Term Limits
or
Us vs Them
or
Us vs Them
”Term limitation is a very important reform, though it certainly won’t by itself provide all the discipline governments require. What the issue does accomplish, with its near universal popularity, is a clear demonstration of the degree to which voters are in charge.
When voters get to decide the issue directly, and aren’t mugged by people like Mayor Bloomberg, voters choose term limits. Where there are no such limits — in Congress and most state legislatures — those in power can simply trump the people.”
Paul Jacob sees an America divided.
No, not by race, not by wealth, not by political party.
There are, simply put, two warring entities: the first is POLITICIANS; the second, THE PEOPLE, voters most particularly.
To diminish the power of politicians we need term limits. It is so simple a concept, which has never taken hold inside the beltway and in State Capitals just like the Fair Tax or anything that might take away the raw power of these souls who tend to grow more corrupt, more power hungry with each election.
Read Paul Jacob’s column In Open Contests Voters Beat Politicians
Great stuff. It’s high time to take our country back.

Remember Ron Fraiser?
I sure as heck do. He is the most experienced radio personality to grace Middle Georgia’s airwaves in many a moon.
He came to WMAC following the departure of Kenny and Jami, teamed with Shane McBryde for a short while until the latter’s celebrated bust, then held down a three hour morning gig as well as doing the News Director’s job at the station.
Then along came Chris Krok.

Surpassing All Expectations

I can't recall anything like this in the three decades visiting gun shows in Perry.
House packed with venders, customers lined up even in a downpour, and BAM..9:00 the gates open and the flood doesn't quit until 5:00.
Weather will be better tomorrow (Sunday), please, if you crave an excellent gun and knife show, vist Matt Eastman's at the Agricenter.

The Cat Came Back
You keep asking about the cat.
Emails, “How’s the cat?”
You know, the cat trapped thirty feet up in a massive tree…afraid or unable to come down. Meowing the nights away. Slowly starving. Dehydrated. Cold. Wet. Worrying neurotic old me to near death.
Let me tell you about the cat

......under a sink, so he calls Joe the Plumber to come and fix it.
Joe drives to Obama’s house, which is located in a very nice neighborhood and where it’s clear that all the residents make more than $250,000 per year. Joe arrives and takes his tools into the house. Joe is led to the room that contains the leaky pipe under a sink. Joe assesses the problem and tells Obama, who is standing near the door, that it's an easy repair that will take less than 10 minutes.
Obama asks Joe how much it will cost.
Joe immediately says, "$9,500."
"$9,500?" Obama asks, stunned. "But you said it's an easy repair!"

ROSEY BOMBS
Coulen’t Happen To A Nicer Girl
Coulen’t Happen To A Nicer Girl
”Ms. O'Donnell can be very funny, but she didn't try very hard Wednesday night. Her opening monologue was a riff about her weight, focused on her Spanx support garments, which she described as "onesies for chubby fortysomethings." But Spanx underwear is an overused joke. As she did on "The View," Ms. O'Donnell brought up that she was gay but added a coy comedy bit that didn't really match her usual outspokenness.”
So writes New York Times reviewer, wonderfully acerbic Allesandra Stanley, in HOKEY COMEDY WITH AN ENEMY LIST
Not a Rosey O’D fan myself, I did not view her variety show….nor shall I ever. From the sound of Ms Stanley’s review, it will be an extremely short-lived venture.
Bye-Bye!!!

The War That Started All Wars
I have been a bit of a student of World War 1 since I was eight or so and read one of those ‘rousing’, ‘manly’ juvenile novels describing neutral American youth caught behind German lines in August, 1914.
It is now a hundred or more books devoted to this subject later. I have also toured a number of spirit-haunted battlefields. Visiting such places is a deeply spiritual experience not unlike a leisurely stroll over the Gettysburg Battlefield or, for me, at least, the ruins of ancient Troy.
Years ago I interviewed dozens of men who served as combat troops in the war...back when we were blessed enough to have survivors of its horrors among us. My old scoutmaster in the 40's and early '50's was a Marine combat vetern. His tales told around the dying embers of a campfire sent shivers up our young spines, shivers which can still be re-created through vivid memories of those wonderful nights.
In this audio clip Lew Rockwell interviews pundit-historian Eric Margolis.

November 25th, 2008
Bibb Sheriff’s Patrolman Cameron Thomas responded to an entering auto in progress call at 2 AM this morning. Residents of the Falls at Spring Creek Apartments 1900 Wesleyan Drive had spotted two suspects breaking into a vehicle in the parking lot. Deputy Thomas arrived and briefly detained 18 year old Jones County resident Darrell Eugene Fuller of 126 River Hills Lane in a separate area of the complex before reaching the witnesses.
While Deputy Thomas spoke with witnesses and just as they identified Fuller as one of the suspects, he fled the area on foot, leaving his driver’s license in Deputy Thomas’ possession. Deputies recovered a blue1996 Honda Accord that had been occupied by the suspects abandoned in the parking area. A short time later, Bibb Sheriff’s Patrolman Thomas Kent, while searching the area for the fleeing suspects, spotted 18 year old Jones County resident Cory Michael Gladin of 103 Trophy Court. Gladin was walking in the 4100 block of Arkwright Road. Gladin was wet, covered in grass and dirt and fit a detailed description of the second suspect provided by the witnesses. The witnesses both identified Gladin as the second suspect.
Corey Michael Gladin was arrested and transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex where he was charged Entering an Auto. A felony warrant for Entering Auto has been obtained for Darrell Eugene Fuller. Anyone with information on Fuller is asked to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 746-9441 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME. This is Gladin’s first arrest at the Bibb County LEC. Fuller has been booked into the Bibb LEC on two previous occasions reference Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of an Article with an Altered Serial Number and DUI.

re: Hillary and Obama and State
"The Blind Leading The Blind"
"The Blind Leading The Blind"
Here is a Dick Morris column which came in over night. It is critical of Mrs. Clinton's likely-to-be-appointment as Secretary of State.
Morris knows the Clinton's as does nobody else. An insider for years, he was never caught up in the elcat of their reign and has an ability to be just a little more objective than any true friend or foe. Here Morris sheds light on the growing mystery as to why Obama has reached way back into the Clinton era to populate his administration with folks insanely loyal to Bill.
You can read this most persuasive essay at: Himmary Nomination Would Be An Obama-Nation
Read critically and think about what it all means....really means.

Mike Adams on:

Prop 8
and
Pepperdine’s Pres
”What is not appropriate is trying to appease these radicals. Gay activists are never satisfied and they are never happy. It is far better to side with their opponents. That way, a majority of people (Remember: Proposition 8 supporters are a majority) could have been satisfied. By trying to please everyone, Benton has succeeded in pleasing very few people in the short term.”
He have here Professor Adams second column dealing with California’s Pepperdine University.
This time he goes after President Benton’s wishy washy stand on a professor’s Anti-Proposition 8 public statements. Prop 9, you recall, was the voter initiative that defined marriage as a union between a man and a woman…nothing else. It passed during the general election and has been savaged by goy rights folks ever since. It is now in the hands of the California Supreme Court.
Pepperdine is ostensibly a Christian school and, notes Adams, should not be afraid to side with the angels and support the initiative.
Read it for yourself at Benton Out Of Shape On Proposition 8
The piece was part of this morning’s Town Hall Newsletter.
Funny you should ask, I don’t agree with much of what Adam’s says for it is far too Bible oriented for this aging atheist. But it’s a good early morning read, anyway.
Ciao.

Who Killed Detroit???
Riverside Red sent in today a great little article called WHO KILLED DETROIT?
It is a piece well worth our reading. The problem is a complicated one; there no simple answer.
Problem was the email didn’t have a source cited. So a few minutes on the old Google brought me to MSNBC and column written by The Old Resident Curmudgeon himself, Pat Buchanan. Another few minutes brought us to Town Hall where the same article apparently appeared although I don’t recall running across in my daily sojourns into Townhall Territory.
So now we can bring you at least one link and save some bandwidth as we no longer have to reproduce the entire thing.

Is It Obama’s First Term
or
Clinton’s Third?
or
Clinton’s Third?
”So now, what are we to make of the return of the Clinton gang to Washington? As one liberal blogger noted, “Barack Obama acted all hopey and changey to get elected,” but now that he’s actually going to be President, he needs to staff-up with people “who actually know what they’re doing.”
Many of us have been wondering about President Elect Obama’s choice of so many Clintonistas to his administration.
“Change” seems not the operative term in these several appointments, it’s more like “Same Old, Same Old”. Conservatives are confused and angry, liberals incensed and betrayed.
There will be much more written here and elsewhere on this subject. But here is a good starting place. In this morning’s Town Hall Newsletter. Written by Austin Hill, Is Obama Embarking On Bill Clinton’s Third Term?
Provocative read, good thinking. But we are far from the truth on this matter.

Some time around 7:00 PM this evening, a bag of tools was stolen from a working utility truck parked in a driveway on Senate Place.
The purloined tools include electronic equipment and are valued at about a thousand dollars.
Apparently the theft was premeditated and not a crime of opportunity. The truck's owner thought he heard footsteps in the darkness when he got home from work. He then went inside to feed his cats, returning twenty minutes later. The deed was already done.
Apparently the slimeball is on foot and may have stashed the tools which weigh at least fifty pounds somewhere in the neighborhood.
If you find a bag of tools in a place where they are not supposed to be, call 751-7500 and report it to the Macon PD.
Be careful.

Practical Advice
for
Firearms Owners
for
Firearms Owners
There is a feeding frenzy taking place at gun counters all over the country.
Starting with the day after the election, the nation is witnessing an unprecedented surge of ordinary citizens arming themselves.
Some see armed conflict looming ahead, others fear the government's heading towards confiscation of our shootin' pieces, others simply want to 'own a assault weapon' before the ban.
We are afraid. HOWEVER....
If you already known a weapon with which you are comfortable, why join the rush? WHat the average gun owner needs to do, if frightened, is to stock up not on more guns but on magazines and ammunition for weapons already in his home.
Stock up on the tools needed to feed your rifles, pistols, or shotguns.
And, perhaps most important, learn to use those you already have. Practice....practice.....practice. Solid advice for the athlete, just as important for the firearm owner.
It's not very bright to get into a major firefight with twent rounds of ammo for your Colt 1911.
And don't panic. Panic causes us to react stupidly.
Just Remember this advice from William Shatner: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AYG4y5et5g

COMMON SENSE
on the
BailOut
Here’s a revelation: A story headlined, “Bailout funds being spent in ways Congress never foresaw.”
What? Our omniscient congressmen failed to forecast the fate of their latest multifarious munificence?
You know, whenever I myself spend hundreds of billions on random questionable socialistic takeovers of the economy, I always demand an itemized account of exactly what I will get in return. Always.
It seems that the $700 billion just authorized by Congress is not only being spent on buying up troubled mortgages but is changing into a “broader bailout of all sorts of troubled businesses.” Some banks used the money to buy other banks instead of to “spur more lending.” And other recipients are paying dividends to stockholders.
Apparently, various central planners of our economy expected those receiving the money to use it in more publicly spirited fashion.
Such caviling ignores the real problem, which is more basic. You can’t cure the effects of gignormous debt creation and gignormous subsidizing of unwise enterprises with even more gignormous debt creation and gignormous subsidizing.
If massive intervention in markets caused the economy to curdle, roll back the massive intervention. Let investors take risks with their own money.
But don’t get drunk all over again, faster and harder, and expect that this time there won’t be any hangover.
This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

I Have Had A Dream
Seated at my desk, I heard a knock on the door. The kitchen door.
The door opening out from a messy kitchen…last night’s dishes not washed, no filth…just mess. Unwashed cat dishes on the floor, some clay kicked jauntily from the litter box.
When said door opened there stood a man, a very large man, dressed in a black suit, wearing a black hat and dark glasses, carrying what appeared to be a firearm…a rifle or carbine, weird looking like some futuristic weapon no normal man would carry either to the hunt or into battle.
I wanted one immediately

The Election Of A Black Man To The Presidency
The Election Of A Black Man To The Presidency
A clear majority of American voters — of all races — voted for Barack Obama. They now celebrate his victory.
Me? Not so much.
Oh, I like Obama’s talk about there not being red states and blue states, urging that we get past partisanship. I just don’t recall him ever bucking his own party.
I like that he talks about reviewing all government programs and ending those that don’t work, expanding those that do. But, after several years in Washington, he’s yet to name the first program he’d scrap. Don’t hold your breath now.
I like his bashing of the corrupt insider games in Washington. And then I see that those around him are insiders who have been running government for decades.
So, I’m still counting on you to save our country. Not Obama.
Yet, the election of a black man to the presidency does seem a fitting time to celebrate just how far we have come, and, moreover, to say thanks to those who risked so much to obtain equal rights and justice.
Let’s hear it for equal rights and justice!
Even in my short 48 years in this great country, I can recall a different day and time. Then, Americans lived in fear over the issue of race; then, black Americans could hardly be said to live in freedom.
We can rejoice in leaving that past far behind — whether we voted for the candidate who to some symbolizes it, or not.
This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

What we’re seeing in the gun stores this week is not a nation arming itself for revolt, but Americans in a thoroughly defensive mode, stocking up now to avoid the Democratic gun bans they believe are coming. What many Americans fear is that Barack Obama – aided by congressional allies like Senators Dianne Feinstein of California and Charles Schumer of New York – will revert to his true, pre-campaign nature come Jan. 20, and once more move to take away Americans’ guns.”
Here is a solid column appearing on this morning’s Lew Rockwell Newsletter.
Vin Suprynowicz, editor and author, gives us here an insightful piece that takes a close look at the reasons why sales of guns and ammunition are ‘going through the roof’ since Obama was elected. People are afraid, for sure, but what are they afraid of?
You might find answers to that question if you click on Less Than Sixty Days To The Obama Gun Grab
Gotta run. Have to go to my dealer and pick up a thousand rounds of .223. Don’t want to be late.

Writes Debbie: “I am extremely concerned about the hateful tone of pundits who make money from stirring up needless division and spreading misinformation.”
Replies Mike: “Deb, it may surprise you but I agree. That is why I’ve stopped reading the New York Times and all of its local affiliates, including the Wilmington McTimes, here in Wilmington, North Carolina. I have also blocked access to The Daily Kos, The Huffington Post, and MSNBC.com on all of the computers in my home. I’m really trying to do my part. So far, I have no problem with anything you’ve written.”
Mike Adams responds to a critic who longs for a gentler and kinder America.
This column will surprise you and I don’t want to give anything away but while I agree on the gift of a Remington 870 and a Ruger 10/22, the other choices are in personal dispute for this old man. Has Mike ever considered the AK-47, for instance, or the Bersa 380 Thunder for the little woman?

We Don't Need No Stinkin' Ethics Reform
Good for the Bibb County Commission.
They voted 4-to-1 not to adopt a code of ethics proposed by outgoing Commission Chairman, Charlie Bishop.
The four negatives got to stick it into Mr. Bishop's lame duck eye and take a savage swipe at Joe Allen's nemesis, Maurice Atkinson.
We can continue with business as usual, unfettered by any awkward, old-fashioned notions of right and wrong, good and evil,
The Bibb County Commission can now stand four-square with other political entities in this mighty country of ours, all the way up to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, entities that ignore the constraints of genuine morality in government.
The only statement that now seems to matter is, "Whatever you do, don't Get Caught".

UPDATE ON THE WARNING BELOW:
AN UNKNOWN SUSPECT DRIVING A SMALL RED SUV WITH A TIRE RACK WAS CAPTURED ON VIDEO AT THE CRACKER BARREL RESTAURANT ON RIVERSIDE DRIVE PULLING ON VARIOUS VEHICLE DOOR HANDLES IN THE PARKING LOT. BE ALERT FOR SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OF THIS TYPE. THE SUSPECT REMAINED IN THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 4 MINUTES UNTIL THE COAST WAS CLEAR. IF YOU NOTICE SUSPCIOUS PERSONS LOITERING IN PARKING LOTS, NOTIFY MANAGEMENT AND LAW ENFORCEMENT. TRY TO GET A TAG NUMBER WHEN SAFELY POSSIBLE.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an on-going series of entering autos in the North Bibb area including Tom Hill Sr. Blvd, Northside Drive and the corresponding stretch of Riverside Drive. The thefts have occurred at Longhorn’s, Cheddars, Cracker Barrel, Regal Cinemas and the Wellness Center. The thief is most often entering the vehicles by inserting a screw driver just below the door handle although in other instances windows were broken. Some vehicles were left unlocked and some windows were partially down.
Please be especially alert for suspicious persons in these areas while you are shopping or working. Report suspicious persons immediately to law enforcement (Bibb Sheriff = 746-9441) (Macon PD = 751-7500). ALWAYS LOCK YOUR VEHICLES AND ROLL WINDOWS UP WHEN PARKING. PARK AS CLOSE TO THE BUILDING AS POSSIBLE OR CLOSE TO MAIN TRAFFIC AREAS WHERE YOUR VEHICLE CAN BE SEEN BY OTHERS. Do not leave valuables in your car. This morning on the air Chris krokie referred to David Corr as 'that loonie libertarian'.
Isn't that a prime example of the 'the pot calling the kettle black', which is not a racist comment, but refers to the soot and cooking detritus collected on kitchen utensils. back in the wood stove days?
Mr. Corr is a reasonable, intelligent, well-educated, experienced, articulate, contributing member of our society......

Who You Gonna Call?
There is a silly controversy swirling about the city of Macon this morning.
Passions are being aroused over whether members of the Macon PD should be allowed to take their squad cars to a second job. The low pay of our officers often necessitates a second job just to put food in their kids’ mouths.
The answer is OF COURSE THEY SHOULD!!!! And they should be allowed to drive their city vehicles home, parking them there. We have here an obvious (and cost effective) way to spread the police presence around our officer-sort city.
If any officer would like to park his or her cruiser in front of my residence on Boulevard, please do so at any time for as long as you like.
That this practice is open for debate is just plain short-sighted.
There is a thug in a hoodie trying to break into your home. Who you gonna call? A city council member? A city engineer? A garbage collector? The mayor? A member of the ACLU?
Hell, no. You will contact 911 and hope there is an officer close at hand.
Ciao
PS: hope you also have a legal firearm handy!!! That's another excellent form of deterrence.

Apropos Of The Screwed Up GOP-Chambliss Campaign
I have sent several of those who think this b'log has been too harsh on Senator Chambliss and the Georgia GOP a copy of an email received this afternoon......dated November 11th. (today)
It announces four events.
The first three are rallies in Fulton County, Ellijay, and Calhoun which took place last Saturday.
The fourth billed as THE FAIR TAX RALLY, featuring Neal Boortz, Congressman John Linder, and former candidate for president Mike Huckabee, was held YESTERDAY, November 16th.
In other words, Saxby's campaign informed this voter and b'logster of these events AFTER they happened.
Folks, I rest my csae. I will vote for the Senator in fifteen days, but if he loses to 'Weasel' Martin it is due to the tired, Ineffectual, cavalier, and downright sloppy way his campaign is being 'waged'.
What is wrong with the state's Republican Party?

”What the hell is happening at the once-great and once-conservative Pepperdine University?”
”Any university that decides to hire a Director of Intercultural Affairs is a university that will soon find itself in rapid decline. Put simply, it is a decision that the university is beginning to take seriously the notion of multi-culturalism. The advancement of multiculturalism, by the way, promotes tolerance of all ideas. Of course, the idea that there is something special about Western civilization in general or American culture in particular is an exception to the rule.”
Mike Adams again, hard at work attacking the bigoted, narrowly construed notion of ‘cultural diversity’ as is practiced at California’s Pepperdine University, a school like so many others that is backpedaling from the great traditions of Western Civilization.
Today’s piece is the first half of a two-parter. It was, of course, found on this morning’s Town Hall newsletter and may be accessed directly at Lawrence of Eurabia
Well done, Mike. Yours is a keen insight into the morass modern American academe is fast becoming.

Will Georgia's GOP Go Down In Flames
Unelecting Saxby Chambliss?
Unelecting Saxby Chambliss?
There seems to be something very wrong with the Georgia GOP.
The way the campaign for Saxby’s re-election is being run is a travesty of political justice.
TV ads already tired and worn by the general election are being dredged up to go against fresh campaign material promoted by the Democrats and Jim Martin.
Is the state Republican Party trying to lose this election, an election which stands as perhaps the only chance the GOP has in gaining some clout following the Democrats’ near-landslide?
I have not personally been associated with any political party during a major election since 1976 when I shilled for Gerry Ford way in Massachusetts. The Grand Olds in the Bay State were then as ineffectual as Georgia’s Republican Party is today. We made some phone calls, patted ourselves on the back that we were morally superior somehow, and returned to the comfort of our suburban dwellings secure in the belief that we were above the racial fray becoming evident in parts of Boston proper.
We never really campaigned....compaigned hard. The parallel is all too obvious.
The Democrats are beating Saxby’s guys to the punch at almost every turn. They are out in the neighborhoods going door to door, holding countless small, local get-togethers, dunning voters with phone calls and mail, bringing in the party’s national big guns to push Martin’s campaign over the top. And, of course, they flood the airways with radio and TV ads hoping to catch a ride on Obama’s popularity.
The Republicans have held one massive rally featuring a bone weary John McCain, made a few calls to registered voters, and little else. I don’t see them pounding the streets, going into neighborhoods both black and white, stirring up the many base voters who are still on the fence, trying to repair some of the damage the Senator’s positions on bailout and illegal immigration have caused. They are running weeks-old TV spots and a few newer versions that trumpet both candidates' fiscal records without actually saying anything of substance. We hear that Martin is a ‘liberal’, but nobody is championing the incumbent as a ‘conservative’.
Time to get on the stick, GOP….to put it bluntly, get your butts in gear and go hence to wage a real campaign. You might not have the will….and if you don’t, and if Senator Chambliss doesn’t come out swinging, the Democrats will have their filibuster proof Senate. We may never see another true conservative star rise in the firmament in our life times.
Houston county is one bright spot. Those guys are eager, motivated, intelligent, and organized. Click MORE to read Aaron Hufstetler’s latest letter to the faithful. This is how campaigns are won without cheating or sacrificing integrity.

The Devil’s Comin’ Down To Georgia
”While Georgia is a red state, having voted for McCain, it has a large minority base in liberal Atlanta and the Democrats have proven their ability to get out their vote. Obama's entire political machine - which outdueled the Republican Party in the election - will now move down to Georgia. They know that his ability to govern without legislative fetters teeters in the balance.”
What the hell is wrong with the Georgia GOP?
Rhetorical question for the moment, we will come back to it later in the day.
But for the moment I want you to take a look at It All Comes Down To Georgia a brief piece from the Dick Morris machine, in which our pundit points out in no uncertain terms that the current Senate run-off is the only chance, albeit slim, that conservatives have to stop or at least slow down the Obama steamroller once the Presidency and both houses of Congress are in the hands of the unholy trinity of Obama, Reid, and Pelosi.
The Democrats are pulling out all the stops on this one. Ex-Potus Clinton will be in our midst shortly, possibly Algore, probably Obama and maybe Biden in the flesh. While the dems hustle, the Republicans are bemoaning the declining value of their stock portfolios all the time sitting on their collective arse.
Sixteen days until the run-off. Take some action, some personal responsibility. Vote and make sure your friends, neighbors, and relatives do likewise. Turnout is the likely key to victory in December.
Read Mr. Morris' column. Weep if you must Then turn out, please. Time for a conservative revolution, not good old boy business as usual.

GOP Crying ‘Socialism’ In A Crowded Election
”In America, socialism is un-American. Instead, Americans merely do rent-seeking -- bending government for the benefit of private factions. The difference is in degree, including the degree of candor. The rehabilitation of conservatism cannot begin until conservatives are candid about their complicity in what government has become. “
George Will lays bare the very sensitive subject of what is being termed ‘socialism’ by the morally defunct GOP.
Great column….good short read…If we’re going to get any kind of a genuine conservative movement going, we need to be aware of the fact that many claiming to be ‘conservatives’ are lying through their teeth.
Mr. Will’s column appeared in this mornings edition of Town Hall and can be accessed directly at The Hyperbole Of A Conservative
Well done, George; well done, indeed.

Coming Soon To Middle Georgia
EASTMAN GUN SHOWS
EASTMAN GUN SHOWS
We’re lucky, here in the mid state.
We have two gun shows coming up soon brought this way by the incomperable Matt Eastman who puts on the biggest and the best shows of their kind anywhere in Georgia.
On the weekend on November 29th –30th, when the memories of a glorious Thanksgiving feast are still in your mind, Matt’s first show will hit the Perry Agricenter. Two weeks later, on December 13th-14th an enlarged version will take over the Macon Centreplex just as you are getting antsy to do some serious Christmas shopping for loved ones, a Glock, perhaps, for the little lady; that just right starter gun for junior; the side-by-side your Pop was always denying himself preferring to spend his hard-earned dough to put you through years and years of school.

Did Krok Urge Vigilante Justice?
Friends are a wonderful thing to have.
Especially here in Macon when they hear the latest bit of wit and wisdom spewing forth from the clueless brain of shock jock wannabe Chris Krok.
I tuned him in, listened for a while, then heard him 'suggest', 'uurge', 'exhort', armed citizens to drive down to a well-known ATM machine on Pio Nono, a machine at which several folks have been robbed in recent weeks. He told his listeners that even if they didn't have a Georgia Carry Permit they could still, legally, have a loaded weapon on the front seat of the car. The citizen was then instructed to wait near this particular ATM and, when they see a robbery in progress, take the firearm, force the alledged perpetrator to lie down on the ground and make acitizen's arrest' If said slimeball has a weapon or resists, he should be shot.
Wait a minute folks. didn't Krok utter what seems to be the on-air equivalent of "FIRE" in a crowded theatre?
This is dangerous stuff....the stuff of lynching and vigilante justice. Most of us who have a firearm and a valid Carry Permit us the weapon for self defense or for the protection of life and property. We do not go out and play cops and robbers putting ourselves and others in harm's way at the whim of a stupidly short sighted fool who has access to a microphone. We are civilians, we are not the police.
John Rodriguez, you need to take action on this matter before said clown gets you and your station into deep, soupy doo-doo.

TERM LIMITS
and
COMMON SENSE
and
COMMON SENSE
This just in from Paul Jacob. Wonder why common sense flies out the window just as soon as some clown gets elected to just about anything:
Congressman Randy Kuhl had an idea: Ask his constituents what legislation they would like him to propose to fix Washington. Out of many suggestions, he picked five for constituents to vote on. Whichever proposal got the most support would be submitted to his colleagues as legislation. Over one thousand voters in Kuhl’s district participated.
He called it the Fix Washington Project.
While the contest was still underway, I reported that 12-year term limits on Congress was one of the five options. Throwing caution to the wind, I predicted term limits would triumph. Was I right?
Before I answer, let me say how much I like the idea of voters getting involved in proposing legislation. In fact, I think voters should have a way to bypass legislators altogether and pass laws directly. Half the states of the union have a formal process for enabling this. It’s called “citizen initiative.”
Okay, enough suspense. Congressional term limits collected 43 percent of the vote in Kuhl’s contest, winning the greatest support of any of the five alternatives.
I’m no soothsayer. Term limits have always been popular with voters. A recent Rasmussen Reports poll shows 83 percent support for congressional term limits.
So hats off to Congressman Kuhl. But your term limits legislation is no doubt going to be more popular with your constituents than with your colleagues back in Washington.
This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

Are We A Communist Country Yet?
Are We A Communist Country Yet?
How close to being a ‘Communist’ nation is The United States?
Be careful how you answer that little old rhetorical question. Here is a provocative article by Robert Higgs found in this morning’s Lew Rockwell Newsletter. It’s called Are We There Yet? Are We There Yet: Let's Check Marx and Engels's List and gives us much to think about.
Mr. Higgs centers his discussion around “the list of ten measures that Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels presented in the Manifesto of the Communist Party as "pretty generally applicable" for the establishment of communism "in the most advanced countries."
Given below are the ten Marxian principles. Mr. Higgs fleshes them out at: HERE.
Have we arrived at Communism’ yet, Daddy, or do we have to wait a few more years?
1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
3. Abolition of all right of inheritance.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.
6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the state.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state; the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan..
8. Equal obligation of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between towns and country, by a more equable distribution of the population over the country.
10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of child factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc.
Folks, this country is in greater danger than most of us realize.

HUMOR
The following joke was told by the teen-age son of a friend. Both prefer to remain anonymous for obvious reasons:
A Doctor calls his patient and says, "I have both bad and horrible news for you."
Replies the patient, "What's the bad news?"
Doctor, "You have only twenty-four hours to live."
Patient, "Then what's the horrible news?"
Doctor, "I forgot to call you yesterday."

"SUPPORT SAXBY"
Says Erick Erickson
Says Erick Erickson
An email from ERICK ERICKSON of RED STATE DOT COM:
Don:
Today there are three U.S. Senate races currently unresolved: Norm Coleman faces a recount in his victory over Al Franken, Ted Stevens has a narrow lead in his re-election bid, and Saxby Chambliss faces a runoff on December 2 against his Democratic challenger. Chambliss deserves any support you can offer -- financial or otherwise -- and we urge all conservatives to do what they can to make sure he wins his runoff and returns to the Senate to fight for strong national defense, free markets, and a smaller government.
National Democrats have made the defeat of Saxby Chambliss one of their top priorities this cycle. They never forgave him for defeating Max Cleland in 2002, and they have resented his conservative stance on issue after issue. They recognize that Chambliss is a vote against Barack Obama's agenda of tax increases, profligate spending, radical education policies, and surrender in the war on terror. They know that Chambliss can be counted on to sustain filibusters against card check and giveaways to liberal constituencies
Beyond that, the liberal leadership in Washington D.C. recognizes that Chambliss' vote is critical. They have already secured 57 votes in the Senate, and if the Democrats manage to win the three remaining races, they'll attain their longstanding goal of a filibuster-proof majority. We can't count on our lawyers being shrewder than their lawyers in Alaska and Minnesota as the only way to preserve 41 votes in the U.S. Senate. We need a clean victory in Georgia that creative vote counting can't take away.
As Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid begin to plan their agenda for the years ahead, conservatives must not let up until the 2008 elections are concluded. And that means doing everything we can to re-elect Saxby Chambliss today. After all, regardless what happens in other races, we can't gamble that all Senate Republicans will stick together on every radical proposal from the Obama administration. Some may vote in favor of some Democratic initiatives; some may be replaced by Democrats in the next few years. In other words, 41 Senate Republicans may not be enough to prevent the enactment of terrible policies. We need to re-elect principled conservatives like Saxby Chambliss at every opportunity.
Please consider making a donation to Saxby Chambliss today. If you can't donate to support this effort, there are other ways that you can help out. Please consider signing up as a volunteer. Anything you do today will help promote good government for the next 6 years -- or more.

How To Find The Two Letters Of Complaint Aimed At The Macon PD
We published the two letters of complaint from decorated police Lieutenant Tracey Brazee when the scandal broke beginning near the end of September.
Many of you have asked me to reprint them and new readers have come aboard.
That won’t be necessary. This b’log has a good internal search engine. If you are reading this simply look to the left and find an oblong box with the word FIND underneath. In the box type in SCANDAL click FIND and wait a second. A number of linked titles will pop up. The two you want are titled:
1. Letter From A Police Officer: A WHIFF SCANDAL IN THE MACON PD
and
2. A Second Letter of Complaint about the Macon Police Department
Simply click on those titles to read Officer Brazee’s formal complaints. They are long but totally absorbing.

Phone call about six in the AM. Nothing unusual about that. Friends know cats demand feeding then and connive accordingly to insure the old man is ready to do their imperial bidding.
This one was more than a little insistent…”Don listen to Krok. He’s sure full of it today.” Click.
Nothing unusual in that either, thought I, but switched off the dulcet nuances of Kenny B. and Charles whatever-they-call-him these days and returned to WMAC AM whose reputation in the pre-Boortz hours seems to be falling faster than Cumulus stock on Wall Street.

Lower Boulevard Auto Break-In

A mobile travel trailer parked on the street was broken into sometime between last night and early this afternoon. The police have already been involved, prints taken, and clues weighed.
If anybody saw any suspicious activity in the area of the ally leading up to Laurel Street, please call 751-7500, which is the non-emergency MPD number.
And please, please be careful of your own. Most crimes like this are not premeditated. They are termed ‘crimes of opportunity’. Without opportunity, your chances of being robbed or worst by the bad guys are lots less.
If you see anybody you don’t know in the neighborhood, call the same number. The police would rather we erred on the side of caution.
Ciao,
Don

COMMON SENSE

When Samuel Wurzelbacher hit the news as “Joe the Plumber,” his story played well. Presidential candidate Barack Obama had been going door to door, with cameras, in an elaborate meet-and-greet binge. When he got to Wurzelbacher’s door, he got an earful. And John McCain got one of his few opportunities to really do some damage to the Obama juggernaut.
Now, the election is over, and new causes will be celebrated and reviled. But Joe’s right to speak his mind remains a live issue, one that we should all worry about.
Yes, there’s more to this story than you may have heard.
Here’s the rest of the story: Soon after his newfound notoriety, the real Joe, Mr. Wurzelbacher, found himself under investigation by the local police.
It’s an old, ignoble tradition throughout much of the world: A person speaks up, out come the billy clubs.
Fortunately, the investigation into his private records was nipped in the bud. The records clerk who actually made the inquiry has found herself under investigation. She’s even been charged with “gross misconduct" for allegedly making an improper, politically-based inquiry.
We’ll see if the investigation goes further than just this one clerk. The higher-up who approved the probe, Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, has defended her move. Will her maximum contributions to Mr. Obama’s campaign be judged irrelevant?
We’ll see.
This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

Most Irritating Phrases
Complied by Brits at Oxford
Here they are. Some of them have made their way across the pond. Most of us use one or more of them once in a while. Since John Dean testified at the Watergate Hearings 'back in the day' we Yanks tend to say 'at this point in time', which sounds more legalistic, I think.
There is a local radio personality blessed with a relatively small cranial capacity who has been heard using 'shouldn't of' and 24/7 in the same sentence, which I personally find fairly unique here at the end of the day, with all due respect to the miscreant. His patter is a nightmare, absolutely it's a nightmare. Doesn't take rocket science to figure where that doofus went to college.

EASTMAN GUN SHOWS
COMING TO TOWN
COMING TO TOWN
It seems a long time since Middle Georgia has seen a great gun show.
The wait is almost over. Matt Eastman is bringing two of his mammoth, spectacular, and thoroughly delightful shows to Middle Georgia in the next very few weeks.
The first will take place at the Agricenter in Perry the weekend of November 29-30. Two weeks later Macon Centreplex will be transformed into the biggest gun show ever to hit our area, December 13-14.
Just in time for holiday shopping. “Buy your gal a Glock.” “How about an AK for grandpa?”
Keep watching this space for updates. Gun shows are great fun for the entire family. Tickets are only seven bucks at the door. Kids under twelve get in free. You can enjoy an entire day of quality entertainment and shopping enjoyment for less than the price of a couple of hours at the movies.

Politics
Run-Offs
and
Weasels
The blessed respite offered up from the cacaphony of political ads has given way to an insane rush of political analysis by pundits claiming. 'I told you so', or simply covering their own backsides.
Just when we think it is again safe to return to our news sources, however, comes the news that the Georgia Senate race between incumbent Saxby Chambliss and Democrat challenger Jim Martin is too close to call and a recount is necessary.
Hellfire and tarnation. More &$*%#@$ politics just when we poor Georgians were ready to come up for air and get down to the important business of deer hunting and gun shows. It's the autumn of the year, you see, and many of us have been to cussed busy to take to the woods in pursuit of venison and such game as we need to feed our families.
This b'log supports Chambliss. “Rino” that he is, he's preferable to a liberal Democrat of any stripe. Besides Saxby is a local boy, a friend of Robins Air Force Base, and an outdoor sportsman. We will need both him and Jim Marshall if the new regime in DC wants massive military cut backs. Selfish? You betcha!! But that's the reality of local economics.
I can't vote for Martin anyway. He looks like a weasel and I have a problem with weasels, especially when it comes to voting. Sorry. That mincing, pinched-face of his looks like it belongs in a Tom Sawyer movie playing the mincing, pinch-faced weasel of a schoolteacher who rules Hannibal's single school room ruthlessly with a ferrule of hickory.
Don't get me wrong. I don't hate weasels. That's probably not politically correct, anyway. Can't these days talk bad about any group except white males. They're still fair game throughout this Republic. Not to shoot at, of course, when out in the woods hunting Bambi and his friends. Never hunted weasels, by the way.
So vote for Chambliss. A good old boy is better than a weasel any day.

Dick Morris
on The
Post Election
on The
Post Election
”Power has been bad for the GOP, sapping the party's soul and eroding its purity. But opposition, especially when a socialist like Obama wrestles with the practical problems of capitalism, will be a heady experience for the Republicans. The conservative movement can be reborn in opposition in a way they never could have been as the governing party.”
In the aftermath of the Democrats' authoritative victory, Dick Morris offers some predictions and a little practical advice for the GOP. The Grand Olds have been corrupted largely by finding themselves in the DC catbird seat, morphing thus into critters much like the brassy opposition. Historically Republicans have done their best when they are on the outside looking in, participating on the fringe, watching socialism, Marxism in the current instance, implode.
Here is a direct link to a most insightful article so you can check it out for yourself: Obama: Conservator-In-Chief

THE MORNING AFTER
Senator Obama is now our president.
Yours and mine. Ours.
I spent most of the evening on the phone and only received one 'the nigger in the White House will never be my president' call. The rest were thoughtful, constructive, and sincere.
On the email side it was very much the same. This old man is fortunate to have many wonderful folks in his life who think before they shoot their mouths off. It will take a couple or three days to answer these letters giving them the same level of insight they brought to my inbox.
To that end I intend to lessen this b'log's online presence. Said b'log needs a little break and so do I. Maybe a brief post here and there. Nothing earth shaking.
It is not a huge secret that the Bush presidency was pretty much a failure. I see him as an honorable man but a weak leader who allowed himself to be dominated early on by that cabal of hawks collectively known as 'neocons', or 'new conservatives'. They are neither 'new' nor 'conservative'. No real conservatives would have allowed a Republican administration to spend so freely, expand government so dramatically, or trample so obviously upon the individual freedoms of a people. They are not 'new' because their ilk has been around since the time of the Aegytpian Pharos These fellows destroyed a president and morally bankrupted a major political party. Well done, jerks.
The GOP deserved the trouncing it got yesterday....and probably more. Obama ran a brilliant campaign, one that will be studied for many years.
There needs to be a shake-up from the Republican top or the emergence of an entirely new political force which can break the bonds of our two-party straight jacket.

Mike Adams v Bill Ayres
"I shoulda Said"
"I shoulda Said"
Mike Adams’ latest column is entitled A Downright Mean Country: A Brief Exchange With Bill Ayers but it is no such thing, needless to say.
I cannot imagine any real dialogue ever taking place between Professor Adams and the bomb happy terrorist and long time friend of Barack Obama.
This fictional piece will have to do for now. It is Adams at his wonderfully ironic best.

Don:
There are three things I want to bring to your attention before we head to the polls tomorrow.
1. The "Honest and Open Election Hotline " has been launched by the McCain campaign to help voters find their polling place and report fraud, and intimidation. The phone hotline can be reached at 866-976-VOTE.
2. Throughout the day tomorrow, RedState will be covering election day with reports from across the country about turn out, voting issues, and problems at the polls. Please check out the site throughout the day. Likewise, if you experience any problems voting, you can email us at contact@redstate.com and also votefraud@gmail.com, which is the address for Election Journal, a website monitoring election irregularities.
3. An important story that is just now breaking relates to our national infrastructure. Senator Barack Obama told a newspaper that he plans to bankrupt the coal industry in the United States. This is important information for voters in states like Ohio and Pennsylvania. We have the details here. Please get this information to your friends in those states.
Now, remember to go vote tomorrow. As Winston Churchill said, "You cannot tell from appearances how things will go."
All the best,

YES I DID!!!
Of course I voted.
Our local polling place is less than two miles from here at a large high school.
A friend called just before 9:00 AM and told me he had a two hour wait. My friends and I arrived twenty minutes later and the wait was halved. Shortly after noon, there was no wait whatsoever. Things will pick up, of course, as folks head home from work and stop by to cast a ballot.
Pretty good for a precinct where I was the only soul voting mid-morning in a recent run-off contest.
Two things impressed me. First was the demeanor of the crowd of voters. We were young and old, black and white, but all intent to vote our choices. Good people, these, solid Americans, no acrimony whatsoever; the second was the wonderful professionalism and composure of the ladies who run the polling place. These are older women, mostly, who take their jobs seriously, are thoroughly gracious, and convinced of the importance of their work. Thank you, ladies.
I voted. Did you?

It's Election Day
And I...
And I...
.....don't plan to enter the punditry lists this late in what has become a four year election cycle. Potential candidates for 1012 will begin jockeying for position no later than tomorrow.
Attended a police precinct yesterday evening. It was informative, as always We have excellent officers in this part of town....hard working, dedicated, honest, good men and women who take 'protect and serve' seriously.
I did ask the precinct captain if he could divulge whether the Macon PD has any special plans for election night. There is the prospect of riots, if Obama loses, or celebratory rowdyness should he wins. He declined to answer, changing the subject tactfully, which leads me to conclude that there are plans afoot. Locally, I don't think this will be a good night to venture far from home. Macon has the same potential for violence that most modern American cities have. Our crime statistics may be lower than some, but there is always the possibility of trouble and the police cannot be everywhere at once.
Which is why many of us prefer to be our own first line of defense and carry a firearm legally.
I will put up a couple of recent posts....Erick Erickson, Mike Adams in a short while. Then it's off to vote a split ticket hopefully picking a time when the line won't be too long.
Please vote if you are registered. Use your head...not your emotions. That's probably impossible in a society infused with the likes of Oprah and Dr. Phil. But vote anyway.

BUBBA....Si
Bubber......No
Bubber......No
Has anybody been watching the ads for and agin’ ‘Bubber’ Epps?
This clown is running against Allen Freeman in the State Rep. contest in the 140th. District.
Mr. Freeman has run some pretty effective attack ads claiming that ‘Bubber’ had the county citizens vote themselves new taxes, then turned $300,000.00 of that money over to his family business, a road paving firm.
Over the weekend I saw pro ‘Bubber’ family ads in which first a son, then a daughter told viewers what a great guy daddy is.
I couldn’t help but imagine one of those thought bubbles hanging over the kiddo’s head proclaiming, “Thanks, Pops, we sure needed that 300K Bermuda was great.”.
‘Bubber’s’ stand on gun control is enough to sink his campaign from my end.
There is something wrong with a grown-up who goes by the nickname ‘Bubber’. Now, ‘Bubba’ is ok. I know several ‘Bubbas’ and named my late Labrador Retriever ‘Bubba’. That Bubba was my friend. With maybe two or three exceptions, he was the best friend I ever had.
But ‘Bubber’. Sounds like ‘Blubber’ and lets face it, Epps is on the portly side. ‘Blubber’ Epps, eh? This is a dude to be trusted as far as you can throw him.
Please vote for Freeman. He’s the real deal.

Downtown Macon GOP Rally
A Great Success
A Great Success
Chris Krok wasn't there, but Herman Cain made it.
And a rousing success it was, the Republican rally this afternoon at the Third Street Park.
Herman Cain, the man who ought to be running against Obama right now gave what may be the best, most rousing speech this old city has heard since the Civil War. Other splendid addresses by Maurice Atkinson, John Oxendine, Cecil Staton, Charles Bishop, Scotty Shepherd and others whipped the crowd of about two hundred of the GOP faithful into as much of a genuine frenzy as can be expected from conservative Middle Georgia Republicans from all walks of life.
It was a lot of fun. It was also great to reconnect with Mr. Cain. He's been a hero of mine since the time four years ago when he almost upset Johnny Isaacson, now a United States Senator. If only.........
A call from Maurice Atkinson shortly before the grand affair told me that Chris Krok was sick and couldn't make the festivities. I had sincerely hoped to meet him.
That's sad....
Too bad...
Poor lad......

Fairfax Virginia
The Final Word
The Final Word
We have looked at Erick Erickson's take on the Fairfax (VA) voting fiasco, and Rokey Sulleman's reply. Here is a final chapter from Erick and Red State Dot Com. It arrived as an email just this morning:
Don:
I have heard from thousands of people across the country who called Rokey Suleman, the Fairfax County, VA Registrar, to ask him to count military absentee ballots.
Unfortunately, Mr. Suleman emailed back many of you and said he was just doing his job. He said he was just following the law.
Rokey must know something we don't know. And something that the State Board of Elections doesn't know, because they have told him the votes should be counted. Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell said the votes should be counted. And even Barack Obama's campaign thinks the votes should be counted.
Only Rokey Suleman thinks that he is following the law. And in his moment of bravery, he has been throwing our soldiers under the bus.
I'm pleased to report to you that the Fairfax County Board of Elections has now decided that Mr. Suleman must comply with the law and the votes of our soldiers and sailors will be counted.
Thank you so much for calling, writing, and insisting that our soldiers and sailors' votes be counted.
Sincerely yours,
Erick Erickson

Obama's Politics Of
Gun Control
Gun Control
"Are you ready for some truth? You are? Are you sure? Okay then . . . sit down, let your head clear from that last hit of Obama propaganda ganja you just inhaled, turn off MSNBC, log off the DailyKos, put down the Audacity of Hope and give me, my young gun owning/hunting friend just two minutes of your attention and check out this list from gunbanobama.com . . "
We have quoted Doug Giles previously in this b'log. While I disagree with many of the man's opinions (on religion, especially), he's spot on with today's TOWN HALL column.
Please take a close look at: Young Undecideds Who Love Guns Vote Your Glock
The piece lists Obama's gun voting record since his early days as a state legislator. Giless states the candidate's position and gives a source for each. We have seen this notion in mailings from the NRA, but it is somehow less stark and more effective in a setting like this.
Read....enjoy...and hope you wake up having set your time pieces backhour.
