AN EYEWITNESS REPORT
from
TONIGHT'S CRIME FORUM
from
TONIGHT'S CRIME FORUM
It wasn’t a complete waste of two hours, but close: definitely not the most informative evening in recent memory.
Friends and I attended the “Crime Forum” hosted this evening by Charles Richardson, T’GRAPH Editor and sometime radio commentator.
There were exactly eighty people inside the Douglass when the program opened, including media types scattered about its dark perimeter, only a few more two hours later. A short film consisting of a quotes by persons prominent in the development of the downtown informed us that we have crime in Macon, but all is not lost.
Enter the main players. Stage right sat a panel of important people, carefully balanced along ethnic and gender lines, the men and women who would pose the questions. Stage left saw another panel, local and regional law enforcement personnel whose job it was to interpret and answer the questions.
For two hours we were mistreated to queries often of an overly general nature, a few so poorly framed as to be unintelligible. The Q & A was not all bad, of course, and the men on the law and order side (stage left, remember) did a solid job responding as best they could. A few questions were posed by members of the audience. Macon's Gad Fly, Vic Jones, even mailed in a question about the hiring of an indiovidual to co-oredinate our scattered Neighborhood Watches.
You will be able to see the whole thing repeated ad nauseam on Cox channel 15, anyway, and thus make up your own mind. So there is no sense exploiting individual questions and their responses. Let me close with a couple of observations.
First, the evening lacked punch. What could have been a down and dynamite, gut level discussion of crime in our region, of its root causes, and of its possible solutions did not take place. Instead we were subjected to banal generalities that will do nothing to get our citizens aroused sufficiently to take back their own streets.
Second, with so much concern about our young people, their gangs and criminal activity, their truancy, incidence of pregnancy, substance abuse, and failure to graduate, there was no representative from the ranks of the Bibb County Campus police force, whose officers are usually close to the kids, during the hours they are in school. And, sadly, not a member of the school board reared its head.
Something wrong here folks. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the media, if play it does.

R.K. Gun Show
MACON COLISEUM
THIS WEEKEND
MACON COLISEUM
THIS WEEKEND
We mentioned this new-to-Middle-Georgia, upcoming gun and knife show a few days ago. Time is getting close.
The R.K. Gun Show is one of the largest, and most recognized events of its kind in the South and Midwest. Although new to our immediate region, these folks are well known throughout Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Kansas. Advanced advertising indicates that as many as 400 tables laden with outdoor bounty will be awaiting us at the Coliseum just in time for Uncle Sam's 'rebate checks'.
Admission is eight dollars, kids under twelve $2.00. BUT..go to their website and print out a buck off coupon for yourself and each member of your family HERE The show runs Saturday from 9 to 5:00 and Sunday from 8 to 5:00.
Don’t forget to bring your ‘significant other’ (mostly used to call them ‘wives’ in the days before political correctness). Don’t forget the kids. Kids love gunshows. Am bringing some neighborhood rugrats myself. Just don’t let them run around away from your direct supervision. Nothing like a brat pack to spoil a good gun show. Would bring my own boys, but the youngest is thirty-eight and lives 500 miles to the north.
Just got off the phone with Larry Hetricet, owner of A-Z Guns on Vineville Ave. who indicated that R. K. was a solid outfit and that he would be on hand with his usual dazzling displays of firearms and anything you might want for sport shooting. His wife Peggy had what appears to be a mild heart attack last weekend and is mending fine though still in the Hospital in Savannah. Make sure you drop by and say hello to Larry. These are great people.
I plan to arrive early on Saturday Morning. Hope I can run into some of you there. Look for a bearded senior citizen in an NRA cap and cat fur shedding off his duds.
Ciao

Softball Championship Revisited
PRIDE
PRIDE
There have been lots of emails coming my way since Rob's (Rob Brunel, my Son) softball team won the State Junior College Championship last Sunday.
And I am very grateful....please don't think I am not.
But this Old Man had nothing to do with it. He surpassed me in the coaching wars long ago, even before he left college.
I do get a real kick out of the 'you must be proud of what your son did' kind of email.
Of course I am proud of what this man has accomplished. But to tell you the truth, I am far more proud of who and what he is. Rob is a person of great integrity, personal strength, and dedication to his family and his chosen profession. A guy couldn't ask for a better son, not in this world.
Thanks for asking.

DOOMED TO REPEAT...
Although Senator Obama has presented himself as the candidate of new things -- using the mantra of "change" endlessly -- the cold fact is that virtually everything has says about domestic policy is straight out of the 1960s and virtually everything he says about foreign policy is straight out of the 1930s.
This morning’s Town Hall newsletter is wall-to-wall Jeremiah Wright, not a little reminiscent of the 1990’s version of MSNBC which earned the snide comment, “All Monica, All The Time”, during the halcyon days of L’Affair Lewinsky.
Those good TH conservatives are sho-‘nuff fired up about the salty Reverend, whose recent statements actually come across as far less whacko than the constant bytes on Fox News and redundant Rushbo would have us believe.
So here is this morning’s refreshing piece by columnist Thomas Sowell, one of my favorites: An Old Newness”
In this brief analysis, Sowell takes a look at the societal innovations of the 1960’s and the international politics of the ‘30’s and shows how Obama’s ‘new’ ideas are but a simple rehashing of things already tried and failed. Note that last word, “FAILED”.
Well worth reading. Take a break from Jeremiah and Monica.
Ciao.

THE NRA
and
GEORGIA HB 89
and
GEORGIA HB 89
Here is an update from the NRA on the drawn-out process we are experiencing in getting the Governor to sign HB89.
I have written Mr. Perdue twice....once as an (ex) restaurant owner, the other as a friend and supporter of the Second Amendment.
Please take a moment, go to the link, and send him an email..
GEORGIA: Gun Ban Advocates Urge Governor to Veto Critical Self-Defense Bill! Earlier this month the Georgia legislature passed House Bill 89 and sent it to Governor Sonny Perdue (R) for his consideration. This NRA supported measure makes numerous improvements to Georgia's Right-to-Carry laws and represents the most comprehensive pro-gun reform measure to pass in nearly 20 years. Unfortunately, Governor Perdue has not yet signed HB 89 and gun ban advocates and their anti-gun allies in the business community are urging him to veto the bill. It is critical that the Governor hears from you and every other gun owner in Georgia. Let him know you're counting on him to sign HB 89 into law. Governor Perdue needs to hear from you. Let him know that HB 89 is exactly what law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen want in Georgia. Please call Governor Perdue TODAY and respectfully urge him to protect your right to self-defense by signing HB 89 into law. You can contact Governor Perdue at (404) 656-1776 or via email by clicking HERE .

HILLARY CLINTON
in
2012
?????
in
2012
?????
Every day that she stays in the race and punches Barack Obama, she must realize that she is decreasing his chances of getting elected in November. Each time that she waves the bloody shirt and says that only she is strong enough to fight the war on terror, she obviously raises doubts about Obama’s strength and leadership. Every time she criticizes him for not switching pastors or for saying downscale white voters are bitter, she raises issues that are very destructive to Obama should he win the nomination.
Wow…..Dick Morris reasons that Hillary Clinton is staying in the presidential rat race because she’s actually running for the tops spot in 2012.
After McCain beats Obama in November.
After McCain is simply too old for a second term or. More than likely, the U.S. will be in a worse spot then than it is now and he may be vulnerable.
She will be no spring chickie then, but at least she can offer us still more ways a Worldly Paradise through modern socialism.
Good column which first appeared in FOX NEWS and you can access it for yourself at Is Hillary Preparing To Run In 2012?
I give up, is she?

UNDERCOVER VIDEOS
BRITISH ISLAMIC AGENDA
BRITISH ISLAMIC AGENDA
Here is a clip from a newsletter which includes a link to some 'undercover' tapes recorded by a TV reporter in Britain which shows (or purports to show.....since I haven't yet had a chance to preview them all) what the Saudi-funded, Muslim agenda is all about in the British Isles. Read the script then click on the You Tube link...at this printing there ar already 77 related videos).
Undercover Reporter in United Kingdom
Films Islamofascism in Action !!
Dear Don,
Over a year ago, a United Kingdom television station dispatched a reporter to go undercover into mosques in the UK.
In a series of blockbuster video reports that have been posted on YouTube, viewers get to see for themselves what Brigitte Gabriel and others have been warning about for years.
In just the first installment, you will see imams proclaiming:
“Allah has created the woman deficient…If she doesn’t wear the hijab, we hit her.”
“You have to live like a state within a state until you take over.”
“The pinnacle, the crest, the summit of Islam, is jihad.”
In that same installment you will see how a large Muslim organization in the UK has a “special” chat room for communication not meant for non-Muslims to see.
You will see how imams despise non-believers and call for jihad against them.
But what is most relevant for us in America, is that the Saudi Arabian religious establishment that provides the materials and the teaching that is going on inside these British mosques also provides the materials and the teaching for many – if not most – mosques here in the United States.
So when you click on the link below to view these undercover videos, remind yourself that this is what is happening in mosques right here in America — perhaps in your community, and even right down the street from you!

Mike Adams:
CELEBRATING
EMPTY HOLSTER DAY
CELEBRATING
EMPTY HOLSTER DAY
This was reminiscent of the time two female students were murdered at UNCW – both by male students with prior criminal records. I argued for background checks to protect the students. The university (DePaolo) disagreed. ABC’s 20/20 invited both me and DePaolo to express our views on national television. I accepted. She declined. This was after DePaolo publicly expressed the need for open communication on the issue – thus revealing her lack of courage and integrity.
Mike Adams is at his sarcastic best in a Town Hall column entitled Time To Compromise On Gun Control
And don’t worry if you are a supporter of our right to keep and bear arms, Mike does nothing to undermine our position.
But undermine he does his boss Rosemary DePaolo, Chancellor of UNC-Wilmington, as well as an unnamed political science Professor who likes to bad-mouth Republican nineteen-year-olds who merely wish permission to carry hand guns to protect themselves from crime and criminals.
Small wonder Professor Mike has been denied promotion to full prof.
Of course he is a professor of Criminology. Who should know better?
Wonderful column. Click on the link and read it….and let us know what you think.

STATE JUNIOR COLLEGE SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
A telephone call just a few minutes ago from the locker room confirmed that the SOUTH GEORGIA COLLEGE SOFTBALL TEAM has just won the state junior college championship during this weekend’s playoffs in Dublin. The team will now play for the national title a few days from now in Florida.
Coached by Robert (Rob) E. Brunel, this young team has shown surprising strength and steady growth in region play as the long softball season went on.
In addition to mentoring the Softball team, Mr. Brunel also serves as the school’s Athletic Director, bringing his vast experience in both coaching and administration to a two-year college which is getting serious about developing an athletic program to keep pace with its academic concentrations.
From the whooping and hollering of the players in the background, to the emotionally charged voice of coach Brunel, the team’s excitement is unbounded.
As is the joy of the Coach’s father.

BURN BABY, BURN
Can Al Sharpton Shut Down The Big Apple?
Can Al Sharpton Shut Down The Big Apple?
"We strategically know how to stop the city so people stand still and realize that you do not have the right to shoot down unarmed, innocent civilians," Sharpton told an overflow crowd of several hundred people at his National Action Network office in the historically black Manhattan neighborhood. "This city is going to deal with the blood of Sean Bell."
The Drudge Report today carried an article by a certain Verena Dobnie in which The slightly reverend Al Sharpton vowed revenge against the City Of New York for the acquittal of three police officers who gunned down a young Black Man, twenty-three-year-old Sean Bell in a hail of bullets.
Does Sharpton still have the clout or has he played footsie with politicians for so long that his power to induce near riot and mass civil disobedience has evanesced as he gorged himself on fatted calf?
I don’t have an answer, but I will place a small bet that his threats are rather empty these days.
Read the brief article here: Sharpton vows to 'close this city' after officer acquittals and send along an email telling us what you think.

This Just In:
GENUINE INTEGRITY
HARRY TRUMAN STYLE
GENUINE INTEGRITY
HARRY TRUMAN STYLE
A reader, neighbor, and fellow firearms enthusiast sent this in. Harry Trumen was my favorite president of all time. Truly a great 'man of the people'. Where have they all gone?
It's so sad that we don't have people like him in our govt. today!!! He had the guts and integrity to do what was right!! Some of our candidates today couldn't lace his shoes!!!!
When President Truman retired from office in 1952, his income was substantially a U.S. Army pension reported to have been $13,507.72 a year. Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an "allowance" and, later, a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year.
When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating,
"You don't want me. You want the office of the president, and that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it's not for sale." Even later, on May 6, 1971, when Congress was preparing to award him the Medal of Honor on his 87th birthday, he refused to accept it, writing,
"I don't consider that I have done anything which should be the reason for any award, Congressional or otherwise."
We now see that the Clintons have found a new level of success in cashing in on the presidency, resulting in untold wealth. Today, many in Congress also have found a way to become quite wealthy while enjoying the fruits of their offices. Political offices are now for sale.
Was good old Harry Truman correct when he observed, "My choice early in life was either to be a piano player in a whorehouse or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference."

Vic Jones Rips The T'GRAPH and the MPD for Under-reporting Details of Criminal Activity
Below is a letter from Macon’s true Factotum, Vic Jones, who serves as the community’s semi-official gad fly to the Neighborhood Watch programs within the city. Vic is passionate about this program and has become an example for many of us on how to deal with vermin when they infest our neighborhood streets.
His letter is a plea to both the Macon PD and the M’TELEGRAPH to include more and better crime reporting. The citizen has a right to full and accurate descriptions of perpetrators involved in criminal activity, and not simply a whitewashed crime report lacking details about the lowlife. A recent example of this vanilla, stupidly generic approach to crime reporting is given on the backside of this post. Simply click MORE to find it.
We have previously cited the email program run by the Sheriff’s department in an earlier post. It is truly excellent.
Read on!!!
Subject: City of Macon Neighborhood Watch Program needs urgent attention 4/26/08
Copy: Mayor Reichert, City Council, MPD Adminstration, local press, Nwatch Leaders.
Saturday 4/26/08
Dear MPD, City Council & Telegraph,
i hate to say this but you guys need to get your acts together on crime reporting. This and a dozen or so armed and unarmed robberies, burglaries and bank robberies have occurred in this stretch of Riverside Dr over the last year.
This stretch of Riverside Dr is right between two of the largest and most active Neighborhood Watch Groups in Central Georgia and we have to find out about this, two days later, in the newspaper. Apparently, the Telegraph and/or MPD doesn't view preventive public safety important enough to give a timely description of the suspects.
Had this occurred in the County, The Sheriff's department would have alerted over a thousand eyes and ears to be on the lookout. Thankfully, we have never had to use firearms in our Neighborhood Watch. Cell phones and communication among active Nwatch Members have done a good job preventing crime in our area.
I'm not sure what the MPD's problem is with communicating with Neighborhood Watch Groups but it is a major and serious problem and i have repeatedly reported that fact over the last three years.
MPD, please hire someone that knows how to communicate with Nwatch Groups and use email. I'm sure the BSO would help train your email alert system operators.
And Telegraph, please start giving full descriptions of armed and unarmed suspects that are on our streets and in our Neighborhoods...

ANd while you're at it, take in the pottery exhibit in the 'round building' adjacent to the festival.

From The American Congress for Truth
"WAKE UP AMERICA
"WAKE UP AMERICA
Here is a bulletin from ACT (The American Congress for Truth), the group headed up by Brigitte Gabriel. It points to a ten-point plan, a simple, logical, common sense plan to combat terrorism.
Writes Miss Gabriel “U.S. Representative Sue Myrick, co-founder of the House anti-terrorism caucus, has done America a great service with her call for a 10 point plan to tackle the threat of Islamic terrorism here in America.
Her 10 point plan is listed in the article below. Her press release laying out her plan can be viewed by clicking http://www.house.gov/list/press/nc09_myrick/wakeupamerica41808.html.”
Congresswoman’s ten points are given below:
“Wake Up America” Agenda
1. Will call for a government investigation of all US military chaplains who were approved by Abdurahman Alamoudi.
2. Will call for a government investigation of all US prison chaplains who were approved by Abdurahman Alamoudi.
3. Will call for the Government Accounting Office (GAO) to investigate the selection process of Arabic translators in the FBI and DoD.
4. Will call for the Internal Revenue Service to investigate the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ (CAIR) 501(c)(3) non-profit status which restricts “lobbying on behalf of a foreign government”.
5. Introduce a bill to make the preaching, publication, or distribution of materials that call for the death of American citizens, attacks on the United States Government or Armed Forces, or the financing of the means and/or operations to accomplish these acts, acts of sedition and/or solicitation of treason.
6. Will call on the Government Accountability Office to conduct an audit to verify the total sovereign wealth fund investment in the United States.
7. Will attempt to cancel scholarship student visa program with Saudi Arabia until they reform their textbooks.
8. Will introduce a bill to restrict R-1/R-2 religious visas for imams who come from countries that do not allow reciprocal visits by non-Muslim clergy.
9. Will introduce a bill to cancel contracts to train Saudi police and other security forces in US Counterterrorism tactics until the Saudi’s certify the prosecution of Al Qaeda financiers, like Yasin al-Kadi, and the detention of repatriated Guantanamo terrorists that keep being released into the general population after being “rehabilitated”.
10. Will introduce or sponsor a bill to block the sale of sensitive military munitions, especially Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAMs), to Saudi Arabia.

CINDY SHEEHAN IS BACK
Cindy Sheehan, the sometimes befuddled, often whacko fifty-year-old ‘peace activist’ is gathering signatures for a run to snatch Nancy Pelosi’s House seat from that less-than-effective Big Mamma.
She doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell. Of course, but put yourself in the place of a democratic voter at primary time. What a choice these poor guys have. A worn out Italian Lady who probably needs to get her butt back in the kitchen pitted against a fast fading lunatic whose peace crusade has been nothing but failure generating publicity.

A Day Nothing Much Got Done
Didn't accomplish much today.
Not a damned thing, really, not a damned thing.
Oh I did a little tutoring, sure enough, and a little reading beyond mundane, everyday newspapers, b'logs, and newsletters.
Didn't do any writing, never even looked at my own b'log.
About the only thing I did along with my neighbors was to get rid of a drug dealer who has infested this neighborhood for a few weeks. Dealer and spawn. All gone.
Tell you about it sometime soon. Just not tonight.

R. K. Gun and Knife Show
Macon Coliseum
May 3-4
Macon Coliseum
May 3-4
There is a huge gun show coming to the Macon Coliseum during the weekend of May 3rd-4th.
The R.K. Gun shows are new to this area and they are promising a whopper of a gun and knife show boasting some 400 tables which would, if my memory serves me, make it just about the biggest show of its kind to grace our fair city in recent years.
Check out their website: http://www.rkshows.com/ and learn more about R.K. directly.
The show runs from 9:00 to 5:00 on Saturday, 10:00 to 5:00 Sunday. It costs eight bucks to get in; kids under twelve are a bargain at two dollars. You will find a one dollar off coupon for everybody on the web site. That’s one for you and one each for the rug rats. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than taking the family to a movie, and a heck of a lot more fun. Lasts longer, too.
And bring them, your ankle biters. If you have an interest in the outdoor, shooting, field, and hunting sports a family trek through a good, well organized gun and knife event is an experience your family will never forget. It’s never too early to begin training your kids in the ways of gun safety and proper handling of firearms.
See you there. I will probably hit both days. You don’t have to buy anything to have a great time….but hey, those promised checks from the IRS will be reaching us beginning in May, who knows that new deer rifle may be yours sooner than you think, courtesy of the IRS, the President, and Two houses of Congress.
Ciao.

This is a family affair, free, open to all, and by all means bring the kids. Afternoons of live music, dance, drum demonstrations, food, venders of all manner of goodies, and families, above all, families enjoying a day of relaxed activity and fun.
Please make this festival a big part of your weekend. I surely shall.

Dear Tide:
I am writing to say what an excellent product you have! I've used it all of my married life, as my Mom always told me it was the best. Now that I am in my fifties I find it even better! In fact, about a month ago, I spilled some red wine on my new white blouse. My inconsiderate and uncaring husband started to belittle me about how clumsy I was, and generally started becoming a pain in the neck.
One thing led to another and someh ow I ended up with his blood on my new white blouse! I grabbed my bottle of Tide with bleach alternative, and to my surprise and satisfaction, all of the stains came out!
In fact, the stains came out so well the detectives who came by yesterday told me that the DNA tests on my blouse were negative and then my attorney called and said that I was no longer considered a suspect in the disappearance of my husband.
What a relief! Going through menopause is bad enough without being a murder suspect! I thank you, once again, for having a great product.
Well, gotta go, have to write to the Hefty bag people.

BOMBS AWAY

BOMBS AWAY
with
'HILL A RAY'
Asked if "it should be US policy now to treat an Iranian attack on Israel as if it were an attack against the United States," Clinton astonishingly responded that she'd use American nukes not just to defend Israel, our traditional strategic ally, but also other neighboring states such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait from an Iranian nuclear attack.
Barack Obama's far more sensible answer was simply to commit to definitively and aggressively extend our deterrent protection to Israel - period.
Dick Morris goes after Ms. Clinton’s proposal for a comprehensive Middle East Policy which seems to translate into something akin to, “Nuke Iran if she bombs not only Israel but our Arab allies as well.” Shade of Curtis LeMay, methinks, who wanted to bomb North VietNam ‘back to the stone age’. LeMay was the WW2 commander who headed the Army Air Corps’ firebombing policies against Japan which were far more destructive than the A-Bombs dropped near the end of the war.
Clinon’s proposed policy is unprecedented in its scope. Says Morris, “ No American president has ever made so sweeping a commitment in the region - but Hillary appears eager to break new ground.”
Not sure that Morris has this quite right. Our long-standing support for Israel might be better served if we were a little more even handed.

George Will:
The Tragic Joke That Is Modern American Education
The Tragic Joke That Is Modern American Education
In 1976, for the first time in its 119-year history, the National Education Association, the teachers union, endorsed a presidential candidate, Jimmy Carter, who repaid it by creating the Education Department, a monument to the premise that money and government programs matter most. At the NEA's behest, the nation has expanded the number of teachers much faster than the number of students has grown. Hiring more, rather than more competent, teachers meant more dues-paying union members. For decades, schools have been treated as laboratories for various equity experiments. Fads incubated in education schools gave us "open" classrooms, teachers as "facilitators of learning" rather than transmitters of knowledge, abandonment of a literary canon in the name of "multiculturalism," and so on, producing a majority of high school juniors who could not locate the Civil War in the proper half-century.
Want to read more? Go to: A Nation Held Back By (A Lack Of) Education
George Will has an excellent take on the decline and ever continuing decline of American ‘public’ education. The culprits are not only the weak and enfeebled Jimmy Carter and the teachers’ unions.
My own take: American Public Schools suck. Sorry, but that’s the simple truth. I’ll let Mr. Will flesh out what ‘suck’ means in this context.
While we’re on the subject, Most Private (not all….but probably a majority) Schools suck almost as badly.
Truth is truth.

Dick Morris Still Thinks
Hillary Is Toast
Hillary Is Toast
The primaries coming up in the next two weeks - Indiana and North Carolina - are likely to give Obama back a goodly portion of those delegates. By the time all the primaries have been held, after June 3, there is no doubt that Obama will lead by more than 100 elected delegates, and likely 150. From there, it will be an easy route to the nomination.
Dick Morris still thinks Hillary and her presidential aspirations are toast. I disagree.
He set a speed record getting this particular piece published. It’s not bad, but my gut still tells me, as I have been saying since Super Tuesday and before, don’t count out the Clinton machine.
Read it at TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE: HILLARY'S PENNSYLVANIA WIN
It appeared in this morning’s NY POST and has spread through the ‘Net like wilding fire.

A Tender and Loving Moment Shared By Hillary and Chelsea Clinton
You will never accuse me of ‘Hillary Bashing’ after you have explored the tender family scene portrayed in this link. The unguarded moment between Ms Clinton and her daughter, Chelsea, was caught on tape during the early years Mr. Clinton’s administration. You will hear him referred to as Sarastro early on, which is a code name like POTUS or Elvis (i.e. ‘has left the building’) Please click on the first link below and see it for yourself. Notice the absence of a pants suit in the White House living quarters.

Mike Adams:
Celebrating With A Good Cigar
Celebrating With A Good Cigar
My suit against UNCW is going well. The university was fortunate enough to get a federal judge (to hear their motion to dismiss the case) with an astronomically high rate of dismissal. They were probably feeling pretty confident. But, unfortunately for them, confidence is sometimes misplaced. Despite the unfavorable circumstances, I won easily. The judge said that my case is “ripe for adjudication.” Previously, an angry feminist had logged on to my Amazon.com page and said my case had been dismissed. That was wishful thinking. Welcome to reality. And let the depositions begin.
Horror of horrors, Mike Adams smokes tobacco. Cigars. Very expensive cigars. Cigars your non-smoking correspondent has never heard of. Of course, in my flaming youth I used to enjoy a six-cent rum soaked crook while preparing for the kind of strenuous Examinations once part of the college and university scene. Those were the days.
Here Mike has given us a neat column in which he reviews fine cigars, the smoking of which are an excuse because something in his life, work, or world view has gone right.
It’s a light piece, not a work of fluff, but one to shake the earth. Read it at Five Good Cigars and Why I Smoke Them

Some Thopughts On
THE VIABILITY
of
DOWNTOWN MACON
THE VIABILITY
of
DOWNTOWN MACON
I’m not ‘from here’, as the locals say, and much of me is not ‘of here’. I have been fortunate to have lived in several parts of the country, traveled widely, and planted some wild onions along the way.
Settling in Macon thirty-two years ago. I have taught in her schools and owned a downtown business, experiencing first hand the fall and rise and fall again of her downtown. Two years ago I counted well over a hundred vacant, often derelict buildings along the by-ways of her epicenter. There are a few less these days, but the decaying legacy of exodus, white flight, crime, and the late Emmett Barnes still dominate Macon’s inner city.
Will she rise again, the downtown? Newtown Macon has just announced a 29 million dollar infusion of dough to renovate the Capricorn strip along MLK. That could help.
But the highly touted Museum district just down the street is hurting. State funding is slowly drying up, attendance* is down in both the Music and Sports Halls of Fame, according to the T’GRAPH. The ‘new’ Tubman may never raise the funds needed to open its doors, and the Children’s museum has experienced both money and management problems all within the past year.
Construction on the new Centreplex Hotel complex is yet to be started. I remember our city Mutha’s promising an erection in April. So much for the credibility of the Gang of Fifteen.
Retail business fled the core city more than three decades ago, moving first to the old Colonial Mall and more recently to the new and dynamic retail centers along I-75, well beyond the city limits, beyond any hope of Macon’s cashing in on the new bounty.
There have been several attempts to ‘revive’ the downtown. Once, back in the eighties if I recall aright, some idiot in city hall decorated Cherry Street with railroad ties and prohibited parking. Made the old street look like something from the nether end of the brothel district of a Third World burg. During the nineties my family and I tried our hand at helping a city-hall promised ‘Renaissance’. Life returned briefly to Cherry, nightlife even, but the lights went dark once again as clubs closed and restaurants came and went. Many folks still fear to come downtown during the night hours even where there is a strong police presence.
The good and the bad, the Yin and Yang, and the ugly of Downtown Macon. Will this revival succeed? Newtown Macon seems to think so, but since key members of that organization have bailed out in recent weeks, its credibility is slipping. I distrust any old-fashioned, booster approach to the current revival. “Y’all come on in, the water’s fine.” The water isn’t fine.
Me? I am holding my breath. Frankly I am not certain anymore whether the Downtown is worth saving. I do love it: love walking around, doing a little shopping, taking pictures, enjoying a lunch. But I wouldn’t live down there for a farm Down East, as the old expression goes.
Wating and Watching, is this senior citizen who probably won’t live long enough to see big changes in our inner city, even if he hangs on another ten or fifteen years.
It’s all relative.
*GMHF had 42,169 folks passing through in 1997 (its first year of operation) and 38,319 last year. GSAHF saw something like 45,164 in 2000, but only 19,487 last year. In 2001 the Music Hall attendance soared to more than 72,000, but most years show a steady decline.

Dick Morris
Clinton's Direct Ties With Terrorists
Clinton's Direct Ties With Terrorists
Clearly Barack Obama should not have stayed in Rev Wright’s church and his campaign should not maintain a “friendly” relationship with William Ayers. But what about Hillary’s service on a board that gave money to a terrorist organization? And her hosting of a terror supporting group in the White House? And her acceptance of a $50,000 contribution from that group? And the statements of terrorists that they are hoping for her to win.
We seem to know more about Obama’s ties with would-be terrorists than we do about Ms. Clinton’s with real thugs.
Dick Morris straightens out that idea citing chapter and verse of Hillary’s (and, as a rule, her husband’s) direct connections with tried and true terrorists in the Middle East including the Palestinians.
As always, in the world of the Clintons, money speaks louder than anything else.
It is a good column, first appearing on Fox News. You can access it directly at Hillary’s Terrorist Ties
Like so many of Dick Morris’s pieces thesedays it swirls rapidly around the net.

Mike Adams' Hate Mail

Dear Anonymous:
You are right. Jesus never would have pushed people’s buttons. Had he pushed people’s buttons, they might have crucified him.
Mike S. Adams
Here’s a fun read. Mike Adams prints out some very negative emails he has received of late and, of course, his replies.
I notice that he included the poor saps’ email addresses.
Please remember that Professor Mike is a teacher. Teachers come into the world salivating to correct mistakes in grammar and spelling. So if you get on a high horse and write Mike, which is your right to do, use your spell checker, please. It could avoid embarrassment in some future Mike Adams column.

The Georgia Music Hall of Fame Must Act At Once To Correct A Terrible Wrong
Ed Grisamore’s Column in today’s T’GRAPH A Sideman Finally Gets His Due tells the story of Newton Collier, one of the finest musicians the city of Macon has ever produced.
The same Newton Collier whose name you most likely heard often of late on 940 AM News Radio with Shane McBryde and Ron Frazier.
The same Newton Collier whose vast knowledge of music, music history, and musicians has been extolled several times on this b’log.
The same Newton Collier being honored in Barnsville this coming weekend.
The same Newton Collier who has been passed over for induction by the GEORGIA MUSIC HALL OF FAME ever since it opened.
Lesser lights honored by the GMHF abound. Newton has never been made a member despite his many achievements and long history of service and dedication to the industry.
Here we put two questions openly, in this public forum to Lisa Love and the board of directors of the Hall of Fame: WHY has Mr. Collier been passed over? And WHEN are you going to correct this outrageous sin of omission? Macon’s citizens want to know.
Let’s get with it. Failure to do so will result in an unexpected, unannounced, and unpleasant visit by a bearded Senior Citizen who likes to pound on Desks and raise a ruckus until a shortsighted wrong is made right.

BEN STEIN
THE MOVIE
EXPELLED
THE MOVIE
EXPELLED
Yes, I did view yesterday afternoon Ben Stein’s EXPELLED, the movie that purports to show that academics who have the cojones to suggest or even think our world might have been started, or guided, or watched over by some higher power are often tossed to the wolves, losing their jobs for their belief.
The price of Martyrdom comes high.
We noted here yesterday some clown on the ‘Net complained that Stein is not a Michael Moore. For some that is a odious comparison, for others it’s a plus on the side of the former.
The late afternoon audience was composed (no idea whether this circumstance was by intelligent design or chance) largely of members of one very conservative, Baptist church here is Maconga, including one pastor, a good friend, who invited me to the showing. The theatre was 4/5’s empty, and those present tended to sit on their hands and probably didn’t appreciate when I applauded, laughed, or made minor ruckus at things I found funny….or disturbing.
The movie was good. Not sure if it were worth my breaking a twenty-six year tradition of not setting foot in a cinema house, but good. Ben Stein, aging now noticeably since his speechwriting and even his Ferris Bueller hay-days, makes the point, and, indeed states in an interview (link below) “(EXPELLED)…..is all about freedom of speech.” There are many academic communities where opposition to a kind of latter-day Darwinism is simply not permitted, its proponents are crushed, and debate on the subject not permitted.
My own take is very simple. I come from an academic background where free speech and the free exchange of ideas were encouraged. It was a heady and exhilarating environment for a very young myself to drink deeply at the many sources of knowledge. We have provided over the years a large number of examples of academic institutions, which stifle free speech, free thought, and academic freedom most often in the name of ‘political correctness’, or ‘inclusiveness’, or ‘speech codes’, or some other enobled-sounding euphemism. These include the many Town Hall columns by our favorite professor Mike Adams, battles fought even here in conservative Georgia by FIRE , and the campus writings and speeches of David Horowitz It seems to be fairly true that our modern University campi are largely (1) anti free speech; (2) anti-intellectual; and (3) favor leftist , far-leftist, actually, interpretations of the Arts and Sciences. Scientists above all other academic disciplines need to practice research within their own disciplines without bringing in pre-conceived predilections and baggage. “We print all the news that fits.” It is here that Stein is absolutely correct.
Here is a You Tube video of a recent CNN interview with Mr. Stein. It is well worth looking at for it allows us to glimpse the man's views on academic freedom. Wish I had seen it before attending the movie. Click on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-A8TiMPxMc and see for yourself.

ObamaGate
Elitism And Small Town America
Elitism And Small Town America
Unfortunately, many Republicans have come to share this misunderstanding of rural conservatives. While they hold to different economic principles than Democrats (though increasingly less-so), Republicans today see culture in terms of dollars and cents. They believe culture will function smoothly and virtuously if everyone is allowed to participate freely in the market. While these economic principles are important, they still miss the true cultural foundation of America.
Here is a great Town Hall column to get your brain stirred up early on a Sunday Morning.
Ken Connor puts Obama’s recent and very controversial remarks about small town USA into a meaningful context. And he spares neither Democrats or Republicans whose philosophical migration away from ‘the people’ to ‘the powerful and rich’ have turned those who rule and would rule us into the ‘elites’ we either detest or identify with. Says Connor, “Obama described small town blue-collar workers as "bitter", saying that they "cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." And he goes on to explain in some detail how and why this is true on both sides of the normal political spectrum.
The dichotomy between city and country has been with us since the dawn of civilization. There has long been a movement from countryside to urban life where jobs are more plentiful and where life is easier, It was true in the Ancient Middle East where, periodically, farmers had to be bound to the land lest a nation become so citified that it could not feed itself. The migration to the city-state of Rome that began in the second century B.C. was a prime example. With the coming of the industrial revolution in the United States and Europe City life became dominant, making up 80% of the population here by World War Two.
There are two distinct Americas. And the split is not so much along ethnic lines as many think. It sits atop an ideological gulf that we may never be able to span.
I do get carried away, moving further from the essay at hand than was intended. Sorry. Pleasr read Small Town Conservatives Bitter or Better

WACO
Fifteen Years Later
Fifteen Years Later
Waco…Branch Davidians….David Koresh….’fried Bible kooks’, some said.
It was just fifteen years ago on April 19th, 1993 that the tragic sequents of events resulted in the incineration of more than seventy members of a religious cult. Almost two dozen children perished that day in Waco.
Many of us believe it was a case of government excess, a situation where goons, acting in the spirit of ‘law and order’ met and destroyed those who would resist regal authority. It has been going on for some time. Doesn’t seem to matter who holds down the Oval Office or which party heads either legislative branch.
This country is in trouble. Indeed, the whole world is in a heap of hurt.
I got sidetracked today by early morning rain, an article appearing in Lewrockwell.com, and the movie EXPELLED, the Ben Stein opus which was quite good although the former White Speechwriter is ‘no Michael Moore’, according to one reviewer.
The Rockwell piece was written by a fellow named Anthony Gregory. You can access it directly here: Why Waco Still Matters and it is well-worth reading, although I think he goes just a tad too far in his Libertarian view that government and its powers are out of control. That’s a ‘tad’ too for, for the majority of his premises are right on the mark.
Some of the best features of many of the Rockwell articles are the links…links I followed closely this morning while waiting for the rain to stop. It is in these links that the real strength of such a piece can be tested.
I recommend this column….and the links. We need to re-consider the growing power of the state, which is not only a threat, an imperialistic threat to the outer world, but to our domestic selves.
America was born under the aegis, the banner, of individual freedoms for her people. We cannot allow ourselves to let these freedoms go under the guise of a phony war on drugs or a very real war on terrorism.

Dick Morris:
Return of McCain the Populist
Return of McCain the Populist
But this week, the old John McCain began to re-emerge. Articulating what tens of millions of Americans feel, he blamed the "greedy" of Wall Street for causing the current economic problems.
He noted that it was their insatiable desire to get rich quick that led to the subprime frenzy that undermined sound economic growth and created a speculative bubble that had to burst. And he said that, as always, it is the little guy who will pay the price when a recession hits, while the greedy who caused it make out, well, like bandits.
Dick Morris welcomes ‘back’ John McCain the populist whose views were largely kept under wraps until the nomination was secure.
And it is this very populism that can do in Obama in the general election. Why? Because the Junior Senator from Illinois is proving to be an unmitigated elitistlike most of the liberal leadership of the Party of the Mythic Jackass.
Good stuff, this. Well crafted as well. Read it for yourself here: McCain Hones Republican Appeal

From Bill Cosby
This in from a dear friend. I have heard and/or read parts of this .ittle gem before, but never the whole thing. It is called "Way To Go Bill". The author is Bill Cosby. Many don't know it, but 'Coz' has an earned Doctorate from U. Mass where I once met him many years ago. He is as great a man as is his public persona. Perhaps, greater.
'They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English. I can't even talk the way these people talk:
Where you is,
What he drive,
Where he stay,
Where he work,
Who you be..”.
And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk.
And then I heard the father talk.
Everybody knows it's important to speak English
except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor
with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth.
In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living. People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around.
The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal.
These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids. $500 sneakers for what??
And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.
I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit.
Where were you when he was 2??
Where were you when he was 12??
Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol??
And where is the father?? Or who is his father?
People putting their clothes on backward:
Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong?
People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something?
Or are you waiting for Jesus to pull his pants up?
Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all
the way up and got all type of needles [piercing] going through her body? What part of Africa did this come from??
We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about Africa.
With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap, and all of them are in jail.
Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem.
We have got to take the neighborhood back.
People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' -- or men or whatever you call them now.
We have millionaire football players who cannot read.
We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs. We, as black folks have to do a better job. Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us.
We have to start holding each other to a higher standard.
We cannot blame the white people any longer.'
Dr. William Henry 'Bill' Cosby, Jr., Ed.D.
WAY TO GO, BILL!!!!!!!!!
IT'S NOT ABOUT COLOR!!!
IT'S ABOUT BEHAVIOR!!!

The Deer Hunter
(Too Funny To Pass Up)
Ted Nugent, Rock star and avid bow hunter was being interviewed by a French journalist and the discussion came around to deer hunting.
The journalist asked, "What do you think is the last thought in the head of a deer before you shoot him? Is it, "Are you my friend?" or is it, "Are you the one who killed my brother?'"
Nugent replied, "Deer aren't capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is, 'What am I going to eat next, who am I going to screw next, and can I run fast enough to get away.' They are very much like the French."

LOWER BOULEVARD NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
GREAT MEETING
GREAT MEETING
We went longer than usual and talked more than usual but learned much more than usual.
The catalyst for the evening was Sheriff's Deputy Defoe who kept the meeting moving forward and thoroughly informative. Much of the discussion centered on gangs and gang activity. Tell you the truth I learned more in an hour about gang activity than I knew from decades of past experience. This guy is sharp. He is being invited back to do a full-blown presentation in a month or so.
Have you heard about EMAIL UPDATE? This is a great program developed by the Bibb County Sheriff's office Crime Prevention Section. It enables, through emails, a fantastic amount of information to be transmitted about illegal or possible illegal activities. If interested send your NAME, HOME or BUSINESS ADDRESS, and PHONE to: gmeadows@co.bibb.ga.us
Congrats to Mikki Causey our newly 'elected' president. And sincere thanks to Merry Bacon for a job well done. Merry and Deb are the founding mothers of our little group. We would be nowhere were it not for their hard work and determination.

E X P E L L E D
On Saturday next, in the company of a very conservative Baptist preacher and his family, I am going to a viewing of the new Ben Stein movie, EXPELLED.
The premise of this flick is that religious, creationist professors and students are punished in the realm of higher academe for beliefs that run contrary to the more acceptable 'scientific' concepts of evolution and, by extension, it is claimed, atheism.
This will be fun. Both the movie and the discussions before and after.
Hang on for a review of the movie once the lower forty is fully furrowed and, just possibly, a few personal comments thrown in to boot.

Lower Boulevard Neighborhood Watch Tonight
Please do not forget our Lower Boulevard Neighborhood Watch meeting this evening.
7:00 sharp at Mikki's place, 873. That's where we had that great Christmas party in December.
We have been promised by President Merry a sheriff's deputy as guest speaker. Should be a pretty good show.
We have lots to share. Please come and bring the kids. Our youngsters are proving to be an important part of our strength.
If you can, bring some goodies to share. Those brownies with the M&M's would be nice.
See you there.

I THOUGHT I THAW A PUDDYCAT
In the waining hours of a beautiful, spring afternoon I took a brief break from the physical torture of weeding, spading, and hoeing and sat inside with a glass of (unsweetened) ice tea. It was the first time I had a moment’s respite during this busy day.
And in walked a neighbor’s kid. Pretty good youngster, getting close to Those all-important Pimple Years when thoughts of teen sex and the sweet thrill of driving take precedence over everything in his universe.
“Don, Don,” said young twerp, “Let’s go see the kittens.”
Said young person is a true animal lover whose parents deny him a cat but dote on one of those ratty little dogs that yip all day and love to sink their file-sharpened little fangs into your ankle. A neighbor’s two cats had just produced two small litters.
So across the street we trekked and found in one nursery box three two week old kittens and four four week-olds in another.
New born kittens are so damned ugly that they are cute. Two of the latter batch were dark gray, roughly the same color as my four-year-old Jihad. As I was contemplating a lawsuit against the vet who deprived my cat of his ability to reproduce his or anybody’s kind, a still, small, pre-adolescent voive burst into my reverie. “Don, Don,” (I don’t let local kids call me Mr. much to the consternation of their sometimes anal parents) “I picked out two kittens for you….you know, to replace the one that got killed two weeks ago.”
Kid's having trouble with math in middle school.
Joy. Two more mouths to feed, soon. Tiny mouths grow into ravenous creatures within months. By the time yours truly could react, the kiddo had made a deal with the puss’s owner, sealed it with a solemn handshake, named the two kittens, and presented with the fact of a done deal. Screwed.
They are cute…one gray, one black probably going to look like the cartoon Sylvester of decades back.
Broke the news to my three guys and one gal this evening. They took it in stride.
My cats don't always believe me.

HERE COMES THE POPE
With A Message We All Need To Hear
With A Message We All Need To Hear
Here comes Papa…the Pope. Head of the Roman Catholic Church. Probably the most important leader within the world-wide Christian panoply, despite what venal Televangelists might claim.
He seems to be just what the RC Church and the Western World needs right now, foir he has a deep and scholarly sense of history and a clear view of the increasing Muslimification of Western Europe and much of the world beyond.
The U.S. media will focus on the problems caused by pedophilic priests in this country, and I don’t want to state anything to lessen the importance of that long on-going miscarriage of both justice and faith. But in the sum total of global difficulties facing the Church, our parochial problems are certainly not at the top of the list.
For centuries the Roman Church was the bulwark that protected the fragile thing known as Western Civilization from the onslaughts of the barbarian, including followers of the desert Prophet. So it remains today. The Pope’s visit is obviously intended at least in part to shore up our awareness of the radical Muslim agenda and to help us find the inner strength as a nation not to give in to their often violent demands.
Benedict XVI is doing the same for Europe, Africa, and Christian Asia. His message deserves a hearing in all quarters of the world.

Gardening 101
It’s planting season and for the next few days this aging, would-be farmer will be spading, raking, and even a little hoeing. All this o create a space that will see the cats and me through a nearly vegetarian summer..
Green things growing are limited to tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers….that’s all. No zucchini, lettuce, potatoes, or peas…just cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes. Trio…triad…triangle…three. Tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers.
The daunting task at hand will keep me outside and away from my desk top probably through the weekend. So there is not likely to be much action here in b’logsville.
Of course I will do what I can, but priority must be given to cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes.

It Couldn't Happen To A Nicer Guy
Newton Collier
Newton Collier
It is wonderful to see Newton Collier getting the attention, respect, and honor long due him.
Newton is true legend in music circles. This Macon native first played on the stage of the Apollo Theatre in New York as a gawky fifteen-year-old and went on from there to play with the original Otis Redding band and later joined Sam and Dave for something like fourteen years as a road musician.. He was a trumpet and trombone double threat whose prowess can be heard on countless records and videos.
On the twenty-sixth of this month he will be the honoree at the Barnsville Festival just down the road. This morning he was a major subject, the person of interest, on local talk radio 940 AM WMAC with Shane McBryde and Ron Frazier.
On a personal note, Newton Collier is a close friend of mine. He was here in my living room last night retelling the tale of his weekend encounter with the dynamic duo of talk radio land.
Back in 1994 when my Son and I opened the late and still lamented CELLAR on lower Cherry Street, we decided early on to include as much live music as possible and sent out the word to local musicians to come on down and negotiate. Our specialty was Saturday night Jazz and the joint jumped to some awesome tunes created by guys from near and far away.
One regular customer was a fellow some will remember, a djock for Q106 who ran their afternoon show. His name was Jim Franklin. In his spare time, Jim played a mean jazz horn and sometimes sat in with the guys on the stage.
A few months after opening night, a quiet, pleasant chap began showing up at the bar. He always ordered G&J, Gin and Juice. He didn’t say much at first. The talalk at the bar in those days was often about music, and we were treated night after night to musicians’ tooting their own horns as it were. These guys like most artists are inclined to be a bit egocentric and never at a loss for words.
It took six months of prodding and asking questions by Franklin and myself to draw out our modest, unassuming customer who, we discovered over time, knew so much about the music business, more it appears in retrospect than all the other musicians and wannabes who ever graced the long bar taken all together. That quiet fellow was Newton of course, who would never have volunteered in that glorious company of cutthroats and thieves the depth of his knowledge and the vast expanse of his background and understanding. He is a musician’s musician, the real deal if there ever was one, a living example of all that was once great about the Macon Music Scene.
So Newton is being honored this month. If you run into him be sure to buy him a drink and make sure it’s G&J, Gin and Juice. The juice should be grapefruit, but the gin must be bottom shelf, something akin to kerosene or turpentine….that’s what he got used to on the road and this Soul Man has never looked back.

Please click more to access the latest email from GEORGIA WATCH, a consumer organization that keeps a close watch on the state's lawmakers as they wend their tortured way through forty days and forty nights of legislative chicanery ("First, Do No Harm!!')
We get these updates regularly from Allie Wall a consumer advocate, head of Georgia Watch, and a true friend of the average Georgia consumer. We heard her frequently back when Jami and Kenny ran the 940 Morning Show. Shane and Ron might well consider making her a regular guest once again. (That's a scheduling hint, guys).
She discusses several bills that made it through the House and Senate which affect many of us. For instance, assuming that the Governor will sign them: We have a much more effective way to freeze (at virtually no cost) our credit files when we might be victims of identity theft. Further consumer protection is included in changes in the 'Lemon Law', giving us more rights when we discover the perfect car we bought last year is just a piece of Detroit junk.

This just in from Vic Jones who, when tired of writing brilliant prose, amuses us all with pretty damn good poetry. Thanks, Vic.
we only wanted a clear stream
to wash our socks
oprah gave us a refrigerator
with a television in the door
she took our pictures to put on tv
when we opened the door
she vanished
we saw our reflection in her ice cubes
we were glued
like bones from the horse factory
by a once clear stream
filled with our refrigerator leftovers
that no one notices anymore
because our socks are still dirty

MIKE ADAMS
Is This Genocide?
Is This Genocide?
A recent decision by the University of St. Thomas (UST) to deny a voice to a black pro-life speaker – one unafraid to voice concerns over the black genocide – could also be characterized as institutional racism. It doesn’t matter whether the “Catholic” university intended to suppress speech opposing a practice that is disproportionately killing blacks. If an institution in any way perpetuates a practice that adversely affects any minority then it is racist. University leftists made up the rule, and now they have to play by it.
According to Professor Adams 512 out of every 1000 pregnancies among Black women end in abortion. The figure is much lower in the general population. With Blacks being but 14% of the total, fully 37% of all abortions in the land are performed on African American women.
Sounds like a kind of legal genocide, maybe? Adams certainly thinks so.
The good professor is outraged that Star Parker, a black, pro-life speaker was not allowed a gig at the University of Saint Thomas, a Catholic institution of higher education if any such exists still in modern America. A certain Vice President of Student Affairs, Jane Canney, made the unilateral decision because she felt uncomfortable with a pro-life speaker. Ms Canney earlier had no trouble bringing Al Franken to speak at her school.
It’s an interesting piece. I do not like the way Adams seems to dwell on the Catholicism of said university, because the issue seems to be a problem within the institution, not the larger Church. Perhaps, like many ultra conservative protestants he does not recognize that Catholics are not truly ‘Christian’ according to their own narrow (and often bigoted) interpretation of the term. But he brings focus to the larger problem of the disproportionate number of abortions among Black citizens. Are we, indeed, seeing a subtle form of racial genocide taking place under our very noses?
You can read the piece here: Catholic University Helps Deny Genocide

WARTS AND ALL
I have no idea who wrote this article. It was sent in this morning by our Friend Riverside Red and is signed by a guy who calls himself ‘Senator Bob’. It is one of the most incisive political statements I have seen in recent weeks.
Senator Bob looks a very close look at the three surviving, major party candidates for president and decides that he will vote for Senator McCain ‘warts and all’. There are three brief examples from the essay that should whet your appetite for more:
(1) BARACK OBAMA: ‘Now YOU look me in the eye and ask me to believe that you never heard such language in all the years you attended there (your church). This is like me telling you that I attended dozens of Klan rallies and never once heard the "N" word. Yep. And Bill Clinton "did not inhale".’
(2) HILLARY CLINTON: ‘This disaster you refer to as "Universal Health Care". Where have you been the last 30 years ? Did you not see that socialism is a failure wherever it has been tried ? Did you not notice that the Soviet Union has collapsed since it gave no reward to those who worked the hardest for the fruits of their own labors to pay for those who will not ??’
(3) JOHN MCCAIN: ‘On the domestic front, poor John did try and reach across the aisle to the opposition in a desperate effort to compromise and to get the Congress to do something. You may not agree with his efforts, but at least he TRIED. For all his efforts, all he got handed to him was his head in a basket. The liberals are pissed at him and the conservatives are pissed at him. Just my kinda guy.

Doug Giles On
They're Rioting In Public Schools
They're Rioting In Public Schools
We’ve got a stack of untamed teens who can’t do arithmetic doing the math and figuring out that they can bank street credit for their constant disruptions and violent attacks upon students and teachers with the penalty for their crimes being (maybe) a milquetoast slap on their tattooed wrist. Maybe. And the perks for their misbehaving? Well, they radically trump the mild and tame thump the delinquent gets on their never-utilized head.
Here’s a great little article on home schooling by Doug Giles, he who writes about traditional values and morality, albeit from his perspective as a pastor. Mr. Giles began home schooling his own children a few years back and finds the difference between that approach and the chaos within so many of our public schools, where the inmates run the asylum, staggering.
The subject is fascinating to this senior citizen who spent more than half his life in a classroom and who even now teaches reading to a home schooled pre-teen. When home schooling is done right, and by ‘right’ I mean by a determined parent who has a clear understanding of what he or she is doing in the role of ‘teacher’ and the guts and dedication to carry out day after day this all-important, self-assigned burden, it is amazingly effective.
Equally, there are disasters within the home schooling community, but not, instinct and personal experience tell me, nearly as many (on a percentage basis) as inside a public school system which lies broken and shattered beyond repair.
No amount of money will fix our public schools, especially those in urban communities. This includes my home base in middle Georgia. To pretend that the system can be ‘fixed’ somehow is the cruelest hoax politicians and educators have ever perpetrated on the American people.
Giles’ column is a good, all-too-brief read on a chilly Sunday morning. It was found in the Town Hall newsletter. You may access it directly at Don’t Send Your Kids To Publik Skule If You Love Them

Hillary Clinton Supported NAFTA From The Beginning

Hillary Clinton Supported NAFTA From The Beginning
(No Matter What She Claims)
All of these Hillary Clinton fibs and exaggerations are basically harmless. But her current attempts to lie about her record and to pretend that she always opposed free trade agreements and disagreed with Bill on NAFTA is a serious distortion of her record as she searches for blue collar support in Pennsylvania.
Forgetting the nit-picking ‘fibs’ uttered so frequently on the campaign trail, there is one that is absolutely glaring in its importand in the way it discloses a candidate who will lie at the drop of a hat on matters serious as well as frivilous.
Mrs. Clinton claims to have opposed NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement from the beginning. Citing chapter and verse, Dick Morris here exposes what is clearly a most blatant falsehood. The fact is that she supported NAFTA from the outset as it was a very important part of her husband’s economic policy early in his presidency.
Personally I simply do not trust this individual to lead our nation. All politicians lie, that’s part of the nature of the screwed up beast, but Clinton raises it to a whole level not seen since the days of Huey Long or the original Mayor Richard Daily of old Chi Town.
Morris’ column is particularly telling in that he exploits his insider status to prove his point. Read it for yourself: Hillary’s NAFTA Pretensions
What will the good lady (or her husband) think of next?

CONTACT GOVERNOR PERDUE
about
HB 89
As I am very pressed for time this morning, I am taking a liberty and posting here a copy of the email that I just received from the GCO, which is the group that shepherded HB 89 through the Georgia Legislative process. In a nutshell it says: CONTACT THE GOVERNOR.....Please do so just as soon as you can. Remember, be polite...put what you write or say in a positive light.
Here is the email:
Dear GCO Member,
GCO is asking all of you to now pitch in and help.
As you know the Georgia Restaurant Association is very publicly urging Governor Perdue to veto HB 89. MARTA is doing the same thing (it is nice to know your tax dollars are being used against your civil rights, isn't it?). The Georgia Restaurant Association has over 3,000 members, most of whom do not seem to know it is already legal to carry a firearm in their establishments (since most of them do not serve alcohol). In addition, the Governor is being flooded with negative telephone calls stemming from the stream of misinformation being conveyed by the news media.
Please sit down and write Governor Perdue using your personal stationary or paper. Then, grab the telephone and call him. When you are finished, please take the time to send an email. Let him know you support HB 89 and you would appreciate him signing it into law.
Then please contact members of your family and friends and ask them to do the same.
Here is Governor Perdue's contact information:
> Be Polite
> Be Precise
> Don't Be Long Winded
> If You Call, Know What You Want To Say Before Dialing (suggest writing it down even)
> Use Multiple Methods Of Contact; Do Not Use The Same Message

As always, please exercise extreme courtesy and self restraint in dealing with Gov. Perdue's office.
Notable Quotable
The amendments stand a good chance of passing.
When asked whether he supported the idea of allowing guns in restaurants and on public transportation, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle said he did not see a problem.
"We are talking about individuals who have gone through a background check and are certified to carry a weapon. It's not the wild, wild West."
[Rep. Tim] Bearden said 43 other states allow guns on public transportation. Thirty-seven states allow permit holders to carry weapons into restaurants.
"It's not like we're on the cutting edge here," he said.

Oh What A Tangled Web They Weave
When Clintons Us They Do Deceive
When Clintons Us They Do Deceive
Frequently, the agendas of these lobbyists directly contradict Sen. Clinton's positions. While Hillary has often criticized the outsourcing of American jobs, Glover Park was paid $120,000 to push for a Defense Department award to the French company Airbus. Quinn's firm got over $600,000 on the deal. Stonebridge International, headed by former National Security Council Adviser and Hillary confidante Sandy Berger got $180,000.
In a short column Dick Morris discloses more details about the involvement of both Clintons, Hillary and Billary, in a tangled web of international intrigue featuring themselves, well paid lobbyists, foreign countries, and Clinton campaign staff than I ever imagined existed. I think this will surprise and shock anyone who isn’t a dyed-in-the-will, catatonic, brainwashed Clinton acolyte.
Intimate financial ties with Columbia, Taiwan, Dubai and most likely other foreign countries (places where much money and profit lies for all to partake) make suspect anything this lucre grubbing duo does.

It is the text of a poignant speech given by the late Charlton Heston to an audience at Harvard University.

NEWTON COLLIER
There is a poster circulating around town advertising for the upcoming 4th Annual Barnesville Festival featuring BBQ and BLUES.
And lots and lots of music....food....beer (natch) and fun on the weekend of April 25-26 in Downtown Barnsville.
This event has grown exponentially every year, becoming in a short time a major must-see here in the Mid State.
Absent from the poster is the fact that the Festival will honor, among others, Macon's Best-known Soul man, the Mayor of Downtown, the Go-to Guy when you want to know something about the Music Business, Newton Collier.
A long time road musician with Sam and Dave, as well as a member of Otis Redding's original band, Mr. Collier is a world famous experet on the phenomenon known as Stax Records as well as the glorious original and traditional R&B Music movement.

Mike Adams Encounters Some
Post Modern Feminists
Post Modern Feminists
The decision of the UCLA feminists to storm out of the room was not a direct confirmation of conclusion # 19 from my book (that feminists are the biggest censors on college campuses today). But it does show that their love for the First Amendment is lacking. And they certainly lacked the courage to stick around for the Q and A session. The black students always stick around to discuss race and the dialogue is always informed. The feminists, however, are just too emotionally distressed to stick around and talk it out (please refer back to conclusion #7).
Criminology Professor Mike Adams flies to California to give a speech at UCLA. About two dozens individuals whom he identifies as ‘feminists’ enter the lecture room together, sit together, do not join in with the general mirth and joviality surrounding them, and storm out together in stone-like silence.
Those of us who have been (or are) married know the syndrome.
It appears from here that the entire two dozen young women were affected simultaneously by a case of the PMFS (Post Modern Feminist Syndrome).
They walked out on Mike and Mike gets the last licks in because he writes about the l’il darlings holding them up to ridicule across the blogosphere.
He also proves the point that feminists in general lack a sense of humor.

Some Damn Fine Police Work In East Macon
Too much of the time they are under-appreciated, our Macon PD.
But an event took place early this week, a minor event, perhaps, within the sum total of all police work, but a happening that lets us know we are blessed with some damn good cops here in East Macon, men and women of vision, tenacity, intelligence, and a willingness to take charge and get a difficult job done.
It started with a Precinct Meeting held Monday night last. We have these things once a month or so where ordinary citizens, Neighborhood Watch folks mostly, get together with Captain May and/or Lieutenant Brazee who run Precinct One like a tight ship and have driven crime down a whopping 5% for the first quarter of 2006. This is no mean feat here in East Macon. This has been accomplished by good old fashioned police work and a wonderful ability to cooperate with and relate to the citizens who live hereabouts.
A problem within our immediate neighborhood came up. It was discussed, probed, and action promised. The next day, after a series of phone calls, interviews, and electronic communication, an arrest was made. The process took a mere nineteen hours. The happy outcome was the direct result of (1) superb police work and (2) cooperation between the officers involved and several civilians.
For several reasons details of this report is purposefully vague. However our hat goes off to two MPD personnel who exemplify everything that is good about their most difficult profession. Kudos to Lieutenant Brazee and Officer Murray of the First Precinct. Thanks guys. Our world is a safer place thanks to you.

Advice From Dick Morris
How McCain Can Beat Obama
How McCain Can Beat Obama
There is in Obama something of the Democratic candidate for president in the 1950s, Adlai Stevenson. Both from Illinois, they share an eloquence that lifts them above normal political figures and a profundity of thought that lies behind it. But each was seen as weak, and Stevenson as indecisive. Obama’s over-intellectualization of issues and of the problems that crop up in his campaign will increasingly harden into a perception of a lack of sufficient strength to deal with America’s problems
So goes the latest column from Dick Morris, the ultimate ex-insider. He gives here a suggestion, a very strong suggestion, to the McCain campaign how to exploit Obama’s greatest perceived weakness, his indecision.
The comparison with Adlai Stevenson in ’52 and ’56 is brilliant. Well do I remember those campaigns. Stevenson, intellectual, brilliantly rhetorical lost out to an ex-general whose simple eloquence (‘I’m neither left nor right, just sort of middle of the road’) and firm sense of direction made him an effective campaigner.
Read it here: Obama’s Weakness is Weakness
I do think Morris is right on target with this one. McCain must campaign in a way that counter the effect on the mesmerized masses taken in by the mellifluous but vacuous speaking style of the Junior Senator from Illinois.

How HB 89 Affects Georgians
Lots of sportsmen are confused about what HB 89 means to those in the Peach State. Here is a brief summary from the NRA which seems top cover it pretty well.
The bill awaits Governor Perdue's signature. You might send him an email saying, politely, 'sign'.
According to the NRA. HB89 will:
HB 89 will:
Ø Allow licensed carry permit holders to possess a firearm in any private motor vehicle while on any publicly accessible parking lot;
Ø Prohibit gun dealer entrapment schemes, such as those orchestrated by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg;
Ø Allow concealed carry permit holders to carry in State Parks, recreational areas and wildlife management areas;
Ø Create a reduced time limit for various stages of the concealed carry license application process; and
Ø Allow concealed carry permit holders to carry in restaurants and public transportation.

Mike Adams:
COMBATING THOSE CAMPUS APOSTATES
COMBATING THOSE CAMPUS APOSTATES
Two Jewish researchers went on campus (this is not a joke) last year to see just how anti-Semitic the faculty were. Their findings? In a survey of over 6,600 college professors across the country, they found virtually no anti-Semitism. Instead, they found a distinct bias against evangelical students: More than half (53%) of college faculty view evangelical students unfavorably. Mormons are next at 33%, followed by Muslims at 22%.
Prof Mike Adams, lately as prolific as Dick Morris in his ‘popular’ writing, gives us here what looks like a shill job for a program called CROSS EXAMINED, the creation of a dynamic evangelist named Frank Turek.
Shill job? Maybe, but Mike’s shilling comes from the heart. His over-all concern here is that most…a huge majority of college students who begin higher education as practicing Christians leave the church during those undergraduate years, many never to return.
Turek’s program is a way to fight back instead of relying only on hand-wringing and canned prayer.
So Sayeth Mike Adams.

Mike Adams’ most recent Town Hall column is a welcome respite from the mentally challenging ‘Letters’ series he has presented of late.
It’s called simply The Prisoner and it details the relationship his Texas Baptist mother had with an incarcerated felon, whom she tried to help when he graduate from his sentence for armed robbery.
It is an interesting story with a wonderful and unexpected twist at the end. It illustrates the strength of what Jesus termed Bread Casting.
We wonder why the United States locks up so many of her citizens.
It is a good little Monday Morning read.

Mike Adams Continues His
Secular Nation Letters
Secular Nation Letters
Harris certainly falls short of his goal when he makes statements like this:
“According to a recent Gallup poll, only 12 percent of Americans believe that life on earth has evolved though a natural process, without the interference of a deity. Thirty-one percent believe that evolution has been ‘guided by God.’ If our worldview were put to a vote, notions of ‘intelligent design’ would defeat the science of biology by nearly three to one. This is troubling, as nature offers no compelling evidence for an intelligent designer and countless examples of unintelligent design.”
It is temping to quarrel over Harris’ use of the term “unintelligent design.” But there is a more important problem with his statement; namely, that it ignores the true reason why so many people reject the position that life on earth has evolved entirely through a natural process. That reason, of course, is a lack of fossil evidence supporting the notion that evolution explains variations between, not just within, species.
Here is a Mike Adams’ column I failed to include last week. It is a continuation of his attack on the arguments of Sam Harris in his often-assigned book, Letters To A Christian Nation, oft-assigned by college professors trained largely as anti-Christianity crusaders.
Although I do not share the good professor’s own religious conviction, I find his arguments excellent. This is not the usual sarcastic, acerbic Adams, this is the full-blown rhetorical argumentation of a solid, academic scholar as well as a man who passionately believes in what he writes.
That is to be admired.

THE WAYCROSS ELEVEN

THE WAYCROSS ELEVEN
UNDISCIPLINE BRATS WILL BE...
It appears that young students today have now solidly tapped into ancient demons, and I pity the grossly underpaid teachers who have to field their crap in class on a daily basis. I speak to teachers across the nation via my Townhall.com column and ClashRadio.com, and the good ones are at wit’s-frickin’-end because the kids have figured out that they can do whatever the heck they want—and there’s really nothing a teacher can do about it.
There has been much discussion this week about the “Waycross Eleven”, that gang of eight and nine-year-old third grade thugs who plotted to kill or injure their teacher.
Kids were angry that she had punished one of their number for disrupting class, sentencing him to a ‘time out’, that limp-wristed, twenty-first century substitute for real discipline in our government schools.
The incident brings some unfavorable publicity to the Peach State. What it really shows is that our schools are just as ineffective as schools everywhere in this once great Republic. Public (or ‘government’) education is a joke. Everybody seems to know it, even the educators. Politicians on all levels seem to be locked in a galaxy far away and only exacerbate an already troubled system by tinkering with the details when they might be looking at the broader picture. Or, better, staying out of the business altogether.
It doesn’t bother me that Doug Giles, a Town Hall columnist and talk show host is a preacher. Hell there are two Baptist parsons living within a block of me and I count them as friends, most of the time, anyway. (The occasional ‘witnessing’ does get boring pretty fast, but I only put up with it when there are children around….the preachers’ children.) Giles has a deeply ingrained sense of morality most of which I share.
This all comes together in a delightful column which minces no words. Of particular interest is the very last paragraph. Read it at

FROM THE BOORTZ BLAST
Blond jokes are politically incorrect.
You just can't tell them any more than you can say, "A Rabbi, a priest, a minister, and an Imam walked into a bar....."
So here is a blond joke from Neal Boortz's latest BOORTZ BLAST, subscription newsletter. Hell it's free:
A blonde lady motorist was about two hours from San Diego when she was flagged down by a man whose truck had broken down. The man walked up to the car and asked, "Are you going to San Diego?"
"Sure," answered the blonde, "do you need a lift?"
"Not for me. I'll be spending the next three hours fixing my truck. My problem is I've got two chimpanzees in the back which have to be taken to the San Diego Zoo. They're a bit stressed already so I don't want to keep them on the road all day. Could you possibly take them to the zoo for me?
I'll give you $100 for your trouble."
"I'd be happy to," said the blonde. So the two chimpanzees were ushered into the back seat of the blonde's car and carefully strapped into their seat belts. Off they went.
Five hours later, the truck driver was driving through the heart of San Diego when suddenly he was horrified! There was the blonde walking down the street and holding hands with the two chimps, much to the amusement of a big crowd. With a screech of brakes he pulled off the road and ran over to the blonde. What the hell are you doing here?" he demanded, "I gave you $100 to take these chimpanzees to the zoo."
"Yes, I know you did," said the blonde," but we had money left over---so now we're going to Sea World."

FRON GEORGIA CARRY dot ORG
SUCCESS!!!
Now Let's Get Movin'
SUCCESS!!!
Now Let's Get Movin'
The following email arrived overnight from GEORGIA CARRY dot ORG.
It brings us up to date on the pro-firearms legislation that has now finished the hurdles of the legislative process.
The letter mentions HB 89. It is my understanding that 89 merged with HB257, requiring the passage of only one law. All it lacks now is the Governor’s signature.
If you are not a member of Georgia Carry, but are a sane and safe pro-gun advocate, I personally urge that you join the organization. Costs a mere fifteen bucks, but it allows you to join the growing chorus of those of us who are pushing to get some sane firearms legislation passed in this state. GCO does not use strong arm tactics, threats, or intimidation. It maintains an outward, gentlemanly demeanor and, armed with a solid legal staff, works hard to convince politicians to listen to its members.
We still have a lot to do.
Here is the release:
Dear GCO member,
Thanks to your efforts, HB 89 was passed in a landslide today.
HB89 is on its way to the Governor to sign. For the first time in our lifetimes, Georgia Firearms Licensees will be able to carry in restaurants that serve alcohol, State Parks (and the buildings thereon), Wildlife Management Areas, and on mass transit. This victory would not have possible without GCO members Sen. John Douglas, and of course Rep Timothy Bearden and their without their personal efforts and leadership. In the darkest days when everyone wanted HB89 to go away, these patriots would not surrender or quit. They are reason why HB89 passed.
Tim Bearden stated tonight after the vote that your contacts made a difference today when the situation appeared bleak.
Tonight, we'll savor the sweetness of victory and liberty. Tomorrow, we go back to work as there is much to do. In June, Heller v. D.C will be decided and GCO's attorneys will take maximium advantage of the ruling. In the summer, the House and the Senate will hold comprehensive hearings to study Georgia's gun laws, GCO will be there. In November, our friends will be seeking re-election and to the maximum extent allowed by law, GCO will be there. In January, the Legislative session begins anew, GCO will be there with another bill.
I hope you are as excited as I am about the opportunities in front of us to further our right to bear arms. GCO intends to make Georgia the most gun and self-defense friendly state in the USA.
Next time you carry your firearm, remember that you can do so through the efforts of .... Senator John Douglas and Representative Bearden. These men are patriots and have earned our support and gratitude.
Please watch the videos of the vote at the following link. http://www.georgiapacking.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=174172#174172 Sen. Chip Rogers does a wonderful job of fielding hostile questions during the Senate debate.

IT'S THE WITCHING HOUR FOR TWO IMPORTANT GUN BILLS NOW BEFORE THE STATE SENATE
Due to the serious and time sensitive nature of the following, I did not get permission to reproduce the following email received just a short time ago from the Georgia Carry organization.
Georgians who are fighting to improve gun laws in the peach state need to contact your state senator as well as Casey Cagle and Tommie Williams IMMEDIATELY....TODAY.....AT ONCE.
All pertinent info is found in the email below.
The Georgia Real Estate people are making some unintended problems for us today. Their dispute centers on the private parking lots issue, not restaurants or mass transit, but it may affect us by torpedoing a delicate situation.
It is vitally important that we get both bills through the Senate today. HB 89 contains the language authorizing carry in restaurants, while HB 257 contains the mass transit language, as the bills are currently worded for consideration in the Senate.
Please call the Senate and make a polite request that they pass both HB 89 and HB 257.
GCO's other members need you.
Most important - Please call Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle at (404) 656-5030 or contact him via email at casey.cagle@ltgov.ga.gov
Second most important - Pleas call Senate Majority Leader Tommie Williams at (404) 656-0089 or contact him via email at tommie@tommiewilliams.com
Third: Don't forget your own Senator! http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2007_08/senate/senatelist.php
Please help!

PREPARING FOR
THE
COMING
CANNIBALISM
THE
COMING
CANNIBALISM
Ted Turner, former consort of quondam actress Jane Fonda, predicts that the world's population is growing so fast, and global warming is becoming so severe that this earth will experience wide-spread cannibalism by the middle of the century.
It's time to start thinking about our personal preparations for this calamity.
Some will stockpile weapons, I guess, create vast garden spaces and build secure shelters to house domestic animals that can be raised for food.
Me? I am not doing any of these. They take too much time and trouble. By the time the anticipated consumption of our fellow man arrives, I will have a first rate supply of good old Louisiana hot sauce stashed safely away.

Dick Morris On
What Fools These Voters Be
What Fools These Voters Be
From the very beginning of her solo political career, Hillary Clinton has manifested a consistently low opinion of the intelligence of voters. Sometimes the bet has paid off — as when she tried to convince New Yorkers that she wanted to become one of them (when, in fact, she would have run in Montana had there been a vacancy). But lately, it hasn't. Her entire decision to predicate her campaign on the basis of her so-called “experience” reflected a belief that she could put one over on us by co-opting Bill's experience and making it her own. So enticed was she by the prospect of attacking Obama for his lack of tenure in federal office that she didn't stop to notice that she didn't have much more than he did and could only make her point by exaggerating her role in her husband's administration. Small matter. She was so confident that she could pull off the deception that she premised her entire campaign on her ability to do so.
The Clinton Machine has made many, many mistakes during what should have been an effortless, easy campaign leading to coronation in January.
So far it hasn’t happened that way and Dick Morris, the ultimate insider, explains one reason why. You will probably like this one for its delicious flavor and certainty.
Check it out at Hillary’s Biggest Mistake
I found it on this morning’s Town Hall newsletter.
Ciao

AND FINALLY
AFTER ALMOST THREE YEARS
MACON TO HOLD
A GANG SEMINAR
AFTER ALMOST THREE YEARS
MACON TO HOLD
A GANG SEMINAR
The Headline reads Macon police to hold awareness seminar on city gangs.
Wow! We have gangs in Macon!! The article cites Old C. Jack as denying the existence of gangs in our fair city as early as last year. It goes back years before that.
In the summer of 2005 there was a nasty incident in the Colonial Mall. Somebody was stabbed by a couple of juvenile females…and there was uproar. The community suddenly came to the realization that the old mall was no longer the family-friendly shopping mecca it once was. On the weekends, particularly, the place wasswarmed over and dominated by gaggles of wilding teens who pretty much used the place as a peripatetic hangout.
After a couple of days’ silence from City Hall, the Mayor Ellis called a news conference featuring himself (naturally) newly minted police chief Burns, and whoever it was who ran the mall. A crackdown was promised. The mall is safe. Kids will be kids. Nothing to worry about. We’re on top of this. Shop without fear. Etc. Ect. Etc.
I asked a question of hizzonor, does Macon have a Gang Problem? One raises his hand at a public news conference, just like we did once upon a time in school.
Of course not, replied the Mayor, we only have “Wannabes”. He said it twice. Chief Burns agreed. Case closed. That would have been that.
But, sadly for the choreographed event, yours truly had lived too long in East Macon. I not only knew some ‘gangstas’ personally, had observed them in a few relatively non-violent activities, and had helped remove strange graffiti from facilities private and public that looked strangely like ‘gang signs’ published on official police websites.
And so, in complete ignorance of News Conference protocol, I skipped the part about raising my hand and, a few minutes later pushed Ellis much harder this time: Macon does have gangs. The workings of the poor man’s jaw muscles and the clenching of the fists was obvious, but once again, slowly and deliberately, not a little out of breath, he repeated the ‘wannabe’ mantra. Conference over, this guy ran to his keyboard.
“Wannabes” was picked up by Kenny and Jami on 940 radio and from that point on every time obvious gang activity has taken place, it has been treated as something more serious than the ex-mayor’s glossing over the situation.
So finally, if you read the brief article linked above, Macon has come to the full and final realization that gangs and gangstas do exist and steps are being taken to address the problem.
Here’s one hint for the awareness seminar boys and girls: DRUGS.
Here’s another: FRACTURED FAMILIES
And a third: CRAPPY EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM
Just random thoughts, maybe we really don’t have any gangs. Sure wouldn’t want them to become a problem during Cherry Blossom.

Air America
Suspends
RANDI RHODES
Suspends
RANDI RHODES
Air America has suspended Randi Rhodes, controversial, liberal talk show hostess for a public, ad hominem attack on Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro. This according to the NEW YORK TIMES.
Said the Times article, “Ms. Rhodes used vulgar language that likened Mrs. Clinton to a prostitute at an event sponsored by KKGN, the Air America affiliate in the San Francisco area, on March 22. A video of Ms. Rhodes’ remarks was published to the video-sharing Web site YouTube on Tuesday, prompting condemnations by some bloggers.”
If that link doesn’t work, try HERE STRONG LANGUAGE FOR ADULTS ONLY, please….AND NOT EVEN ALL ADULTS.
If Rhodes is removed permanently, that will mean the second departure of Air America’s Big Two top talents. Al Franken, unpaid and under appreciated, is now gathering backing for a run for the Senate.
The failure of Air America as a commercial venture running in opposition to (generally) conservative talk radio shows that its founds lacked a fundamental appreciation of what it means to succeed in the marketplace.
Hmmmmmm.

DICK MORRIS ON
What Will Algore Do?
What Will Algore Do?
For what? Our guess is that Al is keeping his powder dry to lead the superdelegates in accepting the will of the voters. Perhaps in concert with a Gang of Five that might include former president Jimmy Carter, Pelosi, Party Chairman Howard Dean and former candidate John Edwards, Gore may act as the elder statesman in the party, stepping in after all the voters have spoken, asking the Clintons to accept the will of the people and give way.
The further Dick Morris gets away from his core subject, Her Nibs, Hillary Clinton, the less viable his opining becomes.
He tries here to analyze the mind of the ex-veep, Algore, defeated in an honest election back in 2000, that’s ‘honest election’ despite more than seven years of constant rhetoric blaring the ‘stolen election’ mantra by angry Democrats. Very angry Democrats.
It’s not an uninteresting column, it simply lacks the inner sense of ‘delicioso’ Morris gives to his diatribes against Mrs. Clinton.
Read it for yourself: Gore Role Remains a Mystery to All But Al

FIRST FRIDAY AT JOYCINE'S
Friday upcoming is Macon's 'First Friday', when the downtown opens up to a sometimes flood of extra late week partygoers. Usually we get a head's hp from the folks over at Newtown Macon, but their program tends to come in too late to do any promotional good. I have voiced this concern, written about it, and am pretty much fed up with getting the promotion the day of First Friday or the day before.
But here is Joycine's gallary. Recently moved from Cherry Street where it had sat since the days of Bobby E. Lee and Jeff Davis to wonderful new quarters on Cotton Ave. All the First Friday details can be found below.

MIKE ADAMS
SAM HARRIS
and
SECULAR HUMANISM
SAM HARRIS
and
SECULAR HUMANISM
Instead, Sam Harris seeks to make Secular Humanism the “official religion” of each of our fifty United States. And he seeks to turn our public schools into houses of worship for the Secular Humanist religion with compulsory attendance for children funded with compulsory offerings by adults.
In titling his column Letter To A Secular Nation, Mike Adams charges into battle against Sam Harris, author of the recent Letter To A Christian Nation. Mr. Harris is the author of the earlier The End of Faith and is labeled, by Professor Adams, as a ‘Secular Humanist’.
Harris starts his recent tome complaining that he has received ‘hate mail’ from Christians regarding his first publication. Not surprising, reasons Adams, the places in the world where libraries and the internet exist without too much government control is within countries that are, nominally at least, Christian. Not likely to snare many readers in a backwards place lacking indoor both indoor plumbing and ‘Net access.
Adams hammers the point and promises us more, much more in the next several weeks. Mike doesn’t like ‘secular humanism’.
Between thee and me and everybody else, I detest the common use of the term ‘Secular Humanism’, coined, I believe, by the late Jerry Fowell. It was created as a pejorative term to stand in opposition to ‘Christian’, or ‘religious’, or some concept that implies adherence to faith. It, like ‘post modern’ is one of those meaningless buzz terms that have, stupidly, become ingrained in modern society and have been assigned meaning below and behind the original meaning of the word(s) themselves.
I call myself a ‘humanist’, meaning simply that I am (1) interested in the affairs of man and (2) tend to put homo sap as the center of my little universe. A Humanist can be religious or not. He can be a member of a church or religion, or he may be, as am I, an Atheist. To tack on the term ‘secular’ to ‘humanist’ is to bastardize the meaning of the latter word, demeaning it in a way that only ultra right-wing Christians understands. In my neighborhood, here on Reformed Baptist Boulevard, to call somebody a ‘secular humanist’ is to hurl at him a term of utter contempt.
Color me Secular Humanist.
Off the subject. Go read Mike (link above). The column appeared in this morning;s Town Hall

And Here in Georgia
Third Graders Plot to Murder their Teacher
Third Graders Plot to Murder their Teacher
The headline screams Eleven Students Plot To Kill Third Grade Teacher
Click on the brief article and you will discover that, indeed, eleven boys and girls in Waycross, Georgia hatched a plot to murder their teacher and even clean up the blood after the deed was done. Friday was D-Day, somebody ratted the little darlings out. There will be no killing in that class this week, at least.
The eight and nine year olds have been removed from the school and the situation is under investigation.
Eight and nine-nine-year-old children. Babies, actually, kids too young to have much judgment or sense. Yet they pledged to work together to exterminate the elementary teacher who punished one of them.
Punished? Yes, apparently, she gave the kid a ‘time out’, one of those stupid little child rearing techniques addlebrained experts have substituted for real discipline in home and classroom. “Stop hitting Mary with your baseball bat, Jimmy, or I shall have to give you five minutes in time out.”
Nothing much will happen to these little bastards by way of consequences. A slap on the wrist of some sort, most likely. And there is no reason to punish severely because they didn’t actually kill the lady, did they now? Besides it’s all her fault in the first place for lowering that one boy’s self esteem. Had they actually gone through with the plot, they still wouldn’t get much more than a little slap on the wrist.
They are but little victims. This is one more example of the complete wussification of American public education, which may be public, but it sure ain’t education.

Lowering Taxes in Macon and Bibb County
In a rare show of cooperation and agreement, following a joint meeting yesterday of the Macon City Council and Bibb County Commission, Miriam Parris and Charlie Bishop issued a joint statement to the effect that both city and county governments would in 2008 (1) lower significantly the property tax on all privately-owned properties within the appropriate jurisdiction and (2) Identify and ruthlessly cut all unnecessary spending.
Said one City Council member who asked not to be identified, “I haven’t seen anything like this in my three decades on Council. The mood in that room to reduce spending, and return both governments to a budget balancing, fiscally responsible, pay as you go basis was overwhelming. It went beyond party lines. We were swept up in a wave of both emotion and pure common sense.”
“We have always been more than a little selfish with taxpayer money, spending it carelessly, heedless of the burden imposed upon the average property owner struggling in this era of inflation, near-recession, and astronomical gasoline prices,” echoed one popular Bibb County Commissioner, “It is time we took the bull by the tail and faced the situation.”
A written communique issued by both bodies stated, “Property owners can expect a refund on their taxes this year that will dwarf whatever they get from the Federal Government. This will come no later than early May. Further, they can expect a significant drop in their property taxes next Fall. “
It is good to know that locally elected officials are waking up to their real responsibilities

OFFENSIVE SPEECH
and
FREE STUFF
for the
OFFENDED
and
FREE STUFF
for the
OFFENDED
The practice of universities giving free stuff to a whole group as a result of the victimization of one person in a group is something about which the public knows little. But the public should learn more about it because it explains so much of what happens on college campuses today. For example, it explains why feminists at Duke University are so upset when they find out a woman wasn’t really raped.
This Mike Adams column appeared in yesterday’s Town Hall newsletter.
It is couched as an open letter to' President Bowles’, head of the entire University System in North Carolina.
It is about time, he reasons, that campus Christians be permitted the same rights as other campus groups….namely the right to receive ‘free stuff’ in the form of extra privileges when a single member of the group is offended by some hate-harboring footpad of an outsider. He concludes with four ‘demands’.
Good stuff….funny and sarcastic (Dr. Mike Sarcastic? Quel Horreur!!!) It will start your morning off with a laugh…unless you are easily offended by almost everything. Read it for yourself at: The Jesus Freak Resource Center
