Dick Morris' Latest Column
10/31/2008

”By this point, the nature of the undecided vote has likely shifted from people who are torn between wanting change and worrying about Obama to people who have basically decided not to back Barack “

Dick Morris has been a busy pixie this week, hopping from talk show to talk show with all the frequency, say, of a George Stephanopolus, whose own left leaning band of punditry show that he has yet to escape from a bad case of Clintonian mind control.

His theme right now is the McCain ‘surge’, where in poll after poll the Senator from Arizona seems to be narrow a once formidable gap.

His reasoning is solid….we can all hope.

You can read this latest piece at: HOPE FOR MCCAIN: Polls Say He Is Closing The Gap

Will somebody please give me a McCain/Palin yard sign? Thanks!!

Chris Krok,
Joe Allen
and
Maurice Atkinson<
(say it ain't so, Joe)

Early morning phone call (everybody seems to know that the six cats are early risers, forcing me into the same mold even on a chilly morn).

“Don, Don,” came the disembowled voice, “Turn on Krok….he’s talking about Joe Allen.”

Well Krok often disses Commissioner Allen, what’s new? But dutifully I turned off Kenny and Charles and switched over to WMAC, which seems to be going through a major personnel change.

TO CITY HALL:
Let's Find Out Where The Hell Our 300 Thousand Bucks Went!!!

It’s been settled.

The City of Macon will pay back 315 thousand bucks to the federal government because we, the city, can’t find approximately that amount in any municipal disbursement records. This from a million dollar grant given the city back in 2002.

States THE MACON T’GRAPH, “Macon’s police department administered the grant, which distributed most of the money to faith-based organizations that ran after-school programs for at-risk youths. Federal officials alleged that both the city and the faith groups that ultimately spent the money were to blame. But Wednesday, the mayor said the city has no plans to seek repayment from any of the organizations that got Safe Schools money.”.

Something horribly wrong here.

Just One More Slant-Job From CBS News

I'm listening to CBS NEWS with Katie Couric, perky as ever, a kind of latter day Mary Tyler Moore, salivating over a NYTYMES-CBS poll.

Why? Because it gives Obama an eleven point lead. There is no mention numerous other polls which show the contest tightening.

The TIMES used to be this nation's 'news paper of record' My Dad (twenty years dead) referred to Kuric's network as 'The Communist Broadcasting System.' Both have fallen on hard times in the news department....Katies show ranks three out of three among network offerings. The times is seeing advertising revenues dryy up and has held several rounds of steep lay-offs of once loyal staff.

This is, of course, an example of the way the modern media manipulate events, sometimes more by what they are not saying, than by what they are.

EMAIL FRAUD
re: PAYPAL

An Email Update member received an email which claims to be from Pay Pal. The email claims that someone is using the recipient’s Pay Pal account to view pornography on the internet. This email is not from Pay Pal. This is a Phishing attempt. What the scammers are hoping is that the recipient will be mortified and respond by clicking on the Cancel this Payment link. The link would take the victim to a very authentic looking website where the victim is prompted to enter their email address and Pay Pal password. Once the victim has done so the real Pay Pal account fraud begins because now the suspect has obtained the victim’s password and can freely use their account.

Do not respond to these emails. A real giveaway is when you click on the fraudulent link you can look at the address bar at the top of the internet page and the address does not even mention Pay Pal. When you go to the real Pay Pal site you will see www.paypal.com

Music Along The Campaign Trail

Some weeks ago we put a link from this b’log to a McCain-Palin election cycle song in the country and western tradition. It can be found here: http://boortz.com/more/video/mccain_palin_tradition.html

Not to be outdone the Obamites have created several musical tributes of their own. Most of them are as bad or worse than ‘Tradition’, but tend to appeal to a younger, urban audience….make that Rap or Hip-Hop style which is not my personal cup of Chai. Here is one such, this one in reggae style, which might offend some belonging to conservative Christian persuasions. Here she be: http://boortz.com/more/video/obama_be_thy_name.html

To prove their highly intellectual composers can compete at the very bottom of musical barrel, here is another horror in support of the GOP ticket: http://boortz.com/more/video/rainin_mccain.html

It was a lot easier when the Ruskies and Chicoms were our only enemies and political songs ran something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nG4IX5jBc4Q

Sophistication hath its limits.

Some of these links were taken from Neal Boortz' latest BOORTZ BLAST

Enter "The Undecideds"
All Is Not Lost
According To Dick Morris

”But the basic point, one week before Election Day, is that even if Obama clings to a four- or five-point lead over McCain in the polling, the election is not over. The question is not so much how large his lead is over the Republican, but whether or not he is topping 50 percent. As long as the polling leaves him below that mark, he is vulnerable and could well lose.”

So writes Dick Morris in a provocative article Undecideds Should Break For McCain

Like all things Morris, it is well worth a look. There are signs, and this discusses just one of them, that all is not lost in the presidential race.

Ciao

What won’t the slime balls steal next? How about stripping wire from utility poles?

Impossible? Not according to this BOLO from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department.

Read on!!!!

Bibb Sheriff’s Patrol was dispatched at 7:55 this morning to the 4100 Block of Jeffersonville Road (Between Shady Rest Lane and Harold Road) in regards to a telephone pole in the roadway. It appears the poles were intentionally broken and about 600 feet of telephone wire were cut and stolen and 3 telephone poles were snatched down. A truck or car was used to break the pole. These poles only had telephone wires on them (no power lines). ACCORDING TO UTILITY WORKERS, THERE ARE SUSPECTS IN BIBB COUNTY STEALING CABLE FROM POLES LATE AT NIGHT AND DURING THE EARLY MORNING HOURS.

COMMON SENSE
Paul Jacob

Why the People

Some people wonder at my support for initiative and referendum. They don’t place much trust in their neighbors to run their lives. They fear what de Tocqueville called “the tyranny of the majority.”

And hey: I don’t trust fellow voters to run my life, either. But I trust voters to let me be free to run my own life more a lot more than I trust politicians.

Voters will choose less government more often than their representatives will.

And less government, in today’s context, means better government.

This was most notably demonstrated in late September. The U.S. House of Representatives voted on the Bush administration’s proposed bailout of the mortgage industry, the biggest takeover of private property in world history.

To politicians, it made a whole heckuva a lot of sense. To Americans who wrote and phoned Congress, the bailout appeared just as it was: a quickie, panic “fix” that merely lined the pockets of a sector of the investor population.

It was a subsidy, socializing risk while letting profit remain private.

Enough Americans notified enough of their reps to convince them to take a stand, defeating the bailout. The letters came in, ten to one against the bill.

Of course, the next week Congress voted in the bailout, adding injury, in the form of a bigger price tag, to the insult of ignoring constituents.

Once again, politicians ignored the people. That’s never good government.

Obama
and the
FLAG

The Houston County GOP is a far cry from its limp-wristed counterpart in Bibb.

These guys send out importamnt announcements several times a week, and keep us informed about candidates, meetings, trends, and activities.

Here is their latest missive, a reprint from the W. POST.

This man could be the next President of the Unite States. Aaron Talk about an EYE OPENER!!!

Oh Boy!!! People better wake up or everything we know is going to change with that man. O-BAMA.... BOOM!!!!
A must read From Sunday's Televised "Meet the Press" Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag. Obama Explains National Anthem Stance Sun, 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, General Bill Ginn' USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played. The General also stated to the Senator that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171...During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. At the very least, "Stand and Face It" Senator Obama Live on Sunday states, "As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides, Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I MIGHT salute it."We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons. Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago.

She has her views and I have mine".
WHAAAAAAAT??? !!!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you heard it right. This could possibly be our next President. I, for one, am speechless.

North Macon Under Age Drinking Party
follow up
now come the local comments

The local furor over North Macon parents charged with thirty-four counts of ‘contributing to the delinquency of a minor’ is something unprecedented in the short local media memory.

The articles are one thing, the dozens and dozens of ‘comments’ are quite another. Many of them are acrimonious, many of the ‘gotcha, you damn private school snobs', many are simply juvenile. One chap suggested that the kids at Stratford and its rival schools have too much free time and are sending in comments by the score.

Whatever the reasons, here are direct links to the two primary news articles. The comments sections follow immediately as one scrolls down. Very interesting, some of them, pure trash others.

Here they be:

The Truth Lies Some where In Between
Reply To Erick Erickson

Yesterday (Monday) I published in this b'log an urgent letter from Erick Erickson of Red State Dot Com concerning the apparent disenfranchisement of soldiers seriving overseas by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Erick identified a chap named Rokey Suleman as the culprit and asked his readers to contact the man. I did and received a reply a few moments ago which is reprinted in its entirety below.

Shows that there are two sides to any argument and that the truth always seems to lie somewhere in between.

Read On:

I am taking a moment to answer your e-mail out of the hundreds of e-mails that I have received.

I did not choose to do this. This was a decision made by the Virginia legislature, passed down by the State Board of Elections and when I asked my county board if we could ignore this requirement they voted 3-0 to uphold the law.

We have received over 75,000 absentee applications from military and civilians. This affected 63 ballots of those 75,000 and of those 63 only 6-7 were military. The rest were ordinary folks like you or me living overseas. I was not disenfranchising the military.

But, why let the truth get in the way of a good story. It is unfortunate that people are using good folks like yourself to hype an agenda with things that are so far from the truth. People decided they could use a very small issue for partisan political game and chose to demonize me instead of working with me. I pointed this issue out to military voting rights groups in September. I alerted them to the problem and said we needed to fix it.

I have received threats, my staff has been abused verbally and my friends across the nation have been contacted regarding this. All because the truth does not matter. Again, I was not disenfranchising the military. I understand how hard it is for the military to vote. The first ballot I ever cast was an absentee ballot in boot camp.

I hope that a small portion of the truth sets your mind at ease,

Best,

Rokey Suleman

An Analysis of
MEDIA BIAS
from the
INSIDE

This is the best article I have yet read about media bias

And it does not come from some sourpuss on the right wringing his hands over the very obvious fact that mainstream media strongly favors Obama over McCain.

The writer, Michael Malone, is a respected journalist who has only lately come to the conclusion that his fellows in The Fourth Estate are exhibiting a bias unprecedented in the history of modern journalism.

He even offers a plausible explanation for this trend, a trend that may well spell the end of real journalism in this country. I don’t want to give his conclusion away…it might surprise you.

Here is the link…found it first on DRUDGE. This is good read for both the liberals and conservatives among us for the conclusions point to what might be a dangerous trend: Media's Presidential Bias and Decline

Outrage of the Day
from
Erick Erickson

Here is an outrage that should cause your vitals to boil.

It arrived in the form of an email from Erick Erickson. Internet chatter has been all over this in the past twenty-four hours. I don't know about you, but I want to see this tape. I thought outfits like THE LOS ANGELES TIMES was a NEWSpaper.:

Don:

What if the Los Angeles Times had video of John McCain toasting a known Islamic terrorist? What would the reaction be if the Los Angeles Times told everyone it had the tape, but refused the release the tape? And what if credible people who had seen the tape reported that other terrorists were in the room?

This is not a hypothetical. This is actually happening. Only it involves Barack Obama. And the Los Angeles Times has admitted it has the tape.

In 2003, Barack Obama lavished praise on Rashid Khalidi, a mouthpiece for Yasser Arafat. In the room were Weather Underground members Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. It was all caught on video. The Los Angeles Times blandly mentioned the tape in passing a few months ago, but I'm told there is more to it than that — the tape shows enough sympathy from Barack Obama toward the causes of an Islamic radical that the American public has a right to see the tape.

But the Los Angeles Times will not release the tape. Peter Wallsten, a reporter for the Los Angeles Times has seen the tape. He wrote about the tape.

Email Peter Wallsten at peter.wallsten@latimes.com Tell him to release the tape.

Call the Los Angeles Times at (213) 237-5000. Tell the Times the American public has a right to see this for themselves.

Please forward this to your friends and encourage them to call too. Use the link below my signature to ensure they get the email in proper formatting.
Sincerely yours,

Erick Erickson

North Macon Teen Booze Party

More than three decades ago I got into one hell of a fight with a trustee of the private school that had hired me because he allowed a number of teen-age boys to have a keg party at his house. The boys showed up a little tipsy for class the nerxt morning. I hit the roof and was threatened for sticking my nose where it did not belong.

This weekend, according to TV station WMAZ and THE MACON T'GRAPH two Stratford Academy parents were arrested for holding all-night party for thirty four teens at which alcohol was served. The kids were celebrating their soccer team's state championship hard won this weekend.

This sort of thing used to be fairly common among the area's elite. It was hoped that incidents where booze is served to youngsters by 'responsible adults' was diminishing. Maybe not.

We have to question the parents who bought and served the alcohol and the parents who knowingly let their offspring attend such a party.

An example needs to be made of these morons who would corrupt not only their own, but other children as well.

Alcohol is a drug, albeit a legal drug under certain circumstances.

It sure as hell wasn't 'legal' when given to this bunch of teens.

This Just In From:
Erick Erickson

Here is an interesting email from Erick Erickson of RED STATE DOT COM. I have already sent a nasty email to Rokey....suggest you do the same.

Don:

You need to know about Fairfax County, Virginia Registrar Rokey Suleman. He has decided to reject absentee ballots from American soldiers stationed overseas. In fact, some of the ballots he's not counting are those from military personnel serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Mr. Suleman is using a technicality to throw out hundreds of our brave soldier’s votes. Except that Marc Ambinder reports that Rokey Suleman is getting the technicalities wrong. Mr. Suleman claims that our soldiers are "overseas citizens" and therefore have to comply with legal provisions applicable to American expatriots.

Voter disenfranchisement in any form is wrong, but the fact that some are actively seeking to take away the right to vote from the very people that are fighting to defend this fundamental American principal is deplorable.

Furthermore, Suleman is a partisan. He was the founder of the Trumbull, OH Young Democrats. Earlier this year, he ran, and lost, for the Ohio Democratic State Central Committee.

When questioned about denying our men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan their right to vote, he responded, “It stinks, but it's the law.” A more accurate response is- “It is voter disenfranchisement, and that stinks”

Tell Rokey Suleman to honor our American soldiers and count their votes.

Rokey Suleman
Fairfax County General Registrar
703-222-0776
Rokey.Suleman@fairfaxcounty.gov
And if you are so inclined, join this Facebook group to send him a message.
Sincerely yours,

The End Of The Republic?

For some time now I have debated in these pages whether the end of the United States will come from the left or from the right.

The appropriate answer is, of course, ‘both’. Both ends of the political spectrum and both major political parties acting in concert to deny us our freedoms, to deny us what we have worked for long and hard, to deny us protection under the United States Constitution, a document that is trampled upon day after day on all levels of government.

Perhaps the most important essay I have come across lately can be found over at Lew Rockwell Written by a chap we have cited here before named William Norman Griggs it can be accessed directly at: Fare Thee Well, and Get Ye Lost

It is a must read for anybody who doesn’t trust our elected officials, especially those in Washington. We are about to transition from an imperial presidency (Republican) to the reign time of the ‘Anointed One’ endowed by the creator with Teflon armor and the ability to be all things to most people.

What will be the end result of the perpetual warfare up in DC. It might just be the break-up of these United States into lesser geopolitical entities that more mirror the feeling and thinking of the residents thereof.

Great article….too complicated to comment on at length here. Remember the old Dixiecrats who said, “The South Shall Rise Again”. They might have been partly right.

Two phone calls this morning and a face-to-face with a close friend told me that Chris Krok was talking about me this morning on air.

Or maybe not. It is not clear whether he actually mentioned this b’log by name. He also indicated that he didn’t know the identity of the writer who frequently savages his juvenile, largely uninformed antics. And he thinks I write letters to the editor of the T’GRAPH, which I don’t.

Since yours truly gave up on Krokie weeks ago, I have to rely on information offered by other folks who share my extremely low opinion of the carpetbagger.

Pity The Poor Little MBA

The basic difference, as I see it, between the depression of 1929 and that of 2008 is construction. Modern building construction.

Back ‘in the day’ all any stockbroker faced with bankruptcy after a decade of greedy enrichment had to do was open a window and jump thirty stories to oblivion. Today’s broker finds that the windows on his hermetically sealed building no longer open. A few take their lives violently…a gun, perhaps, slashed wrists, a bed sheet noose, or walking in front of a speeding SUV. The majority, however, prefer a slower kind of suicide….some use prescription drugs, some illegal substances, most plain old fashioned booze.

Time To Get Serious About Macon’s Police Scandal

Friday last Erick Erickson appeared smack dab in the middle of the first hour of the Kenny B. and Charles R. radio show over at WPGA 100.7 FM.

This Just In
Will
AL SHARPTON
Look Into
The Macon Police Scandal?

It could happen and it could happen before the end of the week.

A call just now from Newton Collier informed us that Clarence Thomas, local guru and activist, called in to Al Sharpton while the latter was broadcasting over WIBB local radio and laid bare the Macon Police Scandal which first appeared on the pages of this b'log more than three weeks ago.

Apparently it was a no-holds-barred dialogue ending with a call to action and continued conversation off-air.

Will Mr. Sharpton come to Macon (again) to keep this issue stirred up? We know that the NAACP is looking into several of the allegations contained in the original letters of complaint.

Wait and see...don't think we will have long to find out.

A Brief Video Perspective On Who We Are

Riverside Red is a gem of a human being....solid. reliable, a man with genuine, universal values.

He sent the following link without comment. The brief video comes from a Catholic source but does not take sides or preach. All it does is to help us realize who we are both individually and as a people here on the cusp of a national election. This video is very, very powerful.

More Faux Diversity
at
UNC-Wilmington

”I once believed the diversity crowd when it claimed an interest in bringing blacks and whites together for more meaningful interaction. Now I see them as specious and downright deceptive. I almost detect a colored quality in their statements. “

So ends a brief column by Professor Mike Adams (UNC-Wilmington), unarguably our favorite conservative, no nonsense, gun-collecting, college professor.

It attacks the ‘reasoning’ behind a new course offering that is about to be introduced at his institution of more mediocre learning in which young Black males are encouraged to examine why young Black males do as they do and act as they act. Apparently Whitey will take it on the chin for any problems that Black kids may have. Nobody wants to be responsible for anything these days.

It’s one of Mike’s better efforts of late. I found it early this morning on the townhall newsletter you can read it directly at Effective Interactions With African American Males

As always in such matters academic, real diversity once against gets clobbered by the forces of administrative ignorance.

GUESS WHO’S COMING TO MACON???

This announcement just in from Maurice Atkinson, candidate for Bibb County Commission…and my personal choice in District Four…….
” Herman Cain will be hosting a GOTV rally on November 2nd at 3rd street park. This will be a huge event. There are several speakers in the line up.”

Yes, fiends. Herman Cain….THE Herman Cain….former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, The Republican who should now be representing us in the U.S. Senate instead of good old boy Johnny ‘Rino’ Isaacson, Herman Cain who holds down an evening talk show in Atlanta and is the only sub Neal Boortz will ever allow to fill in for him. Herman Cain who mesmerized the assembled faithful with a speech worthy of a United States President the day Maurice Atkinson threw his hat into the Bibb County Commission ring.

Yes, THAT Herman Cain, truly a great American treasure.

Also on the program will be General Rick Goddard running for U.S. Congress, John Oxendine Georgia Insurance Commissioner and several others whose names will be announced here just as soon as they are confirmed.

This rally will be the biggest event of its kind to hit the Mid State any time in this election cycle.

I plan to be there early….hope you will be as well.

Ciao!!!

The Media Take A Look AT
The Macon Police Scandal
(FINALLY)

Here is a little piece from a civic-minded Maconite who took the time to check out what the media was saying about the MPD scandal, which has now figured in news broadcasts…radio and TV.

They tell me that Chris Krok got into the subject this morning towards the end of his show. There is no evidence that he read either of the two letters of complaint sent in by Lieutenant Brazee.

We will have more to say very soon on the craven attitude apparently adopted by Macon’s elected officials who seem more willing to sweep the shameful and sordid affair under the nearest rug.

Read and enjoy….or at least read.. The media slant is quite telling.

Dick Morris Says
McCain Still Stands a Good Chance

”McCain has now established the tax issue in a way he has not been able to do so far in the contest. Now he can widen the gap between the campaigns on this key issue. If the Republicans concentrate their campaign on the key issue of taxes and abandon the other lines of attack, they can use the lines developed in this debate to do better and better as Election Day nears.”

Hope springs eternal in the pundit’s breast.

Especially if the pundit is Dick Morris whose predictions have been all over the place this presidential campaign, some good, some bad.

He thinks McCain stands a good chance to win….if he capitalizes on something he started during the third and final debate.

You can read his piece at: Mac’s Shot At A Late Game Win

Read. Enjoy. Learn. But don’t let the gloom and doom guys think the O-Man has this entirely in the bag.

I Was About To Vote Against Rino Chambliss But Then I Saw Jim Martin’s Ad

Which ad?

Why the one claiming that Saxby sponsored a twenty-three per cent national sales task.

Truth is, Chambliss was talking about something called THE FAIR TAX which will actually lower the amount of taxes we pay to the federal government.

Check it out for yourself.

If Mr. Martin ‘approves’ this ad, then he is as dishonest as any slimeball currently in Washington.

One Of The Dumbest Laws Of All Time

Here's a short piece by COMMON SENSE guy Paul Jacob. Seems like they just passed a new law in Shreveport, LA.

The Crime of Being Robbed

Here’s one way to reduce your crime statistics: jail victims who report crime.

That’s the latest method of crime-stopping in Shreveport, Louisiana. Starting October 15, gas station owners and even attendees will be culpable if a thief gases up and drives away without paying. Owners and employees will face fines and even jail time. The reasoning is that they are partly “responsible” for the crime by not requiring all customers to pre-pay.

I can’t say it’s the dumbest law out there because, well, there are so many dumb laws. It’s a very competitive field.

Councilman Monty Walford, who voted against the new ordinance, wonders whether the city will now require that grocery customers give a deposit before entering the store.

Police Chief Henry Whitehorn came up with the idea of penalizing Shreveport gas stations when drivers rob them. Whitehorn babbles that it’s a crime prevention measure. Station owners protest that it’s more customer-friendly to let customers pay after gassing up. In any case, how they conduct business is, obviously, their own business.

All kinds of mandatory restrictions on ways of doing business might “prevent crime.” How about forcing shop owners to force customers to crawl through a concrete maze before reaching the shelves . . . then submit to strip searches as they leave? Sure, such a law would be costly, but it would “prevent crime.”

Except for the crime of the law itself.

This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

Well Down That Yellow Brick Road
to
An American Police State

”The seamless integration of the military and law enforcement into a single "Internal Security Force" is the defining characteristic of a fully realized police state. Once this fusion is accomplished, the question becomes not "whether" a police state exists, but rather how acute its institutional violence against the subject population will become.

That condition now exists in the country that still calls itself – without any apparent irony – the United States of America.”

There has been a lot of news about problems within the local police department of late.
And maybe you read the article in the AJC detailing the 33% of recent Police Academy graduates who have already been convicted of serious crimes, with fully half of them admitting to smoking marijuana.: One in three recent Atlanta Police Academy graduates have criminal records

Now here is an article that should really and truly thrust the fear of our coming ‘police state’ deep into your psyche. Written by William Norman Grigg, it appeared a week or so ago on Lew Rockwell’s newsletter. You may access it directly at: Rubicon in the Rear-View, Part I: Militarizing the Police

With little fanfare, and under the blanket of ‘National Security’, America’s civilian police departments are being turned into well-armed adjuncts of the all-powerful and centralized military establishment.

Dwight Eisenhower who warned us against what he called the ‘Military Industrial Complex’ is spinning rapidly in his grave.

Please read it…then shudder a little, then get angry. And it’s only Part One of a larger piece.

Dick Morris:
ACORN Might Sink Obama's Ship

”What makes ACORN particularly embarrassing for Obama is that he used to be one of them. He served as general counsel for ACORN in Illinois, channeled millions to the organization from the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (whose funds he distributed) and has lately spent $800,000 of his campaign money to subsidize the group's activities. For this emolument, ACORN has registered voters 15 times over, canvassed the graveyards for votes and prepared to commit electoral fraud on a massive scale.”

ACORN, suggests Dick Morris, is the immoral equivalent of GREENPEACE at its most destructive.

Obama’s long associations with ACORN are not simply an embarrassment to his campaign, they hold the potential seeds of its destruction.

Great little column by Mr. Morris. You can read it for yourself at The Nuts at ACORN Could Cause Obama’s Fall

Email
from
Erick Erickson
of
Red State Dot Com

Here is a timely notice from Red State's editor in chief, Erick Erickson...

Don:

I've heard from many of you who share our concerns that November 4, 2008 has the potential to not be a very good night for Republicans.

The race at the head of the ticket is anyone's call at this point, but there are a number of House and Senate races out there in which we are quite likely to succeed.

These are races in which contributions from real people--not lobbyists or professional "bundlers"--can make a real difference.

In the Senate, four incumbant Republicans are fighting close re-election fights. I don't have to tell you that if the Democrats get to sixty seats, we will have a hard time stopping their left-wing agenda.

In the House, there are six Republicans who each have a very good chance of beating a Democrat incumbent or holding an open seat that an incumbent Republican is leaving.

You can see a full list of races to consider here. Your help can make a real difference. Together we can mitigate the damage.

Sincerely yours,

Erick Erickson

A Second Letter of Complaint
about the
Macon Police Department

Here is a second letter of complaint from police Lieuitenant Tracey Brazee, the highly decorated police woman who shocked the community more than two weeks ago with a six page epistle that detailed problems deep inside the Macon Police Department.

The issue has become something of a cause celebre, with many politicians and newspersons demanding an investigation by an outside source such as the GBI.

You can find the original letter simply by doing a search on this site using the word scandal.

The lieutenant's second letter is just as long and just as damning. She knows how to dot her 'I's' and cross her 'T's'.

Macon Police Scandal

Kenny and Charles did one heck of a good job this morning during their three hours on-air over at local WPGA FM.

The threat of scandal and malfeasance now threatening the city'd police department was discussed in depth. Discussed, but not flogged to death as it surely would have been by Chris Krok, the loud-mouthed Solo Man of WMAC.

These guys have real class as well as a genuine, long standing appreciation for and love of our community.

They called for a GBI investigation of the charges as do we.

Scandal In The Macon PD
Re—Re-Visited

Near the end of this morning's broadcast, Kenny Bergamy indicated that the big topic for tomorrow (Tuesday) would be the letter from the police Lieutenant pointing to corruption and lack of leadership inside the Macon PD.

This b'log has been following the story for more than two weeks now.

I called Charles Richardson at the T'GRAPH this afternoon telling him I had received another lengthy letter from the Lieutenant. He asked for a copy. A subsequent conversation with a member of the City Council indicated that at least some of them had copies.

So tomorrow on WPGA FM (100.9 on your radio dial) will most likely be the scene of a donnybrook about the allegations of corruption within our Police Force.

Now it is high time for the Mayor, the City Attorney, The DA's office, and the GBI to get involved. Don't let bureaucratic sloth slow this investigation down.

Mike Adams On
ANGRY ATHEISTS

As an atheist surrounded by conservative Baptists I endure more than my share of clumsy attempts to convert me to their narrow pathway of faith.

Doesn’t work. Probably never will….but if it does, it will be detailed right here, you betcha.

One article of belief these good folk possess is that the atheist must, somehow, for some reason, hate god. One of the most common questions asked of me is, “why do you hate god so much?”

2008 Greek Festival

I had the pleasure of spending much of the afternoon attending the 2008 Greek Festival held on the grounds of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church located on First Street in downtown Macon.

It was a splendid affair complete with authentic entertainment, food, drink (including resinated* wine by the glass), gifts, and beautiful, artistic religious objects.

This was the first such festival put on by the congregation of Holy Cross and it is hoped that the event will become a yearly event.

The folks in the congregation were helpful, friendly, patient with visitors who did not understand the exotic flavors they were sampling, and enthusiastic about their church, its past and its future.

Our hats are off to these good folk. We look forward to the 2009 edition of Middle Georgia’s very own Hellenic celebration.

*Many Greek wines are flavored with resin, pitch from certain conifer trees, which give the liquid a mellow flavor and aids in the digestion of food. I remember many long evenings along the Greek coast where much local vintage was consumed carafe after carafe…..always with local foods enjoyed slowly….and never the hint of a hangover the next morning.

Seems Like Old Times

In the 14th century, the Black Death hit Italian shores and quickly spread. People panicked, sought causes, tried to find someone to blame.

Today, American finance goes into crisis, and the crisis quickly spreads. People (particularly politicians) panic, seek causes, someone to blame.

In medieval Europe, they rounded up the usual suspects: First the Jews, then the heretics, then witches. Not even cats were safe (according to some accounts) since, as “everyone knew,” cats were witches’ “familiars.” Members of these groups were killed in great numbers, burned at the stake, hung, thrown into bogs. It was not pleasant.

The “usual suspects” got attention in our current crisis, too. Who’s to blame? “Wall Street greed” and “unregulated markets” and the like. Hordes of Democrats said the fault lied with Republicans. I have heard no small number of Republicans return the favor.

Then, just to show how modern we all are, there were no killings. Instead, the two parties got together and threw money at the offenders.

We’ve come a long way, baby...

Election 2008
Getting It Right

Finally got presidential election 2008 figured out.

Took some real mental gymnastics.

It is a fact that if you are Black, it's OK to vote for Obama simply because he is also Black. But if you are White and vote for John McCain, you're a racist.

Easy, isn't it????

Your
Freudian Slip
is showing

An Article carried by a newspaper called THE TIMES UNION and found today on DRUDGE carried a little known example of what might be the ultimate in unintended political Freudian slip-ups.

It would seem that absentee ballots of Rensselaer County (New York) were sent out last week listing the name of the Democratic Candidate for the office of President of the United States as:

Barack Osama

Nobody is being blamed for the error, but nobody seems to be taking credit for it either.

a new slant on
VOTING EARLY
and
VOTING OFTEN

Voter fraud appears to be a major problem across the nation.

Like the poor, it has always been with us, but more and more it seems as if the tried and true 'Chicago Way' has been exported by Obama zealots to the rest of the nation in a major assault on the integrity of the stsyem.

Found this transcript on DRUDGE this very morning. It is taken from a local TV station in Texas which did an in-depth report on fraud in that state.

Don't think it's only Democrats, boys and girls. Dirty politics is not limited to the slimeballs in either major party.

Email From ACT
Arabic Language Flash Cards

Flash Cards Designed to Teach English Translations
of Arabic Have a Curious Way of Doing It

Dear Don,

We’ve all seen flash cards used to teach math functions and simple words. But we’re sure you haven’t seen flash cards like these!

One of our chapter leaders happened to be in a Barnes & Noble bookstore in Minnesota, and saw a package of flash cards apparently intended to help someone translate Arabic words and phrases into English.

What he saw when he bought the cards was, to say the least, far different than what he expected.

Here is a sample of some of the English words and phrases translated from the Arabic in this flash card set.

“assassination attempt”
“counter strike”
“attack”
“air strike”
“enemy”
“The army seized power”
“We buried the dead man yesterday”
“to seize power”
“martyr”
“to die in a battle”

To see a PDF image of the actual flashcards, designed by Fethi Mansouri, please click here. You will need Adobe Reader or similar software to view the image.

I guess we’re pretty straight-laced here in America. Our flashcards designed to teach English have such controversial words and phrases such as “thank you,” “could you please help me?”, and “what time is it?” I don’t think you’ll find an English translation flashcard set with words like “assassination attempt.”

One has to wonder who would need an Arabic flash card set that translates “assassination attempt” into English. Then again, maybe we shouldn’t have to wonder at all.

In Barack's Own Words
Gun Control

Thus Spoke Barack Obama::

"He had a semiautomatic weapon with a clip that allowed him to take 19 shots in a row," Barack Obama told a crowd in Nashua, N.H., after the shooting. "I don't know any self-respecting hunter that needs 19 rounds of anything. The only reason you have 19 rounds is potentially to do physical harm to people. You don't shoot 19 rounds at a deer. And if you do, you shouldn't be hunting."

While running for Senate in 2004, Obama called for "national legislation" to prohibit citizens from carrying concealed weapons at all. In 2008, he affirmed that concealed carrying "creates a potential atmosphere where more innocent people could [get shot during] altercations."

Lower Boulevard
Neighborhood Watch
BOLO

One of our homes suffered two attempted break-ins, once yesterday sometime before three PM and again during the night.

The perps never made entry. Neighborhs on all sides have been alerted and the homeowner is taking some extraordinary steps to protect his life and property.

We have no specific persons of interest at this time, but the kids have been released from school this week (the why of this escapes me, frankly) so more youngsters than usual have been seen in the neighborhood.

Keep a close watch out not only for your own property, but for your neighbors' as well. We are all in this together.

If you see anything suspicions, call the police forst and me second, no matter what hour of the day or night.

Be safe.

Ciao

The BOLO below comes from an Email Update Member in Lizella. This occurred in the 8000 block of Eisenhower Parkway. The tag may not be completely accurate but is most likely off only 1 or 2 digits. It is also possible that this tag is on the wrong vehicle. If you see a similar vehicle and tag involved in suspicious activity in your area, contact law enforcement to report suspicious activity.

BOLO

On Monday I had pulled out of my carport and let the door down. I observed a White Mazda Pick-up way down my driveway almost to the house. When he saw me, he backed out all the way into Eisenhower and headed toward Macon. I followed him to a gas station on Bethel Church and Fulton Mill Rd., When he got out of the truck I asked him what he was doing down my driveway, he said he was turning around. He was at the turn around pad when I saw him but instead or turning around, he backed all the way out to the road. He had an Educator Tag ED768R. He did not look like an Educator. He was a white male approximately 6.1 or 6.2 about 200 lbs.

Justice Scalia
on the
Right To Bear Arms

The3 following quotation was found earlier this morning in the newsletter-update from GEORGIA CARRY DOT ORG. The writer is Antonin Scalia, Supreme Court Justice. Mr. Scalia gives his take on the recent decision by the Court that the United States Constitution guarantees the right of individual to own firearms.

"We are aware of the problem of handgun violence in this country, and we take seriously the concerns raised by the many amici who believe that prohibition of handgun ownership is a solution. The Constitution leaves the District of Columbia a variety of tools for combating that problem, including some measures regulating handguns. But the enshrinement of constitutional rights necessarily takes certain policy choices off the table. These include the absolute prohibition of handguns held and used for self-defense in the home. Undoubtedly some think that the Second Amendment is outmoded in a society where our standing army is the pride of our Nation, where well-trained police forces provide personal security, and where gun violence is a serious problem. That is perhaps debatable, but what is not debatable is that it is not the role of this Court to pronounce the Second Amendment extinct."

Chris,

Don't have a clue about what you are discussing this morning, but Elaine Lucas just spent ten minutes discussing the Museum of Arts and Sciences with Kenny and Charles on a competing radio station.

The conversation was pleasant, civilized, and, above all, informative.

Can't imagine why the good lady doesn't call you any more.

I won't comment on this link from Drudge this morning: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article1782932.ece

As a fellow who shares his domicile with six furry friends and does everything he can think of to keep them from harm, a festival featuring feasting on felines is most disturbing, even if it takes place in far off Peru.

And no.....I did not check the link.

Absence Makes The Heart.....

Been away from the computer for a couple of days. Sometimes we have to take a break even from the woman we love.

The analogy of the significant female other and the desktop PC isn’t a bad one. If we males, and there yet remains ‘men’ in this age of the metrosexual piss-pot, let the computer or woman dominate us, our thinking and actions, we are in for a very bad time.

Every so often, therefore, at a time of mine own choosing, I say ‘screw thyself’ to my computer, my writing, and emails and do things other than sit at this desk typing away hours at a time.

Will come back when the spirits move me.

Of course I didn't watch the VEEP debate last week. Won't watch the next POTUS go-around either.

They are not debates. When these sessions are framed by debate rules, then I will watch. All of which means I will never watch a 'debate' because there will never be a 'debate'

Capice?

But here is a delightful video clip after the last session. It features Dck Morris and Alan Colmes in a knock-down free for all.

PRECINCT ASSOCIATION MEETINGS

Judy Gordon, our most excellent coordinator of all things Neighborhood Watch, has released the schedule of monthly Precinct meetings for October.

If you belong to a Neighborhood watch….or if you would like to start thinking about one in your area of Macon (and Bibb County), these meetings can be an invaluable resource to you. The free flow of ideas, shared problems ranging from speeders to armed juveniles, and direct access to the heads of the four precincts makes it a lot easier to be on the side of the good guys against the bad guys who would harm us.

Schedule is as follows:

1. PRECINCT ONE
Monday, October 6, 2008
6:30 P.M.
662 Shurling Drive
(Roses Shopping Center)
(That’s us over here in East Macon)

2. PRECINCT TWO:
Monday, October 13, 2008
6:30 P.M.
2654 Houston Avenue
(Old Goodwill Building)

3. PRECINCT THREE

600 Pio Nono Drive

4. PRECINCT FOUR
Monday, October 27, 2008

(4th. Precinct Office)

The Motto for the Neighborhood Watch program is: TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. We sure can, folks, we sure can.

These guys could be anywhere by now.....sounds like good neighborhood watching going on.

The Rosa Taylor area Neighborhood Watch group reports that 3 white males in a red 1997 Ford Mustang ( Wheeler County tag BCP 1767) pulled up to the carport of a home in the Crestline / Thornwood area at around 10:45 this morning. When approached by the Neighborhood Watch member, the driver stated he was looking for work cleaning gutters even though the 3 had no ladders or other equipment. The trio showed up minutes later at another nearby address and was approached by yet another NW member who had been called about them. The driver is a heavy set white male in his early 40’s.

If you spot this vehicle and occupants in your area, notify law enforcement immediately.

These two 'updates' from the Bibb County Sheriff's Department came in too late yesterday to post.

So here they are....good news for us, bad news for some bad guys.

(1) October 2, 2008

Marijuana Trafficking Bust

A joint operation conducted by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Vice Unit, The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and the Butts County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrests of 27 year old Tevis Kesean Poole and 34 year old Billy Meyaski Poole on Friday September 26th.

Information shared between the agencies led investigators to arrest Tevis and Billy Poole in the parking lot of Kroger on Zebulon Road. Investigators found over 80 pounds of marijuana in the suspects’ vehicle. The marijuana has a street value of over $200,000. Both suspects are being held in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex without bond pending a Superior Court hearing.

(2) October 2, 2008

Methamphetamine Distribution Arrests

On Wednesday October 1st, members of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Vice Unit arrested Daniel Clayton Hobbs age 37, Charles Robert Kirkland age 39 and Amanda Jean Wallace age 25 at 8082 Phelps Drive in West Bibb County for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute. The suspects were found in possession of approximately ¼ ounce of Methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $400.

In addition to distribution charges, Daniel Hobbs was charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine. The results of a related investigation indicate that Hobbs had been producing methamphetamine at a separate nearby location, 8088 Knoxville Road. A small amount of finished product was found in the trailer Hobbs was living in at that address.
The attached photos show the makings of a meth lab and finished product discovered during the investigation.

From The Latest Boortz Blast
"Little Johnny"

A teacher in Elmira , New York asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans. Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, All the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different again. Little Johnny said, 'Because I'm not an Obama fan.' The teacher asked, 'Why aren't you an Obama fan?'

Johnny said, 'Because I'm a Republican.' The teacher asked him why he's a Republican. Little Johnny answered, 'Well, my Mom's a Republican and my Dad's a Republican, so I'm a Republican.'

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, 'If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, What would that make you?' With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, 'That would make me an Obama fan.'

PS: I grew up very near Elmira, New York, It was rock-ribbed Republican until Hillary Clinton came along and promised welfare for the dairy herds.

Quote Of The Day
10/02/2008

"When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'" (Joe Biden)

Somebody needs to tell the historically challenged Senator that Herbert Hoover was president in 1929 when the market crashed and that TV wasn’t in households until the late 1940’s, after the War. Can you imagine what a field day the press would have had if, say, Governor Palin had made such a careless statement?

Let’s Be Kind To Chris Krok

It is in a spirit of pure compassion that this brief column is written.

I ask Chris Krok’s enemies, and you are legion, my friends, to lay aside all animosity, forget the laxative-like affect of his daily, juvenile hysteria, ignore his half truths and ill-founded bias, disregard his simplistic, child-like view of politics, religion, and humanity, and embrace fully his presence in our community much as you might a political refugee from Sri Lanka, Iran, or Communist China.

Chris Krok deserves both our sympathies and that special kind of warmth Middle Georgians have shown in abundance toward the underprivileged, the intellectually challenged, the downtrodden, and the societal dregs so despised in other areas of this great Republic.

In a word, Chris desperately needs this job. He was unemployed for eight months before field testing for his current position on WMAC 940 AM. Prior to that he held down various radio jobs at Jefferson City, MO at KLIK, WTDY in Madison, WI, KST in Minneapolis, MN, and most recently WSB Atlanta where he hosted a late night talk show which evaporated when Herman Cain became the night time voice of reason and serenity. Some in Atlanta thought Mr. Krok was being groomed to take over the Neal Boortz slot should that conscience of Deep Dixie decide to hang up his microphone, but nobody at WSB seems to remember if that were true. Perhaps the most significant thing happening to him during two years in The Big A was that penny-pinching Clark Howard once gave him a carton of cigarettes (generic, of course) to celebrate his first year at the station. Some believe that Mr. Howard was simply trying to induce lung cancer into the Krok biosystem. Again, there is deep silence among employees of that station.

Now Chris Krok has been called a ‘carpetbagger’, one of those insufferable Yankees who come this way and try to change everything when we native sons of the South know full well we like things just as they are. That would seem to be the case since he worked for three separate radio stations way up in Yankeeland before coming to Atlanta.

Hmmmm. Wonder. He bills himself as a Southern Baptist around here, what kind of church affiliation did he wear on his sleeve during his years in Wisconsin, Missouri, and Minnesota? It’s not exactly safe to call yourself a ‘Southern Baptist’ in the frozen wastes of Lutheran dominated Minnesota. Those folks take their religion and their tuna casseroles seriously.

No matter. The subject here is helping Krok keep his job, no matter how bad he may be. He has a wife and two children to feed, after all, kids do cost money., wives even more.

Besides, if Chris Krok gets terminated, it will raise the unemployment statistics in Bibb County and we don’t want that, do we?

Things are bad enough.

Anybody For A 'Safe' Investment???

Got an interesting email yesterday.

It read, in part, “Don, can you suggest any safe investments for my spare cash in these times of stock market jitters?”

Believe me, I'm not the person to ask about safe investments or any other kind. I wrote back, “Sure, buy AMMUNITION!!!!!”

A few hours later came a hesitant reply, “Ammunition? Do you mean like chemical companies that make explosives or arms companies like Colt that make guns.”

“Nope. I mean AMMUNITION. Bullets. Buy at least ten thousand rounds of your favorite caliber, keep a thousand in the closet and bury the rest in the back yard. You may need it some day soon.”

That’s just my opinion!!!
