wrong address and never heard a mumblin’ word.
Anyway, here is what Brother Vic Jones at his acerbic best had to say. Doesn’t look like the talk show business has much of a future hereabaouts.

Sec. 6-32. Peddlers, agents and canvassers.
Peddlers, agents or canvassers, meaning those who sell articles of any kind, from house to house, solicit orders therefor, whether sold direct or delivered at a later time, shall pay a license to be fixed by the board of commissioners of the county, on application. Each and every person engaged in such business shall be subject to license and such license shall include the delivery of the article sold; provided that this license shall not apply to traveling salesmen, commonly known as "drummers," selling to the trade only.
The hours permitted are 8am to 8pm Monday through Saturday. If a solicitor violates this order he can be charged with a misdemeanor. Also, the peddler is required to “wear and conspicuously display the personal identification badge issued” to him/her while conducting business. A permit to solicit issued by the City of Macon will not allow a solicitor to operate outside the city limits. In order to solicit outside the city limits, the peddler must have a permit issued by Bibb County (look for “ Bibb County ” and the County Seal ).
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office has received numerous complaints about door to door sales activity recently. The group currently most complained about is allegedly selling magazines. Please follow the link below for more information on this group (Prestige Sales LLC)and consider this information before purchasing subscriptions. Some of these solicitors have recently obtained permits after a Bibb Sheriff's Patrolmen wrote one of the individuals a citation. Our best advice is to say "no" and ask them to leave. I have heard numerous accounts of instances in which the same sales person has injected several different sad or inspirational stories into his or her sales pitch. If they refuse to leave contact law enforcement. As the Bibb Sheriff's Office has said before; you do not have to open your door just because someone rings the bell or knocks on it.
Thanks to all of the members who reported the locations on these individuals. Our patrolmen have made contact with them on several occasions. If they have the required permit, there is nothing they can do other than make them leave your residence. The reason the problem continues is that inevitably someone buys from them and the word gets around to others.

How The United States Of America Uses Psychological Warfare Against The Radical Muslims Who Would Kill Us
While wading through hundreds of emails that came in while my modem was fried, I came across this absolute gem from Riverside Red:
First, you are captured on the battlefield where you are trying to kill U.S. soldiers.
Then you are imprisoned at GITMO and immediately provided expert medical attention and better nutrition than ever before.
Soon lawyers from some of Washington 's most prestigious law firms offer to represent you free of charge.
Then a president is elected who went to a "church" for 20 years whose "pastor" loved to shout "God D--- America" from the pulpit.
Finally, you are told that the president intends to release you inside the country you dream will be destroyed some day, and the Director of National Intelligence wants you to be paid a stipend by those dreadful infidel taxpayers so that you can adjust to your new life.
And just last week, that same president was floating the idea of taking away some health benefits from the soldiers who captured you!

Paul Jacob's
COMMON SENSE
COMMON SENSE
Here is a gem from Paul Jacob, read by yours truly after I got in from a long day digging, weeding, and hoeing. When your back and muscles are as sore as mine right now, it doesn’t leave any desire for government interference on my little lower forty and a tomatoe patch
Informal production and distribution, from small farms and homes, were once not only common, but the backbone of everyday life.
Today, there's a revival of much of this, as people begin to realize that corporate practices have increasingly relied upon putting additives in foods and plastics in other products.
I have sad news for locavores and other health food fans hoping to buck the trend of corporate practice: H.R. 875, the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009. This new bill, now worming its way through the corridors of Capitol Hill, would require anyone who stores or sells any food products to any third party to register with the federal government and keep extensive records about every product bought, produced, modified, or sold.
How far will the law reach? I suspect it will have no limit, which one section clarifies: “In any action to enforce the requirements of the food safety law, the connection with interstate commerce required for jurisdiction shall be presumed to exist.”
In other words, the federal government will, if this bill is passed and “successfully” administered, regulate everything, including (and down to) your local organic truck farm, festival, or bake sale.
This bit of food totalitarianism thus takes its place in a long line of federal government regulations that, in the name of safety, regulates small operations out of existence.
It makes no sense.
This is Common Sense. I'm Paul Jacob.

INFORMATION FROM THE MACON POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE BIBB COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
Macon residents were visited Monday the 20th, by what appears to be a young guy going door-to-door trying to separate us from our money. If this, or any other stranger, appears at your door unsolicited, please call MPD dispatch 751-7500 or BSO dispatch if you live outside the city limits (746-9441) and have them checked out. The city and county require door to door solicitation permits. They are violating the law without them. A Bibb Sheriff’s Patrolman recently cited one of these individuals.
Here is the story that was given to the Macon resident. It very closely matches that which was given to a county resident recently. We strongly advise you to just say no to these “salespersons”. Remember that you do not have to open your door. These people are not Bibb residents as they claim. Read the rest of this message then follow the link at the bottom for more information.

He told Jim he was selling magazines---that he has a brother who runs a MASH unit in Iraq and the magazines would be sent to the guys over there. Kevin also said he was earning points for his soccer team, which is trying to earn the money to play in some big competition in London. He told the home owners that Prestige is the name of his team, but that is the name of the sales company listed on the (information)---Prestige Sales LLC, Phoenix, Arizona. Kevin also told them that this promotion was in conjunction with Barnes & Noble---that the store would reimburse 85% of the cost of the magazines to the buyer. The manager at B& knew of no such promotion.
Kevin said he lived in the neighborhood, but then was vague about where his street was located and the name. He said he had lived in our neighborhood for 8 months, but couldn't remember the name of the street."

SHOCK JOCK DECLARES WAR ON MACON T'GRAPH

'Cancel Your Subscriptio
And Do It Today!!!
Early this morning, during the second hour of his daily Broadcast, Chris Krok told his stunned listeners that he was canceling his subscription to the MACON TELEGRAPH and urged them to do the same.
Seems that an article covering last weeks 'Tea Party' contained what Mr. considers a racial slur since since it alluded to the preponderence of White Citizens comprising the crowd of, we maintain with lots of justification, more than twelve-hundred individuals.
A subsequent Op-Ed piece telling readers that the GOP was marginalizing itself by excluding minorities, and a letter from the paper's publisher supporting the original 'whitey' statement all contributed to Krok's defiant position.
In a further turn from the normal, The Krokster made up with Councilwoman Elaine Lucas and promised not to say anything negative about her unless she does something particularly offensive.
Sucks, by the nex City Council Election these two will have kissed and made up.

and
Even Sorer Winners:
The Left Is Still Angry
”But many focused on a frustration on the left caused by Obama's centrism -- his opposition to prosecuting those involved with torture, for example. "I am angry because the whole Republican party has not been rounded up and thrown into a black site," one wrote. A reader in Evanston, Ill., took a similar view, that true believers on the left don't want "b.s. rhetoric about looking forward."
Dana Milbank, a respected WASHINGTON POST columnist gives some solid insight into why there is so much raw anger on the left of our political spectrum.
The GOP is also mad as hell, which is understandable since it got clobbered in the last two elections and spins rudderless, devoid of any real strategy on how to deal with the threats stemming from the current economic crisis and rogue soon-to-be nuclear powers overseas.
But the Party of the Mythic Jackass won. Liberal notions abound in both houses of Congress and are awash in the corridors of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Why are so many lefties so gol-durned pissed off at everything and everyone?
Some of the answers can be found at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/04/17/AR2009041702639_pf.html
It's titled NEXT CHOLER PLEASE and was written after the columnist took the time to read and digest comments posted after some recent Op-Eds, his own opinion pieces.

An Open Letter To All Those Who Have Written In About Sending Chris Krok Packing
Yes he can be abrasive, loud-mouthed, and not a little racist.
But it looks like he is here to stay.....for as long as he wants, maybe until he gets a gig in a larger market.
Nobody has been as negative about Krok's ad hominem attacks, his histrionics, his use of half-truth, his ill-considered, one sided political opinions, and the religious bigotry of his recent conversion to Southern Baptism as has this b'log.
But, to be fair (if not balanced) Chris has, in a short time, made an enormous impact on our little segment of Heaven in Deep Dixie.
The fact that he is causing extreme discomfort within the political establishment is a plus. The power structure in this county has long needed shaking up. We need not look any further than Macon's bloated city council, the 'Gang of Fifteen' which has managed to accomplish nothing in the year-and-a-half of its current incarnation beyond petty bickering, feuding, back-stabbing, and protecting of imagined turf.
He (along with his distaff side) put together one hell of a political rally this past Wednesday. I spent some time in city hall during and after the gathering on the greensward....there was not a politician in evidence. Not one one was to be found anywhere in the building.
Let's make this short.....Mr. Krok is with us and will remain here for the foreseeable future. Get used to it.
Sorry, but that's the simple truth.

Today was devoted to gardening and exercising my Second Amendment rights.
After planting twenty-seven tomato plants, I pent three hours shooting two Soviet-era Mosin Nagants, one of them almost a century old, plus a World War 2 German Mauser. There is no better way to touch the historicdal continuum than to use weapons made in the past, near or distant.
No b'logging today.

Paul Jacob Gives One More Reason Why I Shall Never Return To The Big Apple, The City Of My Birth
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg finagled a way around the city's two-term limit on mayoral service, and is now running for a third term.
As if to rub it in, he's attacking our use of salt.
Bloomberg has simply declared that the city is starting a “nationwide” effort to pressure the food industry to decrease salt use.
Which is more audacious, making New Yorkers' salt shakers the city's business, or foisting this intrusion onto the rest of the country?
This would have been a strawman example — a reductio ad absurdum — a generation ago. Back then, when some of us objected to, say, regulation of cigarettes, arguing that next government would be regulating the salt on our French Fries, earnest nanny-state proponents would sniff. No. They wouldn't do anything that absurd.
Today, Thomas R. Friedman, Bloomberg's man at the city health department, claims that if restaurants followed the New York City government prescription, they would in effect “lower health care costs and prevent 150,000 premature deaths every year.”
Is he right? John Tierney, writing in The New York Times, asserts that this “prediction is based on an estimate based on extrapolations based on assumptions that have yet to be demonstrated despite a half-century of efforts.”
Healthy or not, my salt intake is my business. And maybe my wife's. Not New York City supreme ruler Michael Bloomberg's.
This is Common Sense. I'm Paul Jacob.

Better Than Your Old-Fashioned 401K???
Here is an 'investment stopry' told here a few months ago.
I was sitting at a financial seminar when the head guru asked several of us for our favorite and most successful investment in recent years.
When it came my turn I said simply, "Start with ten thousand rounds of your favorite ammunition, bury it in the back yard, dig it up in ten years and it will make you rich." Exaggerated, of course, but it did get the most applause of the evening.
Here is a link to an article in the Wall Street Journal that discusses the phenomenon taking plac e in the firearms industry.....where prices are going through the roof.
It is called FEAR AND GREED HAVE SALES OF GUNS AND AMMUNITION SHOOTING UP. Here is a direct link to the piece: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123984046627223159.html
Always remember to invest at your own risk.

Below is a link to one of the best pieces of sound engineering work I think
I have ever seen. It is a composite audio/video of song whereby additional
tracks were laid in by different singers and musicians from different places
around the world. The finished product is tremendous!
The song itself is that classic standard "Stand By Me" originally released
in 1955 by The Staple Singers and released again in 1961 by the Drifters.

MACON'S TEA PARTY
A GREAT SUCCESS
A GREAT SUCCESS
It will be under-reported by the media, of course, and dismissed as unimportant by the more lioberal press and politicians, but in Macon, Georgia, at least, the rally this noon organized by Chris Krok was a first class success drawing approximately fifteen hundred like-minded folks to the little park across from City Hall.
It was an exhilarating experience for this old bird who spent his time talking to and interviewing dozens of wonderful people, folks of all ages and caught a real whiff of the kind of discontent there is abroad in this land.
More than any traditional liberal vs conservative donnybrook, more than red state vs blue state, most of us felt part of a genuine grassroots movement unprecedented in the history of American conservative political ideology.
I don't want to rain on Mr. Krok's parade, or upstage his presentation, for he will doubtless talk at length about the rally during tomorrow morning's show, but I came early and stayed late, far longer than I intended and had a great time.
Had the conservatives of the area pols had been able to pull something like this off before November's election, there would have been some local contests, at least, whose outcome would have gone their way.
Well done, Chris, your big show came off flawlessly.

Right Wing Terrorist Report
GOVERNMENT SPEAK
Unclassified for official use only
GOVERNMENT SPEAK
Unclassified for official use only
It will be a very, very busy day on this end....not much time for b'logging or even gardening.
Yesterday we provided a link to a site that carries the full text of a most frightening article released recently by the Department Of Homeland Security titled: ”Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment”
The nine page document is apparently a heads-up to law enforcement on all levels to beware right-wingers (conservative) who do things like own multiple firearms, buy ammunition, store survival gear, disagree with the government, support states' rights, smaller government, and less government spending.
The piece has been much commented on over the past two days, but few seem to have actually read it, relying on the several encapsulations available in the press.
Frankly, I am not quite ready to comment. However, I would like to offer two excerpts (verbatim) which show (1) The scope of the report and (2) just how silly government quasi-legalistic language is. These clowns only write for others of a like mind. The hell with the public, educated or not.
First: THE SCOPE....in their own words:
(U//FOUO) This product is one of a series of intelligence assessments published by the Extremism and Radicalization Branch to facilitate a greater understanding of the phenomenon of violent radicalization in the United States. The information is provided to federal, state, local, and tribal counterterrorism and law enforcement officials so they may effectively deter, prevent, preempt, or respond to terrorist attacks
against the United States. Federal efforts to influence domestic public opinion must be conducted in an overt and transparent manner, clearly identifying United States Government sponsorship.
What's FOUO? Read on. That's the scary part. It might be illegal even to possess this document, although I did find it in several places across the Internet after a little searching.
The phrase UNCLASSIFIED FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY appears at the top and bottom of each page. It appears as if our government doesn't trust its government-educated citizens to read a phrase once and remember its significance:
(U) LAW ENFORCEMENT INFORMATION NOTICE: This product contains Law Enforcement Sensitive (LES) information. No portion of the LES information should be released to the media, the general public, or over non-secure Internet servers. Release of this information could adversely affect or jeopardize investigative activities.
(U) Warning: This document is UNCLASSIFIED//FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY (U//FOUO). It contains information that may be exempt from public release under the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. 552). It is to be controlled, stored, handled, transmitted, distributed, and disposed of in accordance with DHS policy relating to FOUO information and is not to be released to the public, the media, or other personnel who do not have a valid need-to-know without prior approval of an authorized DHS official. State and local homeland security officials may share this document with authorized security personnel without further approval from DHS.

SHOTS FIRED
Club Money
What the.......?
Club Money
What the.......?
The Macon T'GRAPH's crusading crime reporter, Amy Leigh Womack, writes this morning that there was a shooting at Club Money on lower Pio Nono early Sunday Morning.
Not long ago it was only an old-fashioned sticking, a stabbing.
According to the article, “Donnell Lindsey is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to a police report released Monday.” The police report claims that 'two or three shots” were fired INSIDE the club at 3:30 in the A.M.
Wait just a gol-durned minute. 3:30? Inside the club?
INSIDE?
Serving alcohol stops by law at 2:00 and the patrons are supposed to exit within a half hour. How can a patron be INSIDE Club $$$$$ ninety minutes past closing?
We assume this night spot is inside the city limits since Melanie Hoffman, and not a representative of the Sheriff's department made the official comment.
What's going on here folks? Are the police looking the other way? Does Club Money operate under different rules than Downtown clubs or North Macon watering places? Are joints like this, whose patrons are largely Black, permitted to run under rules of their own and not those of the City of Macon? Maybe they fall under the same category as does the illegal shot house still open a year after one of its patrons got into an altercation and lost her two young babes seared to death in a deliberately set act of arson.
We have asked this question before and have received no answers. The MPD hierarchy can expect a phone call later this today.
Just an afterthought, the alleged shooter was released on $1200.00 bail within a few hours of his arrest.
What's a firearm toting, convicted felon doing out on the steets anyway?

Some More Gang Websites
Signs, Colors, Graffiti
Signs, Colors, Graffiti
Wanna know about gangs?
Yesterday within a few minutes after asking for web sites that might educate us about gangs, their colors, their signs, their graffiti, I received the following links.
One of them came from a sixteen-year-old neighbor who is NOT in a gang, but attends a public school and is familiar with some of these groups and their customs.
You should know that all 'gangs' do not indulge in drugs and criminal activity. I was told about one such in another part of town whose name makes it sound dreadful, but which consists of a group of young musicians who sit around and make some kind of honest-to-goodness music on a regular basis.
Kids need to belong to something larger than themselves.....without a strong sense of real family, they often turn to the surrogate family of a street gang.
Where have all the families gone?
This is a bit off the subject. But I have been studying the rise of Naziism in 1930's Germany of late. One strong leg of that party's methodology was to control the children and youth. The Nazis created 'Hitlerjugend' (Hitler youth) which swallowed up in its 'educational system' almost every child in the land by the time WW2 broke out. For the most part the kids, boys and girls, loved it.
Most young people have a natural need to be included in something larger than themselves. This is a trait common to most mammals, by the way. The modern street gang is but a logical extension that psychological need, especially where the natural bond within a strong, preferably two parent family, is erased.
Sorry for the digression....here are the links. Thank you for sending them in. I have not had a chance yet to study them, but have given each a cursory checking out:

New First Dog
Any media attention given to the Obamas' new pet is wasted time, space, and newsprint, in cities where newspapers still exist, of course.
"Bo" is a Portugese Water Dog, whatever that is....sounds a little un-American to this old bird who always owned breeds like Labs, goldens, terriers, and setters. A boxer, once, and any number of pure-bred mutts.
Don't own a canine these days. Find cats easier on an aging body. Cats are smarter than dogs and don't need walking or slobber as much.
Why did the President choose that particular breed? No idea. Bill Clinton opted for a Lab when that was the nation's most popular breed, he ever driven by popularity polls. Buddy was largely ignored after the move to Chapaqua and later escaped from a secret service guy and got clobbered by a car. We don't know if the SS guy lost his job or the ex-POTUS engineered the death. BTW Sox the First Cat passed away just last year. Probably of natural causes, but we can never be sure.
Pets are important in the highest political circles. So are children, but something seems a little out of kilter when there has not been a male child in the last three first families.
Here's to first pets. You can keep the first kids.
Like grand children, they are vastly over-rated.

A DEA officer stops at a ranch in Montana, and talks with an old rancher. He tells the rancher, 'I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs.' The old rancher says, 'Okay, but do not go in that field over there', as he points out the location.
The DEA officer verbally explodes saying, 'Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me.' Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removes his badge and proudly displays it to the farmer. 'See this badge? This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish...on any land.. No questions asked or answers given. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?'
The old rancher nods politely, apologizes, and goes about his chores. A short time later, the old rancher hears loud screams and sees the DEA officer running for his life chased close behind by the rancher's prize bull. With every step the bull is gaining ground on the officer, and it seems likely that he'll get "horned" before he reaches safety. The officer is clearly terrified.
The old rancher throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his lungs..... 'Your badge! Show him your badge!'

BUTTERING UP CHIEF BURNS
An article appeared recently in the Macon T'GRAPH written by a police office, Lieutenant
Dominick Andrews.
Early on Officer Andrews asks the pointed question, “Often, citizens, visitors and others I come in contact with will stop and ask, 'How safe is Macon?' or 'Is Macon really that bad?'”
It's a question many have asked over decades. Are we safe at night in the inner city or any of the outlying portions of the city? Crime seems to be everywhere. The city has a serious gang problem along with a high unemployment rate and a first-class drug problem.
The lieutenant states flatly immediately after posing the question, “My response has always been consistent; Macon is a very safe community to live in and is protected by one of the finest police departments in the state.”
It was at this point my rat-smelling sensors went up. I looked at the byline, Dominick Andrew. Why that fellow is the Chief Burns' Son-in-law, by golly jeepers. Hmmmm. Now the odor of rodent grows stronger.
In his very next paragraph Officer Andrews says flat out, “The leadership behind the police department starts with Chief Mike Burns. Our police department is headed by one of the most professional and goal oriented individuals in the community, Chief Burns’ mission in protecting this community is a simple one: A renewal, a re-energizing of the partnerships that have worked successfully in the past, partnerships between prosecutors and police, and also between law enforcement and the residents and merchants we protect.”
And it just gets worse. This op-ed piece is simply a hymn in praise of Chief Burns by a kin-in-law. Hell, Fire, and Damnation. You can read it all at: http://www.macon.com/203/story/678526.html It's titled: POLICE AND PARTNERS ENSURE A SAFE CITY. The headline editor should be flogged on the City Hall steps for that misleading gem.
In the old days we called that obscene level of raw sycophancy 'brown nosing', or 'suck butting', two very unpleasant terms to denote the obvious.
The newspaper does not indicate any kind of a special relationship between the Chief and the writer. That is a serious error of judgment on the part of the staff.
What is Andrews pushing for? Did he take the Captain's exam back in December? Is he holding out for a promotion? We know for a fact that he didn't do as well as others on that test, but for some reason Chief Burns is yet to announce any promotions. Seems to be dragging his feet, doesn't he? Will a insufferable article in the paper help this lieutenant's chances to leap over others who scored better? I wonder. I also intend to find out, and soon.
Despite Andrews' fawning praise for his papa-in-law, there are many things wrong within the MPD. We can start with the taint, or stench, if you will, of a continuing 'Good Old Boy' culture which is costing the department dearly. We will have more to say on this very subject in the fullness of time. But it remains, deeply ingrained, a serious stumbling block in the twin areas of the promotion of the best and the brightest and the most effective use of personnel out on the street.
Erick Erickson cited during a radio broadcast late last fall the the rumor on the street that Chief Burns would retire by the end of the year. January First came and went, and the Chief is still in place. Sure would like to hear from Erickson say more on this point.
In any event, Lieutenant Andrews did not do his chief/pop-in-law any favors by writing that article. The MACON TELEGRAPH cheated its readers by not offering full disclosure of their relationship.

"TOO MANY PEOPLE"
Here is a little gem of an article by Paul Jacob:
How many people does it take to run a civilization?
Lots.
And the more things you are doing — the more productive and wealthier you want your civilization to be — the more people it can use.
It's people who do things. Without people, the things won't get done. People aren't the problem, they're the solution.
But the non-problem of “too many” people bothers Jonathan Porritt, a “green” advisor to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Porritt says if Britain is to feed its population “sustainably,” her population will have to be reduced to 30 million. Britain's current population is about 61 million, twice that. So . . . do we have 31 million volunteers?
Porritt says “Population growth, plus economic growth, is putting the world under terrible pressure.” That terrible pressure of making it easier and easier to survive.
Industrialized, capitalistic countries are often slammed for consuming a disproportionate share of the world's economic output.
Less often mentioned is that these countries also produce the lion's share of the output. They can do so to the extent that people with brains and initiative are free to function. Free to work, keep what they earn, benefit from planning ahead. Let people be free, and they'll feed themselves fine. They will expand resources.
You want to “sustain” economic development, Mr. Government Official? Get out of the way.
This is Common Sense. I'm Paul Jacob.

Boston, MA LPI:
A Boston (MA) hospital just announced that it has performed the first ever face transplant in the United States.
The practice was introduced a few years back in France.
In the Boston operation the face of Senator John Kerry was stitched onto the head of Representative Nancy Pelosi who claimed she was looking for a softer, more gentle image for her public persona.
There is no word as yet from Kerry's publicist what kind of an image he now wants to project.

Piracy On The High Seas
Arrgghhhh.....Avast.....me maties......shiver my timbers.....and other Hollywood-type clichés that dominate what little we average citizens know about pirates.
An American-Flagged ship...carrying charity materials for Africa...captured briefly by Somali pirates who now hold their captain in a life boat and demand free passage back to their home port.
We sit watching, negotiating with FBI help, American warships on site. Waiting. Hoping.
Taking no apparent action. Is our President paralyzed by indecision? Or is he cunningly planning some manner of rescue? Only time will tell.
However, let there be no mistake about it. The Somali pirates are Muslims and that singular fact must be made known. They ain't Southern Baptists off on a spree. These same people slaughtered two dozen American soldiers on the streets of Mogadishu in recent history, dragging the body of a slaughtered United States soldier through the streets of their lawless city.
Our government must take a hard line with these terrorist crooks. By the end of the standoff, the bastards must experience the twenty-first century equivalent of walking the plank into shark infested waters, or getting their necks stretched from the 'highest yardarm'.
I, personally, vote of a real plank and a genuine yardarm. Be glad to supply the plank.
Don't forget that part of the Marine hymn reminding us of 'the shores of Tripoli'......more Muslim pirates way back then.

The Lucas Vs Krok Feud:
Time To
KNOCK IT OFF,
Children!!!
Time To
KNOCK IT OFF,
Children!!!
The ongoing discord between Council Woman Elaine Lucas and WMAC radio host Chris Krok has reached new depths.
A few days ago Krok filed a formal complaint with city hall about Elaine's use of her council email account to savage a constituent. Yesterday Ms Lucas filed a harassment charge against the Krokster for putting her in danger because he featured a picture of her vehicle and himself on his blog.
The nastiness started in June of last year and should have run its course by now. But it seems to get worse with every passing month.
Krok starts each hour of his program with the reminder that Elaine steadfastly refuses to come on his program. He often attacks some position she has taken in her duties as an elected leader of the people.
Lucas has a temper. Yes, indeed. She's a fighter. She has been advised in person by myself and many others to avoid the slings and arrows of broadcast fortune. 'Give it time and it will sll go away'. She has not taken that good advice. Being very, very human, she gets mad.
It's time to knock it off, kids. End a feud that is hurting the city. A feud fueled, in part, by Ms. Lucas' enemies within the Gang of Fifteen. The Macon City Council has not accomplished much of anything in a year-and-a-half since this edition was first sworn in. The body performed better under the questionable leadership of Anita Ponder.
To many outsiders, Macon is a joke. It has earned the reputation of being the 'little city that time keeps on forgetting'. It does not help our reputation that local government seems hell bent on self destruction through petty bickering and selfish turf wars.
End it now, Chris and Elaine. END IT NOW.

Lower Boulevard Neighborhood Watch
Double Burglary This Morning
Double Burglary This Morning
Got a heads up from an alert neighbor a short time ago. Sometime between 8:30 and 11;30 this morning two houses were entered by force and several items taken.
The residence at 1045 Boulevard was savaged by a crow bar at the French Doors in the rear; the old Willingham house at the corner of Curry and Boulevard had its front door kicked in.
Stolen items include:
Wii w/ 4 remotes
X-Box with games
Dell Laptop
I-Mac Laptop
The suspects in the robberies allegedly reside at 1130 Boulevard. They are three Black Males who attempted to sell a purloined TV at the Circle K on Old Clinton.
As always we are not identifying the alert citizen in any way. We can be grateful that we have such good neighbors in our Neighborhood watch.
Be vigilant more than ever, folks. Just because we haven't had a robbery in this immediate area in some time, the bad guys are all around us.
Report any suspicious activity to the police: 751-7500 or, in an emergincy, 911. Then call me. Be careful. Don't leave easily stolen things like bikes and lawn mowers out in the open where thay can be snatched. If you have an alarm, set it. A friend's house in North Macon was robbed recently because 'it's too hard to set the alarm'.
Be careful.....and don't forget the next meeting Thursday next at the usual place and time.
Ciao

Giving Credit To Chris Krok
When Credit Is Due
When Credit Is Due
Regular readers know that Shock Meister Chris Krok has been the object of some well-deserved, negative writing from this b'log.
Today, however, there are two positive developments coming to light during recent broadcasts to paean him for:
The first is his hard work to bring about a 'Tea Party' to be held on the little park across from City Hall next Wednesday, April 15th, at high noon. That's tax day. Two thousand such protests are planned nationwide. Mr. Krok's efforts in organizing Macon's own T.P. are nothing short of herculean. I will be there and hope many, many Middle Georgia residents 'make the scene' as well. Americans are being taxed to death...we once dealt harshly with 'taxation without representation', now is the time to sock it to the elected representatives who themselves are doing the abusive taxing.
The second is a purely local matter. The Krokster is going after judges and other officials who let arrested criminals get out of jail with a laughingly light bail. Now please understand that Magistrate Judges set bail according to a published 'schedule'. It is up to groups like the Bibb County Sheriff, the DA's office, the sitting judges to establish these rates. We must not over-burden our poor and downtrodden just because they rape, rob, and murder.
Yesterday an article appeared in the MACON T'GRAPH, written by Amy Leigh Womack titled: MEN CHARGED IN STRING OF BURGLARIES IN RIDGE-INGLESIDE NORTH MACON NEIGHBORHOOD. More Words Of Wisdom
from
HERMAN CAIN

HERMAN CAIN
Hello Intelligent Thinker, Even though President Obama denounced America as a "Christian Nation" recently while speaking in Turkey, I want to wish all of you a Happy Easter!
Thank you to all who responded and sent messages to your Senators last week about the Card Check legislation. Although the legislation is dead for now, the Unions and the Democrats in Congress will try again. We will have to be ready for this when Congress returns from Easter recess. (If we are not a "Christian Nation", then why did they take an Easter recess ...just asking!)
While I was in Washington last week one of our political intelligence sources informed me that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is planning to try and pass legislation to provide amnesty to twelve million illegal aliens in this country. The Democrats will try to do this to pick up twelve million "grateful" voters in the 2010 elections. That's just not right!
This is another indication that the Democrats want to completely ignore the laws, the Constitution and "We the People" to cement their control of Congress. We will have to be ready to respond, so try to open your C.A.I.N. Alerts and Updates as soon as you get them, and continue to help spread the word about the Intelligent Thinkers movement. They hope we will not be paying attention, but we will be.
There are now almost 2000 Tax Day Tea Parties planned around the country! As I mentioned previously, find one near you. The message we are sending to Congress and the President is real simple, Stop the spending and suspend the Payroll Tax.
This is still our country! Thanks for being one of the voices being heard.

Appear On C-SPAN
Get Hate Mail
Get Hate Mail
"During the painful years of the Bush regime, we had to endure the slings and arrows of the brown shirts who compose the so-called Republican base. Now that Obama has ascended the throne, the brown shirts of the left are emerging as the more conspicuous barbarians. Thank God it is not the case, as far too many people suppose, that we must be on one of these sides or the other. We can transcend this disgusting political spectrum, placing ourselves neither on the left nor on the right – nor even in the so-called "independent" zone somewhere between them – but rather rising above the entire line and insisting that red-state savagery and blue-state savagery are equally despicable and intolerable. I daresay that the future of our civilization hinges on whether a sufficient number of us will choose this transcendence.
We have featured articles by Robert Higgs earlier in this b'log. His latest piece found on today's Lew Rockwell Dot Com is called MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF MY HATE MAIL and can be accessed directly at http://www.lewrockwell.com/higgs/higgs113.html
Mr Griggs, it seems, did a brief stint on C-SPAN and found that his inbox swollen by emails using the kind of language denied him by his mother.
He sums up much of the frustration many of us feel toward the Federal Government in its current manifestation. His (and mine) is not an anti-Obama thing at all, but is, rather, fueled by the growing power of the central authority which aims to swallow each of us into its maw. The process has been going on for some time....it has accellerated under recent, imperial presidencies.
Our presidents are more powerful than any monarchs or emperors since the human race left its caves and formed communities.
Read and enjoy.....no, read and get angry.

Dropping The Baptist Name In A Nation Of Citizens
The topic is religion on both of Macon's premier talk shows this morning.
I have Kenny and Charles in one ear, the Krokster in the other. Both hot and heavy.
Chris is upset over an article in the MACON T'GRAPH ( http://www.macon.com/198/story/676284.html ) that highlights the 850 member VINEVILLE NORTH BAPTIST CHURCH's name change to NORTHWAY CHURCH OF MACON. The dynamic duo of WPGA is debating the president's recent statement that we are not a Christian nation (or a nation of any other religion) but a 'nation of citizens'.
“Apres vous, citoyen Robespierre.” “Mais non, citoyen Danton, apres vous.”
In Macon nothing roils the talk show waters and rallies the faithful like a good religious donnybrook. We have more churches per capita than any city in the country, after all. We tend to wear our religion on the seat of our britches just to be able to moon others of lesser faith.
But to drop the name 'BAPTIST' must seem to many like the worst kind of apostasy. “We've always been Baptists.' The end of the world must be drawing very, very near.
When a Southern Baptist Church drops that handle, does the church drop it? Is there any kind of retaliation? Does the larger ecclesiastical body take away straight access to the kingdom of heaven? Maybe it raises preferred health insurance rates on preachers, deacons, and organists Just possibly it charges a little extra for sacramental bread and grape juice. Does the individual church continue to send dues to the Southern Baptist Convention?
Switch to wine, guys, you can buy cheap muscatel in any Kroger. After all, Jesus didn't say as he held up the chalice of vino “Take this grape juice in remembrance of me.” And he sure as hell didn't turn plain old water into fresh grape squeezin's at the wedding supper.”
That's the problem with so much of the Bible...it simply doesn't make sense.
As for Obama's telling the Muslim world that The U.S. Isn't a Christian nation, he's absolutely correct. Were we such, given the long history of Christians' slaughtering those who disagree with their stated, narrowly construed views, many of us would be dead for expressing our own, contrary beliefs.
We do not need to become 'A Christian nation' any more than we should turn into 'a Muslim nation'.

One Serious Side To Keeping and Bearing Arms
The following video was sent in by our old friend, Riverside Red. It is several minutes long, but speaks passionately of the practical side of owning and using firearms....not for hunting, not for sport, but for self protection. It sums up the way I, personally, feel about the subject.

Quote Of The Day
From
GEORGIA CARRY DOT ORG
From
GEORGIA CARRY DOT ORG
The gun has been called the great equalizer, meaning that a small person with a gun is equal to a large person, but it is a great equalizer in another way, too. It insures that the people are the equal of their government whenever that government forgets that it is servant and not master of the governed. When the British forgot that they got a revolution. And, as a result, we Americans got a Constitution; a Constitution that, as those who wrote it were determined, would keep men free. If we give up part of that Constitution we give up part of our freedom and increase the chance that we will lose it all. I am not ready to take that risk. I believe that the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms must not be infringed if liberty in America is to survive.

Generation Gap
This sent in by my son, Rob, who has mercifully matured sufficiently to be able to appreciate my sense of humor:
A self-important college freshman walking along the beach took it upon himself to explain to a senior citizen resting on some steps why it was impossible for the older to understand his generation. "You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one," the student said, loud enough for others to hear. "The young people of todaygrew up with television, jet planes, space travel, man walking on the moon. We have nuclear energy, ships, and cell phones, computers at light speed.....a9nd many more."
After a brief silence, the Senior responded as follows: "You're right, son...we didn't have those things when we were young....so we invented them. Now, you arrogant little shit, what are you doing for the next generation?""

Ave Atque Vale
“Hail and Farewell”.
Catullus. Roman. Poet. First B.C. On visiting his brother's tomb not far from Troy.
We Middle Georgians will soon be able to say the same thing to our two, downtown, evanescent Halls of Fame.
The Music. The Sports: HAIL AND FAREWELL.
“So long, it's been good to know ya.”
Dead Men Walking.
Finality.
One shot, two kills.
Macon is losing both halls of fame. Make no mistake about that. It won't happen for a year or two or three but they will head north to Atlanta (or Athens) soon, leaving two empty, useless shells to compliment the vacant temple of the Tubman museum.
Why? The last chance the Halls had was an infusion of money from tourist taxes. That was shot down by the dynamic duo of David Lucas and Robert Brown. Racism did rear its head since Black folks don't visit the halls....
…..filled with heartfelt tributes to Black Musicians and Athletes.
What a shame. We don't deserve our Halls of Fame. Loot them now and watch the downtown continue its slow-motion death dance.
Sure wish we could keep racism out of local politics. But that won't happen, either. It's everywhere in everything we do.
That's Macon, after all, and Macon's dirty not-so-little secret. Racism. Racist politics. Been going on before the Civil War. Will be with us in any post apocalypse USSA.
Despite all the hype to the contrary, the cold hand of death is hovering over our historic downtown. Boosterism and NewTown Macon cannot halt the inevitable descent into oblivion.
Ave atque vale.

04/05/2008
More like the JOKE of the day....sent in by a faithful reader who happens to be my Boston-Based Brother:
Deeply profound thought:
Two men are out just fishing quietly and drinking beer.
Almost silently, so as not to scare the fish, Bob says, 'I think I'm gonna divorce my wife. She hasn't spoken to me in over 2 months.'
Rod continues slowly sipping his beer then thoughtfully says,
'You better think it over, Bob. Women like that are hard to find.'

We have referenced the Bibb Org as 'The Party of Roll Over and Play Dead'. That's been the picture since first I moved to these humid shores more than thirty-two years ago.

Macon City Council Orders National Guard To Monroe County Border
In light of the resolution of the border dispute between Bibb and Monroe Counties, that threatens to turn hundreds of acres of prime real estate long thought to be part of Bibb County over to its northern neighbor, the Macon Council just moments ago voted to send local National Guard units to the border 'to enforce the will of the people of Bibb County.'
Details are sketchy....watch this space.....developing.

Georgia General Assembly Votes Massive Pay Increase For Teachers In Critical Subject Areas
Late in this year's session, The Georgia General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to give incentive pay to teachers in certain key subjects. In many Peach State schools, there are simply not enough certified and qualified men and women to teach and inspire the next generation of young people in these critical areas.
Beginning in September 2009 high school teachers of ancient languages, particularly Classical Greek and Latin, will be paid an average of $3,100 per annum more than teachers of any other subjects within the state curriculum.
The single, lone exemption remains high school football coaches whose pay scale begins at 100K and rises every year thereafter.
A football coach is as close to divinity as most Georgians get, after all.

Chris Krok Offers Tearful Apology
For Sins Committed On-Air
For Sins Committed On-Air
During an uninterrupted, commercial free, thirty-five minute monologue early this morning the Krokster was heard to say (among other things):
“First let me apologize to Councilwoman Elaine Lucas. I have wronged her for more than two-hundred days now telling falsehoods about her, attempting to poison the electorate against her, denying that she , more than any other member of the Macon City Council, has the best interests of the city at heart.”
and
“I also want to apologize to my listeners whom I have offered nothing but diatribe, slant, half-truth, and intellectual dishonesty, a serious charge for one who earned a Phi Beta Kappa key in college. I promise to pay more attention to the wisdom inherent in Luke Angelo's b'log, THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO LUKE. That will keep me on my toes and help me walk in the path of truth and light.”
and
“Part of my problem has been, from the very beginning, that I have been assigned to this miserable little part of the state after tasting the high life in Atlanta for two years. Like others of my kind, I want to make it big in some place like New York or Dallas where the pay is enormous and the fans beautiful and charming.”
Keep it up Chris and some day you, too may become a real boy.

Dirty Iguana Nightclub
SOLD
SOLD
Following the gang related shooting following 'Teen Night' at Macon's most infamous downtown nightspot, The Dirty Iguana, Hamishh Patel, owner, announced yesterday that the he has completed negotiations to sell the club outright before the end of the week.
The purchaser, whose identity was confirmed only after a search of Bibb County Property Records is The Southern Baptist Convention, parent organization of The Southern Baptist (SoB) Church. Although the plans for the denomination's use of the building have not yet been finalized, a poll of its hierarchy indicated that that the site would most likely serve as a 'Reach Out' center, extending the hand of God to Macon's street level poor and downtrodden including addicts, alcoholics, unwed mothers, gang members, pimps, prostitutes, murderers, rapists, Roman Catholics, Jews and Muslims.
The Convention plans to open a second center in North Macon to aid embezzlers and other white collar criminals sometime before the end of the summer.
In addition, an as yet undisclosed residence somewhere in Country Club Estates has already been purchased and will be turned into a half-way house for recovering addicts, alcoholics, and violent offenders wishing to re-enter polite society.

Mayor Reichert Resigns
The entire structure of Macon's city government was thrown into turmoil late last night by the sudden and unexpected resignation of Mayor Reichert.
Freshman Councilman Virgil Watkins said upon receiving the news, “Didn't expect that, no sir, no way, Dude, know what I mean?” Other members of the Macon City Council were equally circumspect.
When announcing his resignation last night on Channel 24's FoxFiles, Mr. Reichert produced a little-known city statute which states in part “Upon voluntary resignation of the Mayor from his high office for any reason whatsoever, he and he alone shall have both the right and obligation to appoint a successor of his own choosing, pending approval of a two-thirds majority of the Macon City Council.”
Ex-Mayor Reichert's surprise appointment of former head honcho, C. Jack Ellis to assume once again the reins of city government was, to be completely accurate, not anticipated.
Council approval is virtually guaranteed.
Before the end of FoxFiles, Mr. Ellis called in and sang a brief, outr-of-tune rendition of, “I'M BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN.”
