STALKER
It appears that I have a stalker.
All I know about her is that she often passes my house on foot, obviously checking me out. She is attractive, dark, younger than Middle Age, and a tenacious, very determined female. And, no, I have not yet filed a police report.
In this b’logging business, wherein an individual’s safety is sometimes at risk due to angry, sometimes deranged individuals, we learn to be careful. For instance, right after I published the Twelve Danish Cartoons of the Muslim prophet, Mohammed, I received several emails and letters in what I think is Arabic or Persian. Are they threats or do they agree with my rather strong position? I don’t know, I don’t read any Near Eastern script. People die daily for the stupidest reasons. I would rather go filled with years and wisdom in my own bed.
There were, of course, nasty emails in English. I don’t mind those as much since their meaning is obvious.
I have been aware of this ‘stalker’ for some time. But this evening, with dinner on the stove, I caught a glimpse of her skulking around the back of my little apartment. I waited for the right moment and held my breath as I inched toward the metal door ever so slowly. Silently, Stealthily.
Flinging it open I saw her face to face, up close and personal, right there on the mat just beyond the opening.
I was so startled that I couldn’t speak.
She uttered only a single word, simple, direct one syllable.
“Meow” was all she said.

IT IS TIME TO UNFUND THE GEORGIA MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND THE SPORTS HALL OF FAME
I first got the news from a NewTown Macon mid-week post. Then it hit the media.
Shudder….the Georgia General Assembly is wrangling over how much to slash the cash pipeline flowing from taxpayer pockets into the veins of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame and its sister venue, the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
The Tourist bureau is outraged, of course, arguing that if we de-fund the museums, it will damage the renaissance taking place downtown. It won’t, of course, that’s knee-jerk posturing. Any loss of funds should be offset by increased promotion and haqrd work on the part of the employees and the community.
It’s about time to have a serious debate. These two boondoggles should have become self-sufficient years ago.
I ride or walk past the GMHF two or three times a week and always count the cars in the parking lot. It is empty or nearly so almost every day. Even the most casual observer would think that this is not a thriving business attracting thousands of daily visitors off the interstates.
Museum folk don’t have to bust butt when they are lavishly fueled and underwritten from the public trough.
I remember well a night in September of ’06 when the Music Hall of Fame opened. It was a gala and a half, a huge event for our small city. Yours truly spent much of the night behind the bar of the club I owned along with my son Rob. We had a great band going, food went fast, drinks even faster. The evening saw a wonderful mix of hotshots skipping out of the main event to hear our band and a packed house of regulars. Party people, especially given the amount of alcohol available, spoke freely.
I was told in no uncertain terms by folks close to Governor Miller, Grandpop of the GMHF, that the politicians in Atlanta were giving the museum five years to became solvent. If it didn’t, it would be Shanghaied to Atlanta, or Athens where it belonged in the first place according to the powerful bozos (Democrats, largely) who felt from the beginning that sleepy little Macon could never host so important a facility.
More than twice five years have come and gone and the General Assembly seems ready to reduce the download of dough. Maybe. It might be that they are posturing, pretending to save the taxpayers a tiny bit of money in the grand scheme of the massive State budget. Maybe Macon’s chickens are returning to the roost.
The place seemed to start off with a bang. Lots of activity: Tourists. Parties. Busloads of School kids. Then, after a couple of years things changed, becoming less dynamic, less fulfilling, vanilla. The great ones on the staff, those with drive, imagination, flare, and a sense of innovation, individuals like Nikki Randall, Marty Willets, Rob Blunt, Paul Brown, even Newt Collier the ultimate volunteer, found themselves out in the cold, no longer needed, replaced by others better connected politically. From that point on the Georgia Music Hall of Fame went down the well-worn primrose-lined path to perdition.
What does all this mean? The General Assemblyneeds to give the Halls a firm deadline for the lopping of funds….and stick with it. They will never rise to any real kind of greatness, stand alone success, until the umbilical chord is cut.

NRA ALERT FOR GEORGIANS
Received the following notice from the NRA which regularly sends out 'alerts' state by state warning of impending Second Amendment oriented legislation. Please read and act. I was unable to get an answer from my own state senator earlier in the year. His refusal to acknowledge my letter will become a political issue.
GEORGIA: Most Important Right-to-Carry Reform Bill in Over 20 Years Needs Your Help! House Bill 89, critical Right-to-Carry Reform legislation, is being held up by the Georgia State Senate! Back in January the Georgia House passed HB 89 by an overwhelming vote of 111 to 58. THE SENATE IS STILL REFUSING TO CONCUR! It is crucial that HB 89 be brought up for a FINAL floor vote. HB 89 would make numerous improvements to Georgia's right-to-carry law by expanding the areas where permit holders may carry to include state parks, public transportation, and restaurants; reduce the time limit to issue a permit, and allow permit holders to possess a firearm in any private motor vehicle while on any publicly accessible parking lot. Help protect your right to self-defense in Georgia. The 2008 Session ends Friday, April 4, so please make sure that you call your State Senator, as well as State Senators Joseph Carter and Ronnie Chance, members of the Senate Conference Committee, today and urge them to bring HB 89 up for a final floor vote. Senators Carter and Chance can be reached by phone at (404) 651-7738. To find your Senator and contact information, please click here. Please also call Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle at (404) 656-5030 or via email at casey.cagle@ltgov.ga.gov and Senate Majority Leader Tommie Williams at (404) 656-0089 or via email at tommie@tommiewilliams.com and urge them to request HB 89 come up for a final floor vote.

Springtime Is Supposed To Mean Baseball
We lost our baseball team this week.
Wasn’t a particularly great team, but it was a fun team, and it was ours. We attended games in what seemed like large numbers, we baseball starved fans who preferred the antics of the bottom of the minors to the drugs and bloated salaries of the Show.
Attended games in an old ballpark where the kids of summer played on real grass and dreamed of going to ‘The Bigs’ in a far-off someday that will likely never come.
But they entertained us well, played some pretty fair ball, showed spunk and courage under fire, and filled sweltering evenings with something to do that wasn’t television, movies, or bar-hopping.
These were family-friendly times. A kind of throw back to the 1950’s…or ‘20’s when your local nine was more important than any Big League outfit in some far-off city you might never get a chance to visit.
Heck, we lost the whole league last week. Our pain is multiplied in smaller cities where baseball was once the true national pastime and young kids in uniform were heroes to even younger kids with freckled faces and missing teeth, dreaming to be just like those big boys. Sign my baseball sir? Sir is glad to. At eighteen he’s as much caught up in the moment’s excitement as the ten-year-old standing before him.
We were promised a return in 2009. Won’t happen. One day there will be an announcement buried on page four of the DAILY BLATT AND BUGLE’S sports section that the league is gone forever, forced to close due to the perilous economics of the times.
Maybe someday. Maybe.
Macon Music has struck out.

One More Example of Why Mike Adams Is Such A Pain In The Ass To His University's Administration
Way To Go, Mike
Way To Go, Mike
But before I leave for my trip to UNC-Gomorrah, I want to share my latest bit of correspondence with the administration here at UNC-Webmasters (hereafter, UNCW). It should provide some insight into this interesting question: Which is the biggest problem in our universities today, a) Administrative Intolerance, or b) Administrative Incompetence?
You have to give Mike Adams credit for having the largest testicles in the world of what used to pass for ‘Higher Education’.
A professor (but not Full Professor of criminology) at UNC Wilmington, Adams stands out among his limp-wristed academic colleagues as a hard-hitting, often abrasive, pain in the glutes of college administrators everywhere.
Most of this column is taken up with a one-sided correspondence between Adams and Rosemary DePaolo, Chancellor of his university. :I say ‘one sided’ because that clay-footed administrator doesn’t respond to his requests to advertise a Christian speaker. Adams must be getting under her thick skin these days. He has ‘tenure’ meaning he can’t be fired for insubordination.
Great little piece. Gives us an insightful glimpse into the fractured concept of ‘free speech’ on today’s hidebound, politically correct universities. You will find it at The Chancellor’s Dog Ate My Homework
It appeared a few days back on Town Hall

Congressman Pete Hoekstra
Muslim Extremists Do Not and Cannot Understand
FREE SPEECH
Muslim Extremists Do Not and Cannot Understand
FREE SPEECH
Criticism of Islam, however, has led to violence and murder world-wide. Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa calling for Muslims to kill Salman Rushdie over his 1988 book, "The Satanic Verses." Although Mr. Rushdie has survived, two people associated with the book were stabbed, one fatally. The 2005 Danish editorial cartoons lampooning the prophet Muhammad led to numerous deaths. Dutch director Theodoor van Gogh was killed in 2004, several months after he made the film "Submission," which described violence against women in Islamic societies. Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a former Dutch member of parliament who wrote the script for "Submission," received death threats over the film and fled the country for the United States.
To the radical Islamist, ‘free speech’ is a dirty term. He doesn’t understand it, or any of our traditional Western freedoms, for that matter. Nor the long process involved in bringing something like most of the the Bill of Rights to Democratic nations across the globe.
Peter Hoekstra, born in the Netherlands, is the ranking Republican on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Mr. Hoekstra penned an opinion column for the Wall Street Journal this past week. He comments especially on the concept of free speech and how it is foreign to the hard core Muslim who prefers to live under Shariah Law just as his forebears did in the eighth century.
It is quite a piece, well worth our attention for it captures the contrast between one system and the other in light of Geert Wilders short Film, FITNA, discussed in this b’log twice already.
You may access Hoekstra’s essay at Islam and Free Speech
It was brought to our attention by the good folks at the American Congress for Truth.

Hillary's Fantasies Continue
Hillary's Fantasies Continue
These “embellishments” of Hillary’s biography are similar to those of Al Gore during his race in 2000. But her claims to foreign policy experience and domestic policy influence in the White House are far more important. Nobody ever questioned the experience of competence of the Vice President as he ran for the top job based on his decades of serving in federal office. But Hillary has had just seven rather uneventful years in the Senate (and she hasn’t shown up for the last year while she was campaigning for president.) We have to take Hillary’s word about what role she played in the Administration’s policy formulation. And her word has been increasingly disputed.
Dick Morris. On Hillary’s embellishments. Again.
This guy won’t let up, will; he? He seems to be relishing his ‘revenge’ on the former first lady. Suspect their enmity will follow them both beyond the grave.
This column is probably better written than most of the columns Morris has churned out lately, so vast* is his output, so much of his time is devoted to his role as pundit. Wonder what he will do to fill all that time after November’s general election?
Read it here Hillary’s Soccer Fantasy and ask yourself the all-important question: did Hillary make a good soccer mom>
Ciao

PIG-TAILED LIGHT BULBS
On Boulevard
PIG-TAILED LIGHT BULBS
For several months I have been replacing burned out 'traditional' light bulbs with those government mandated (ugh!) cork screw things that cost a week's pay and last, it is claimed, for years. They are both economical (in the long rung (or is it 'wrong'? and will husband our country's precious energy resources until we can conquer enough of the Middle East to bring the cost of energy down.
Great. I want to cooperate with the feds...and save money and already use as little power as possible. I also recycle (sometimes) and plough vegetable scraps and coffee grounds into the garden.
But I'm not sure about these new bulbs. They don't give off as much light as the old, incandescent variety. And they change the color spectrum in the apartment. Freshly prepared ood often looks not a little moldy, it is harder to see what I am putting on the checks I write, and, horror of horrors, in the the tiny bathroom it is impossible to tell from the color of the water whether the commode got flushed after the last leak.
Right now I have a garbage bag filled with the old-fashioned bulbs hanging in the garage, each packed carefully in layers of newspaper. One day after the federal mandate has emptied the stores of the older product, each of these little fellows should be wroth at least ten bucks on the black market.
Just call me 'Pusher." Some of you who are worried about the state of the Stock Market of late, might consider putting any leftover cash into bulbs.
Wonder if we could get more jail time for selling crack cocain?

Sonny Perdue Says 'No' To SUnday Sales
That Georgia sits athwart the buckle of the Bible Belt is no exaggeration.
The state is dominated by Baptists…Southern Baptists, White Baptists, Black Baptists, and Reformed Baptists, Baptists, Baptists everywhere and not a drink to drop.
Baptists, there are more than a hundred and thirty separate variants of them, and most of those are found right here in Georgia.
And most of them associate a social glass of vino with a hard drunken bout complete with delerium tremens and hangover in perpetuity.
Sonny Perdue, our governor, normally a pretty rational guy, is dead set against any form of local option Sunday Sales….and he says so here: The Tragic Cost of Sunday Alcohol Sales sounding just a bit too much of a tent preacher’s doing his thing by kerosene lanterns,
Sonny is wrong. Sonny is in error. I respect too much the office and man to say he is full of it.

BEWARE THE ADVISORS SURROUNDING HILLARY
BEWARE THE ADVISORS SURROUNDING HILLARY
The same team that freed hardened terrorists to win political markers for Hillary - the same team that's now willing to tear the Democratic Party apart in its desperate bid to steal the nomination for Hillary - would once again be empowered to free the guilty and endanger the innocent, whenever it suited their political needs.
Busy Beaver, Dick Morris, takes a look at the team of advisors that currently surrounds Mrs. CLinton, many of whom once surrounded her husband in the nineties. Not mentioned by name in the column, many of these names are nonetheless familiar as they served as attack jackals whenever Billary got his tail caught in a crack. And, according to Mr. Morris, they feel a kind of earned or unearned entitlement to another eight years quarterbacking the Presidency.
Horsecrapola, of course, these clowns are no more entitled than is Mrs. Clinton.
From this piece we learn something of the smarmy political machinations behind presidential pardons of convicted Puerto Rican terrorists in the days before 9/11. Amazing stuff.
Read it for yourself at: Team We Can’t Trust Then ask yourself the question, “Are these ‘advisors’ up to the task of advising a president of the United States?

GEERT WILDERS ANTI-QUORAN FILM
FITNA
NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE
FITNA
NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE
A week or so ago we called attention to a NYT profile of Dutch Politician and outspoken burr under the blanket of European Islamofascists, Geert Wilders. (Scroll down)
Mr. Wilders was waiting for distribution and showing of his fifteen minute film which ties murder, violence, and atrocity to the teachings found in the Quoran itself. Nobody in his home country would show the film, but just today it came online thanks to the Internet and is now available to everybody. Take fifteen minutes and watch FITNA *
I just now vied the thing. It is, perhaps, the most disturbing short film I have ever seen.
The difference between US (Westerners) and THEM (Muslims) is this: We view religion and state as two separate entities. To the Muslim they are one and the same. The state is governed only in accordance with the Quoran, not recognizing that much has changed in fourteen hundred years. That’s a long time to be cooking on camel dung and pounding the hot sands.
FITNA has just been pulled by the British web company, Live Leak, noted above. I did find it on YOU TUBE and can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCrCsTMokTU
We cannot let this pass from the WWW.

DICK MORRIS REPORTS ON
"Hillary's List of Lies"
"Hillary's List of Lies"
Why has McCain jumped out to a nine-point lead over Obama and a seven-point lead over Hillary in the latest Rasmussen poll? OK, Obama has had the Rev. Wright mess on his hands. And Hillary has come in for her share of negatives, like the Richardson endorsement of Obama and the denouement of her latest lie — that she endured sniper fire during a trip to Bosnia. But why has McCain gained so much in so short a period of time? Most polls had the general election tied two weeks ago.
Here is a neat little Dick Morris offering called, simply, Hillary’s List of Lies
He starts of listing the candidates falsehoods she has already admitted to. He then goes on to detail lies she has never acknowledged as such. It’s quite long. Some of them go way back to her days as First Lady.
Taken together they tell a story, a somewhat sordid yet sad tale of a bad character flaw Mrs. Clinton seems unable to shake.
There is much more to the column but that should whet your appetite, ae we continue to watch the unfolding nemesis, a fall from both grace and viability, that is the real story of a presidential campaign gone bad.

Speaking Of Little Old Ladies.....
This just came into my mailbox a few minutes ago. It is a hilarious story from a friend in Norway.
In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand. He approached her and asked, 'Mrs. Jones, do you know me?' She responded, 'Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a boy, and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot when you haven't the brains to realize you'll never amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you.'
The lawyer was stunned. Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, 'Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?'
She again replied, 'Why yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a
youngster, too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone, and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him.'
The defense attorney nearly died.
The judge asked both counselors to approach the bench and, in a very quiet voice, said,
'If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I'll send you both to the electric chair.'

SILENCE FROM COUNCILMAN ERIC ERICKSON
Does He Really Hate Senior Citizens?
Does He Really Hate Senior Citizens?
An article written here a few days ago titled CITY COUNCILOR ERIC ERICKSON
RAMPS IT UP AGAINST SENIOR CITIZENS (scroll down) has brought in a flood of email.
In the piece thirty-two-year-old Macon City Council member was chided for making derisive, snide comments about Senior Citizens.
The most frequent question asked has been, "Did Ericson ever comment about your article? Did he explain himself to you?"
The answer is a resounding 'NO'!!!
Apparently Mr. Erickson has chosen to ignore the charges and is taking the usual politician's (read 'cowardly) tactic of pretending to be aloof, above the fray, as it were, perhaps too busy 'doing the people's business', echoing thus Mr. Clinton's attempt to avoid impeachment and get back to fun and cigars in the Oval Office.
I don't know what Erickson is thinking. I do know that at least twice in recent weeks he has insulted a generation of Americans whose contributions have made ours the Nation many would like her to be.
The point might be made once again that Mr. Ericson, ranked as this country's sixty-ninth most influential conservative, is a better pundit/blogger than he is an actual, sho'nuff, Birkenstocks-on-the-pavement politician.

FROM THE JPFO
A FREE SPEECH
FIRST AMENDMENT CASE
A FREE SPEECH
FIRST AMENDMENT CASE
Here are two important links from our friends at the JPFO (Jews for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership) that came in only late this afternoon.
It deals with a potential First Amendment Case which will probably be heard by the SUPREME COURT at the end of the week. A chap named Rick Stanley has been jailed for six years for threatening, in court, to sue two judges. He was already on a terrorist watch and had run afoul of a local gun law subsequently struck down as unconstitutional.
From what I gather from these two links (below) the guy was railroaded by some vindictive judges who used their vast power to jail the poor guy quite illegally.
The Links:
1. http://www.jpfo.org/articles-assd/rick-stanley.htm A concise write-up about the case
2. http://youtube.com/watch?v=qn3_2eIQ684 a statement by stanley’s lawyer made for You Tube. Have to say it is refreshing to see a lawyer working in a T-Shirt.

LITTLE BOXES
Long before there was "Weeds" on SHowtime, there was Malvina Reynolds, song-writer, folk singer, critic of society.
Her reaction to what she saw as an increasingly conformist, coercive society was to write LITTLE BOXES way back in the fifties.
There are hundreds versions of this folk-ish song. This is the original. We published the lyrics oncve upon a time, before there was Thou Tube.
Wonder what she'd be writing if she lived in the era of the Islamofascist Terrorist and the American Neocon?

DICK MORRIS:
ANOTHER HILLARY FALSEHOOD
ANOTHER HILLARY FALSEHOOD
She said that Chelsea was jogging around the World Trade Center on 9/11 and happened to duck into a coffee shop when the airplanes hit. She said that this move saved Chelsea's life. But Chelsea told Talk magazine that she was in a friend's apartment four miles from ground zero when the first plane hit. Her friend called her, waking her up, and told her to turn on the TV. On television, she saw the second plane hit, disproving Hillary's claim that "she heard the plane hit. She heard it. She did."
Dick Morris gives us a glimpse into the mind of Hillary Clinton, the candidate who can make up a believable lie in the middle of a speech or interview.
The piece is short and sweet. In Hillary’s Other Fabrication
It appeared this morning on NEWSMAX and will be all over the ‘Net before noon.

JOHN STOSSEL ON
CRIMINALIZING CHILDREN WHO 'HAVE SEX'
CRIMINALIZING CHILDREN WHO 'HAVE SEX'
Klein says, "We trust 15-year-olds to make decisions all the time. We give them access to credit cards. We let 16- and 17-year-olds drive cars. The idea that somebody who's behind the wheel of a car can't make good sexual decisions, I think, is more about our anxiety about sex than it is about any clear thinking about 17-year-olds."
I am a big John Stossel fan. He is the lone reporter/pundit who swims upstream against the knee-jerk liberalism of the rest of ABC News.
Here he takes on the thorny problem of teenagers having sex and the question of what is the proper ‘age of consent’ for youthful, randy, hormonal behavior.
What’s happening across these fruited plains is that kids, seventeen-year-old and younger, are being arrested and charged with statutory rape and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The minor is fifteen, maybe fourteen. The ‘couple’ is a pair of children lust doin’ what comes naturally.
The question raised? Why punish a teen with a lifetime of being listed on a sexual criminal list? “Save it for marriage”, like “I don’t want my kid exposed to sex education in school, I’ll do it myself” SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK. No amount of legislation will prevent teen (or pre-teen) sex and sexual experimentation when the kid is surrounded on all sides by an emphasis on sex promoted by the entertainment industry, advertising, and society’s casual approach to the same.
Great column. It is based on a 20/20 show Stossel put together a few weeks ago. He does not offer us any simplistic answers to a very complex question.
It was found in this morning’s Town Hall and can be accessed directly at Law Can’t Prevent Under Age Sex

The following clip from the AJC was sent in by Vic Jones, Macon's number one Factotum, blogger, all around good guy, and major pain in the gluteus maximus to the good folks at GDOT. It appears that all is not well with the Georgiaq Department of Transportation which has bitten off more than it can chew and seems to be having organization problems. Read on:

Overextended DOT plans to ax projects
By Ariel Hart
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 03/25/08
Macon —- Georgia is about to undertake some painful project-cutting to fit its transportation program to its budget, state Department of Transportation Commissioner Gena Abraham told her board Monday as they met at a retreat in Macon.
A department that in reality has the money to work on about 270 projects a year has 1,470 active ones on its books and more than 9,000 planned, she said.
"We're going to have to talk about projects coming off our books," she said. "There's no other way around it."
The agency already has begun dealing with unhappy local officials as it faces shortfalls in the relatively small State Aid program, which pays for projects like paving dirt roads. The comments came in a day of wide-ranging discussion about Abraham's full-speed-ahead reorganization of DOT, and there were some fireworks.
A reason for the retreat was board members' negative reaction to finding out she'd hired a chief operating officer. The three highest officials under the DOT commissioner have traditionally been the deputy commissioner, the chief engineer and the treasurer, all of whom the board approves by law.
"I am weary of decisions being made and then after the decision being made coming in and asking me to support it," said Larry Walker, adding that he may not disagree with the hiring decision itself. Abraham said that was her mistake,
and the board Monday passed a resolution in support of her reorganizing.
Board member David Doss voted against the resolution and also voiced misgivings about whether Abraham plans to move part of toll-project planning from DOT, where major decisions are made by a 13-member board elected by legislators from across the state, to the State Road and Tollway Authority, whose five-member board is chaired by the governor and not elected. Abraham said she "hadn't got that far."
A related issue was public-private projects, in which private companies invest in public toll roads. Abraham said she is re-evaluating DOT's plans for such projects. Board members have criticized the projects in metro Atlanta as patchwork and not comprehensive. Part of Abraham's plan is to hire new staff to oversee the program.
Since taking the helm at DOT, Abraham has explained the plan in speeches, saying that "to be frank about it, no one in the organization but the person you're looking at has ever done a public-private partnership."
Between that and the fact that no one at DOT was dedicated full time to the program, she said at the Atlanta Regional Commission in January, "I feel really uncomfortable getting us into a multibillion dollar negotiation until we're ready."

THE TRAGIC TRUTH BEHIND
"I Remember Landing Under Sniper Fire"
"I Remember Landing Under Sniper Fire"
It’s not being mentioned in the Mainstream media, nor is it even whispered through the b’logosphere.
But the truth, however painful to Mrs. Clinton and her campaign, must be told. The future of these United States is at stake.
It is well known that Clinton told the story of landing in war-torn Bosnia “under sniper fire’ during her husband’s administration. CBS, which had video tape of the event, proved that nothing so dramatic ever took place. She landed and was greeted by some well-scrubbed children. That was it. No enemy gunfire, no danger, no running inside with her head down.
That old bug bear Conventional Wisdom, tells us that Hillary just plain lied to make her eight years as First Lady appear to give her an experiential edge in her race for the Oval Office. She is currently being attacked on all sides for alleged dishonesty.
But the truth is very different. We need to consider the woman’s age. Our sources claim she was born on October 26, 1947. That would make her over sixty years old at this point in time. She falls well into that generation birthed following World War Two known as ‘Boomers’ or ‘Baby Boomers’, a generation fast becoming a drain on our Social Security system.
Beginning about age fifty-five on the average, many older people begin to suffer frequent memory loss. For some this is the onset of a terrible condition known as Alzheimer’s or Alzheimer’s Disease, in which the individual’s brain functions deteriorate leading to eventual loss of all recognition of familiar persons and places and, finally, a slow death in total mental darkness. As Baby Boomers age, the incidence of Alzheimer’s is increasing nation-wide dramatically.
This is possibly the real reason behind Ms Clinton’s faux recollection of landing in Bosnia under sniper fire and the banal reality of the non-event. Her brain functions are now beginning to fail. Soon she may become unable to remember significant events and persons from her past, persons like Monica Lewinsky, Genifer Flowers, and Vince Foster. It is a sad, sad turn of the screw for this once great and powerful woman.
The truth behind her visit to Bosnia was that she was simply being a good, Mamie Eisenhower kind of first lady, one who cut ribbons at shopping malls, visited children’s hospitals, and shared tea with the wives of American supported dictators across the globe.

CHUCK NORRIS IN TOWN HALL
YES, THAT CHUCK NORRIS
YES, THAT CHUCK NORRIS
Everybody knows Chuck Norris, the squeaky clean action figure who spent decades stomping bad guys with his feet, mostly.
Since accompanying Governor Huckabee on the campaign trail, Mr. Norris has turned into something of a pundit and writes an occasional Town Hall column. This is one such.
Being the good Jeffersonian that he is, Chuck quotes that Founding Father several times in an article entitled GUNS, GOD, and GAYS in which he begins, “Reading the news this past week, one easily could conclude we have lost our minds, as well as any remaining connection with our Founding Fathers. There were three stories that thrice prove we are heading down three wrong roads.”
His triplets are: (1) The Heller v D.C. case argued just last week before the Supreme Court; (2) A salacious cartoon in the UVa newspaper depicting God and Mary in bed together; (3) a DOS (Day of Silence) in thousands of schools across the land promoting the homosexual lifestyle.
In each case Chuck cites Jefferson….here’s one quote on problem number three, a Jeffersonian proposal for a law, “"Whosoever shall be guilty of Rape, Polygamy, or Sodomy with man or woman shall be punished, if a man, by castration, if a woman, by cutting thro' the cartilage of her nose a hole of one half inch diameter at the least." Our action hero thought this idea not a little extreme.
I did check out a link in the article to a list of schools across the U.S. participating in DOS. California seems to lead the pack. There were sixteen schools signed up in Georgia, but seven have pulled out. None, for locals, was found in Bibb County.
I found the piece interesting, although formulaic and not a little trite. Chuck’s prose needs massaging, methinks, he needs to work on a more compelling writing style.
But, on the other hand, this is probably the real Chuck Norris, a larger-than-life American still going after bad guys, even if his readers can’t always agree that that they are the real bad guys.

ALERT FROM THE JPFO
WHAT WILL THE SUPREME COURT DO
WHAT WILL THE SUPREME COURT DO
Those who have spent any time in this site know that I am a firm supporter of the American citizen's right to keep and bear arms. You might also know that I support several pro gun groups including the NRA (National Rifle Association), the GCO (Georgia Carry Organization, and the JPFO (Jews for the Preservation of Firearms ownership). Each of these has a very diferent approach to the question and philosophy.
JPFO is the most hawkish of the three. They take an aggressive stance on behalf of all our liberties and believe firmly that one of the government's ultimate goals is to disarm the citizenry.
Please read through today's 'Alert' from this fine group of fellows. It contains some important links to the question of what will the Supreme Court do in the Heller case? There has been a tendency to think all is well with the Court and our gun rights. It's not. The JPFO feels strongly that we must not let our guard down in this all important matter. Read on:

JUST IN FROM RIVERSIDE RED
FORD v. TOYOTA
in a canoe race
FORD v. TOYOTA
in a canoe race
This gem is both funny and sad. It is also right on the mark.our thanks to Riverside Red for sharing.
A Japanese company ( Toyota ) and an American company (Ford) decided to have a canoe race on the Ohio River. Both teams practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race.
On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile.
The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the
reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action.
Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person rowing.
Feeling a deeper study was in order, American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion.
They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing.
Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team's management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager and 1 rower.
They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the 'Rowing Team Quality First Program,' WI th meetings, dinners and free pens for the rower. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses.
The next year the Japanese won by two miles.
Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor performance, halted devel opment of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year's racing team was out-sourced to India ..
Sadly, The End.
EPILOGUE: Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US , claiming they can't make money paying American wages whileToyota has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside the US .
Here are last quarter's results:
Toyota made $4 billion in profits.
Ford had $9 billion in losses.
Ford folks are still scratching their heads.
IF THIS WERE NOT TRUE, IT MIGHT BE FUNNY!!!

MIKE ADAMS
NO DEBATE IN WILMINGTON
Quashing Christians
NO DEBATE IN WILMINGTON
Quashing Christians
BIG>And I think I understand why the university will not help us in our efforts to advertise a talk by Frank Turek. In an age of political correctness there is no greater fear than that somewhere, somehow, someone may be offended. And they are probably correct (not just politically, but factually) to assume that most atheists will be offended by the very title of Frank Turek’s speech.
This need to protect atheists from hurt feelings may lead some to believe that they don’t make atheists like they used to. But I know from experience that the correlation between faith and fear has always been significant, strong, and inverse.
Athiesm v Christianity on the modern University campus.
Mike Adams for the Christians….but who will speak for the Atheist?
This is one of the best Adams’ columns I have read in a long time. It starts off with a peek at a Sociology course wherein there is no apparent balance between Atheism and lowly Christianity and goes on to explain why University Officialdom would not allow a campus wide debate debate between Christians and Atheists. Atheists, you see, are OK; Christians are not.
You might imagine from my point of view I would welcome the quashing of Christians, being that I live surrounded by devout thumpers of the Bible kind. I don’t. I am not one of those ‘angry at God’ atheists Adams refers to in the piece. I am very much for dialogue and tolerance.
This is well worth your time, be you the parent of a kid in college, religious, a doubter, or a non-believer. You can find the column at Is Atheism Only A Bundle of Sentiments
The piece was found in this morning’s Town Hall

DICK MORRIS
Mrs. Clinton Had No Part in the Irish Peace Process
Mrs. Clinton Had No Part in the Irish Peace Process
"I don’t know there was much she did apart from accompanying Bill [Clinton] going around," Her recent statements about being deeply involved were merely "the sort of thing people put in their canvassing leaflets" during elections. "She visited when things were happening, saw what was going on, she can certainly say it was part of her experience. I don’t want to rain on the thing for her but being a cheerleader for something is slightly different from being a principal player.”
Candidate Clinton has long maintained that she stood shoulder to shoulder with her president husband and took a major role in the brokered peace agreement that ended the hostilities in Northern Ireland.
More campaign ca-ca. Her role was nothing of the sort.
Dick Morris citing the facts chapter and verse denies that any such involvement took place. It's a delicious angle and you can read it all at Hillary's Irish Peace Fantasy
Good stuff!!!

EASTER
Happy Easter.
And I say that sincerely even as a non-believer.
While I freely admit my deeply-held atheism, I have never felt the need to change others’ religious views or to proselytize my own. It is a kind of ‘live and let live’ philosophy.
Oh, I love a good argument-discussion on religion, but that is not always possible here in the buckle of the Bible Belt where Scripture, no matter how illogical, how outdated, how absolutely wrong is regarded as nothing less than the true word of God. “I made up my mind when I was six and haven’t budged an inch since.”
But to wish somebody ‘Happy Easter’, or ‘Merry Christmas’ has nothing to do with faith or belief, for me, anyway. It is simply a way to acknowledge another human being and to bring him a little joy.
Besides there is something wonderfully traditional in the high Christian holidays. We celebrated them in my childhood, even went to midnight communion in Saint Peter’s Episcopal way back when. It’s not that my family was particularly religious, but church-going was a regular thing among the generation of my parents. They were not, however, rabid about it.
I have never liked the trend in modern churches to bring Kum-Bay-Ah to the chancel. Give me the old hymns, British and German especially, that let you test your vocal chords alongside others doing the same. That you are out of tune or tempo matters not, so is almost everybody else.
In Macon we anticipate a gorgeous day, filled with life and abundance. In a minute I will begin the long cooking process. Have friends coming for an all the trimmings luncheon, followed by another big meal early in the evening for family. Work? Yes. But enjoyable. Cooking is all about planning and organization. If we get frazzled preparing a big meal, it ain’t worth it. Might as well serve Marie Callender and stay daisy fresh.
Happy Easter, all. If I come back to the b’log today it will be later than late, and so it’s probability is close to zero.
Don’t do anything stupid or careless so as to deprive your loved ones of yourself.
Ciao!!!

MACON'S
Cherry Blossom Festival
Cherry Blossom Festival
This week kicks off Macon’s 247th. Annual Cherry Blossom Festival .
OK, a bit o’ hyperbole. The thing is in its twenty-sixth year and going strong.
Macon, you see, is flooded with cherry trees from Japan. Not the kind that produce fruit, just very pretty to look at pink and all, blossoming for a couple of weeks usually in March. Makes quite a sight. Almost as much fun to look at as the tourists who haunt certain cherry tree-laced boulevards, taking pictures, oohing and ahing, tying up traffic. We don’t care, these guys bring some bucks into our cash-strapped community.
Now, personally I hate the color pink. It goes back to my teen years when we testosterone-fueled guys assumed that any dude who wore pink belong to what we called ‘the limp-wrist crowd’, We didn’t know about kick-your-ass gay football players way back then. But sadly, pink is in during the festival. It’s OK on women, I guess, but the visitor will see lots of men sporting pink sports jackets. Most of them are official members of the governing board of Cherry Blossom officialdom, but beware imitators also in pink pretending to be part of the ruling cabal. The real ones have badges to go with their pink attire.
The Cherry Blossom tends to attract a somewhat geriatric crowd. There was a time not long ago when we could see fleets of tour busses disgorging hundreds of near octogenarians (that aged citizen City Councilman Eric Erickson likes so much) onto our streets to parade slowly and with much dignity with walker and cane and wheel chair making their way around Macon’s storied downtown.
I know from first-hand experience these Senior Citizens don’t spend a great deal on alcohol and nightlife. But they do wonders for any business that sells Geritol, Depends, and Centrum C. When Rob and I had our club/bar/restaurant on Cherry Street in the nineties, we picked up a little lunch business from rogue Cherry Blossomers, but the vast majority seemed to eat in cafeteria-like places where there was a tie-in with tour companies and bus drivers. Most, it would appear, of our visitors shun all manner of demon rum.
Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy Cherry Blossom. There is much to do for both the visitor and the resident. Stages in Central City Park feature day-long entertainment provided by phalanxes of lisping children, cloggers, baton twirlers, rappers, local singers and dancers on their way to nowhere, and an occasional five thumbed magician. The audience is respectful as a rule made up largely of stage mom wannabes pushing Suzie or Shawn into one more little giglet. Somebody also provides free cherry ice cream at lunch time in the Third Street park. Great if you don’t mind waiting in a long line dominated by bratty kids and clueless moms.
There is usually organized entertainment at night. Our few surviving nightclubs do pretty well. Church music abounds, as you might expect in city boasting more churches per capita than any other in the nation. But the age of most of our visitors forces most to bed at an early hour so they can wake up to the expectation of a brand new dawn commencing with a bowl of prunes and a large glass of Metamucil.
I don’t have anything against old people, please. I fall into that age group myself.
One of the positive things about Cherry Blossom is that Macon becomes a city without crime, homeless people, gang activity, and panhandlers. You won’t read about any criminal or anti-social behavior in the local Newspaper which is called The Macon Telegraph usually, or THE DAILY BLATT AND BUGLE. The editors over there seem to have taken an oath not to publish any news during Cherry Blossom that might cast the city in a bad light. The visitor’s safety is assured. You can take that to any bank which isn’t being robbed by some smarmy character in a masque and hoodie. .
SO, come on down. And besides, we really do need the money. Local politicians are taxing and spending us to death. Every cent you drop means one less penny the hapless local has to contribute to the excesses of the Macon City Council, known locally as ‘The Gang of Fifteen’.

Right out of this week's BOORTZ BLAST
When Joe found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed a woman to enjoy it with.
So, one evening he went to a singles bar where he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her natural beauty took his breath away.
"I may look like just an ordinary man," he said as he walked up to her, "but in just a few years, my father will die, and I'll inherit 20 million dollars."
Impressed, the woman went home with him that evening and, three days later, she became his Stepmother.
Women are so much better at estate planning than men.

MEET GEERT WILDERS
Outspoken Dutch Critic of Islam
Outspoken Dutch Critic of Islam
Don’t know him, but I like this Dutch conservative very much.
He is Geert Wilders, political leader, sometime filmmaker, outspoken foe of Islam, flamboyant dresser, whose life is a constant upstream paddle against the forces of creeping Islamification of his country and the suffocating blanket of political correctness that is the norm these days in Europe.
Here is a link to a New York Times profile of the chap. He is planning to release on the ‘Net a film which will most likely produce the same kind of radical reaction from our peaceful followers of the Koran as happened with the publication of the twelve Danish cartoons (scroll down).
Geert Wilders is the sort of person who gives us a little hope that all thinking is not yet lost in the Europe of the Twenty-first century.

Dick Morris:
Hillary Clinton's White House Years
No Time of Triumph
Hillary Clinton's White House Years
No Time of Triumph
But Bill Clinton saw his loss of Congress as owing to Hillary's policies and ideas. He felt that his presidency had been captured by a liberal phalanx that included the first lady and such staffers as George Stephanopoulos and Harold Ickes. He realized the need to move to the center and exiled Hillary from the White House, asking her to mix the largely ceremonial duties of her "job" with writing, speaking and policy advocacy. Her key role in the White House was a thing of the past - and remained so through all of 1995, 1996 and 1997.
Dick Morris ought to know. He was there, a White House insider. Now he has traded in his insider’s hat for that of pundit and tells us plainly that Hillary’s years in the White House were pretty much of an inconsequential thing.
She started off like a house afire, but when her health care bill failed, the Republicans won the House in 1994. Hillary was exiled to the kind of First-Lady status enjoyed by Mamie Eisenhower. She only returned to the cat-bird seat to lead the public defense when the Lewinsky affair surfaced. And that was that.
Mr. Morris fleshes out the details in Heavy Hitter? Not Hillary!!! which first appeared in the N.Y. Post.
Morris sure doesn’t like Senator Clinton much, does he?

Over The Rivers and Up In Chi Town To Grandmother's House We Go
Over The Rivers and Up In Chi Town To Grandmother's House We Go
I don't claim to know Obama's grandmother and am in no position to judge her racial sentiments. But it does seem to an outsider that Obama's judgment upon his grandmother is as harsh as his tolerance of Wright is benign. It isn't as if he was raised in Trinity Baptist Church. He chose it as an adult. He chose those sermons he now calls "incendiary" and "inexcusable." He says now that Wright misses the dynamism of American society, yet when it came time to decide where his daughters would attend church, he chose Trinity, where they would "learn" that the U.S. government concocted the AIDS virus to wipe out the African-American population, that the U.S. would "plant" WMDs in Iraq, and that blacks harming other blacks are "fighting the wrong enemy." A beautifully delivered speech cannot overcome that history.
Poor Grandma. Obama’s Grandma, anyway. Poor lady. Poor thing. Poor White Grandma.
Here comes Mona Charon hard on the heels of Ann Coulter’s “Throw Grandma Under The Bus” (Scroll down a day or so) with her take on Obama’s now famous recent speech in Throwing Grandma Over The Side
Mona is a talented writer and a solid pundit. I got a slightly different slant on Obama’s intent from this column.
It appeared on this morning’s Town Hall

A SPEECH AT GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY
Life Under Radical Islam
Life Under Radical Islam
What deeper attack on civilization, freedom, the mind, and human life could be possible than to propose the establishment of thought crimes in an American university? His was the voice of a dark-age Nazi brownshirt longing for the day when he can destroy those who vocalize ideas that make it difficult for him to evade the irrational nature of his whims. Who is it that should be empowered to peruse articles and determine which ones constitute crimes? The thug made that very clear. Unfortunately, with but one exception, the Muslims in the audience did not say anything against him.
For a taste of what develops when people like the ones I faced have their way, read this article about a university lecturer in Iran who was sentenced to death in Iran for the “crime” of polling Iranians about their attitudes towards America. This is the real meaning of Islamic law: the destruction of the mind, and death to those who use their minds.
Here is a great little article by John Lewis brought to us by the great folks over at ACT…The American Congress for Truth.
Lewis recently gave a speech at Georgia State University and here he (1) describes certain re-actions to his talk and (2) points out clearly how life under an Islamic regime would be absolutely intolerable by any of our standards.
Excellent work with considerable insight!! Read it at: Islamic States and Thought Crimes: The Thug's Ideal
It is, dear folks, high time we ALL wake up to the threat to our fragile Western democracies the creeping cancer of radical Islam represents.

THIS JUST IN FROM BIN LADEN
REMEMBERING ALL THOSE DANISH CARTOONS
REMEMBERING ALL THOSE DANISH CARTOONS
A new audio tape has surfaced purporting to be from Bin Laden coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the Iraq War.
It doesn’t mention Iraq.
It does, however, direct anger against Europeans who published the twelve, now-famous Danish cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed. Muslims are upset with any graphic picturing of the founder of their religion.
Here is a link to one aricle referenced by Breitbart on the subject: Bin Laden Slams EU Over Prophet Cartoons
As some of you know, we have published all twelve of the cartoons on this b’log. Haven’t gotten too many death threats, not yet anyway. A little hate mail, of course, most of it from relatives who think I’m a damned fool in the first place. Besides, they are Yankees, mostly, and have never understood my conversion to ‘Southern’.
If you would like to view all twelve, go to the ARCHIVES section of this b’log and click February ’06. Then scroll down to Feb. 7th and read ALL TWELVE DANISH CARTOONS IN ONE PLACE hit MORE and there they are in all their innocuous glory. My favorite is Mohammed with a bomb for a turban.
And if Bin Laden is reading this, take a good look at the cartoons. Then come to my house. We will share a pork roast, you can drink some fine wine, and we will discuss the entire matter in peace and brotherhood.
PS. Osama, please leave your AK-47 at home. We don’t allow non-Americans to possess fully automatic weapons, and we don’t want to break any laws, do we?

SACRIFICING HIS POOR OLD GRANDMA
SACRIFICING HIS POOR OLD GRANDMA
Imagine a white pastor saying: "Racism is the American way. Racism is how this country was founded, and how this country is still run. ... We believe in white supremacy and black inferiority. And believe it more than we believe in God."
Imagine a white pastor calling Condoleezza Rice, "Condoskeezza Rice."
Good Old Ann Coulter.
The acerbic blond smart-bomb weighs in on Obama’s speech earlier this week. And a weighty weigh it be.
She pokes holes in the accuracy of several of the Senator’s points with devastating precision. Of particular note, I think, is the comparison she draws between Reverend Wright, Obama’s hand-picked spiritual ‘mentor’ and the little old white grandmother who raised him, sent him to school, and sacrificed for him when he was a little boy.
This is an excellent column. It came as a separate e-mail yesterday and appeared on Town Hall this morning.
Read it for yourself at Throw Grandma Under the Bus It is well worth your time.

AND NOW WE ARE FOUR
He was only a cat, but we lost a family member this morning.
Pollux, one of the Ganymede Twins who moved in a year and a half ago along with his brother Castor, was hit and killed a block from our house.
A kind neighbor called with the bad news and I was able to get to my little friend scooping him up before Detroit steel corrupted his feline elegance beyond all recognition. Pollux was buried in the garden with only the ceremony being a tear in the corner of this old eye.
The four remaining cats have been very quiet all day. Can a cat be introspective? Do the mourn the loss of a loved one? I don’t know, and it may be my imagination, but the sad experience seems to have drawn us closer.
The death of a pet should not be compared with the loss of a beloved family member or human friend. But it is a loss. In the seven years at this address I have lost four pets….two dogs and two cats. The cats to automobiles, the dogs to lethal injection. Each passing has left a tiny hole in my heart to be sure, but also wonderful memories of loving companionship as well.
The best dog who ever owned me was a chap named Bubba whose web page can still be viewed six years after a Vet ended his cancer-ravaged life. His epitaph was written by a character named Okefenokee Joe about the passing of a beloved pet,
”He was my friend. With one or two exceptions, he was the best friend I ever had. You can still view Bubba’s Kernnel Page and learn a little about the Black Labrador who now sits gentle on my mind.
Pollux, too, was my friend. He was a damned good cat. I am grateful that he thrust himself on me and that I could give him eighteen or nineteen months of quality life.
Ave atque vale, amice, ave atque vale.

THE REVEREND WRIGHT FLAPADOODLE WILL BE SHORT LIVED
THE REVEREND WRIGHT FLAPADOODLE WILL BE SHORT LIVED
” What Obama needs not to do is to resort to the kind of Clintonian fudging that animated his interview with Keith Olbermann. By saying “I wasn't there” and “I didn't know” and “I didn't hear him say it,” he will invite contempt and derision. If he were to continue in that vein, he would buy himself a controversy akin to that which drowned John Kerry in the facts and allegations of his service in Vietnam. People will surface to say, “I sat next to him, and Wright said such and such,” and Obama will be hostage to everybody's subjective memory.”
Dick Morris takes a look at the Rev. Wright flap and Obama’s speech of last night and concludes the affair will soon become a none-thing. The Senator, you see, will take the high road and point out that the Reverend represents the past of American Blackness while he, a unifier, is the future.
It is a pretty good article, but, I think, a little naïve. Hillary is still a factor, a huge factor, in the nominating process and she will not go gentle into that good night. Morris is so anxious for Mrs. Clinton’s downfall that he sometimes misses the forest for the trees.
The race genie is out of the bottle and I do not think it will go away any time soon.
Read it for yourself here: Rev Wright Row Will Soon Pass It was included in a NEWSMAX mailing.

CITY COUNCILOR ERIC ERICKSON
RAMPS IT UP
AGAINST
SENIOR CITIZENS
RAMPS IT UP
AGAINST
SENIOR CITIZENS
What does Eric Erickson, pundit, b’logger, Macon City Councilor, and sixty-ninth most influential conservative in the entire United States have against Senior Citizens?
Twice now he has jammed his foot well into his oral orifice and made crude statements about those of us in our Golden Years.
First in plain view of the entire Gang of Fifteen, he proposed establishing an ethics oversight board that would have in it no ‘BLUE HAIRS’, referencing older women who only tie up his agenda to move proceedings along rapidly..
That was offensive enough. However, he outdid himself this morning while co-hosting 940 AM Radio’s Morning Talk Show with Ron Frazier. Said he of the need to put turning lanes along Forest Hill Drive to speed up traffic because it was slowed, in part, by ”LITTLE OLD PERSONS IN A LINCOLN TOWN CAR.”
Now I don’t have a Lincoln Town Car, but I fall well into the age group Mr. Erickson is complaining about. I do find such comments offensive to a large segment of society that has through years of hard work, toil, and sacrifice earned our respect.
You seem to be an impatient man, Mr. Erickson, obsessed, perhaps, with ‘speed’ and ‘expedition’. I always thought that conservatives were slow, determined, patient, deliberative, and careful….you know, the tortoise that wins the race besting the liberal Democrat who wants his way starting right now.
It may be that Erickson is a better political pundit than he is a politician. Knowledge of what is needed and an ability to analyze complex situations do not give any one person the right to single out a block of the citizenry for ridicule simply because he has reached the political pinnacle of the Macon City Council.
We vote in large numbers and our memories are long.
Just a thought from A KICK-ASS SENIOR CITIZEN. From East Macon.

THOMAS SOWELL
The Speech Obama Charmed Us With Yesterday
The Speech Obama Charmed Us With Yesterday
Yet the past continues to follow him, despite his attempts to bury it and the mainstream media's attempts to ignore it or apologize for it.
Shelby Steele depicts Barack Obama as a man without real convictions, "an iconic figure who neglected to become himself."
Here is the first salvo from a conservative, a Black conservative, on Obama’s speech of yesterday. The writer is the popular Thomas Sewell, economist and Fellow at the Hoover Institute, who must have hit his word processor almost as soon as the thing was over. And a damn good piece it is.
He starts with the premise, “The great unasked question for Senator Obama is the question that was asked about President Nixon during the Watergate scandal; What did he know and when did he know it?” And he goes on to show, step by step, how The Illinois Senator, with twenty-years’ experience inside Jeremiah Wright’s church, must have been fully aware of what his mentor preached and stood for.
Follow the powerful argument at: Obama’s Speech. It was found on this morning’s Town Hall

The following email just arrivved. Here are the impressions of GCO V.P. John Monroe of the arguments held before the United States Supreme Court just today. It is presented without addition or emendation.
Dear GCO Member,
GCO Vice President John Monroe watched the oral arguments in the United States Supreme Court today after spending the night on the sidewalk in 30 degree weather. He wanted to pass on his impressions to you, although he warned that he is foggy and sleepy after waiting outside all night. Interestingly, machine guns received a lot of discussion in a case not involving machine guns at all.

THE PURE BALL STRIKER
Here Is a New Product
THE PURE BALL STRIKER
This b’log does not accept either advertising or donations. The reason is obvious, I don’t want bucks to interfere with opinion as does with more commercial enterprises.
But once in a while I run into a concept or a product so unique or so attractive that it begs for a little free publicity.
Such is the PURE BALL STRIKER, a sports training device, that I knew nothing about until it came up in a street side conversation with a dog walking neighbor who happens to be the inventor and chief promoter of this product.
If you play golf, baseball, or softball….or have a kid who does, this might well be the perfect thing to gain that all important edge in your sport.
Here is Jeff Evan’s email to me following our chat. It contains an all-important link to his web site where the PURE BALL STRIKER is explained fully. Click on MORE and you can read endorsements on behalf of the PBS.
Me? My golfing and baseball days are many decades behind me, but I have a son who is athletic director and softball coach at SOUTH GEORGIA COLLEGE. Rob will be getting a copy of this entry (kid doesn’t always check his Old Man’s b’log) with an urgent message to check it out and pass it along to other AD’s.

Mike Adams Again
Kind of a Message of Faith
Kind of a Message of Faith
When I mentioned in a recent column that I was signing over 100% of any future royalties from my latest book to Pastor Jackson’s Hope 127 Project I received an unexpected torrent of hate mail. Many of those emails asked how I could possibly donate proceeds to a foreign charity instead of one here in the United States. What I have already said in this column explains the specific calling but it does not address the larger issue of choosing foreign over domestic charity.
Mike Adams is a devout Christian, I am an atheist. The good professor has given us here a kind of sermon, telling a fascinating tale about a clergyman from Africa selling his vehicle to pay for a plane ticket to The States to locate a small, struggling church in Wilmington, North Carolina. He had no real idea why he made the journey, the folks in Wilmington had an unexpected guest on their hands. And, for reasons unknown to this unbeliever, decided to donate ten percent of the church income to the African congregation. The real story begins here and it is fascinating.
I cannot accept Adam’s declaration of faith and belief in Jesus Christ, but surely do respect his views.
You can read the whole thing here: The Audacity Of Hope 127 and contrast it with yestersay’s column (scroll down) called The Audacity of Dope on a seemingly unrelated subject. The column was found this AM on Town Hall

A DEM DILEMMA
WHETHER THE
SUPERDELEGATES?????
WHETHER THE
SUPERDELEGATES?????
The latest delegate count posted on realclearpolitics.com shows that Hillary’s lead among super delegates, once a comfortable 60 votes, has now been cut almost in half to 36 delegates. The latest tally has Hillary leading among super delegates by 247 to 211. So, with 57 percent of the super delegates decided, Hillary’s lead is shrinking.
In a column written before the Jeremiah Wright flap topped the weekend’s news, Dick Morris had some interesting observations on the status of the Democratic Party’s super-delegates. In a nutshell they are Obama’s to win as much as Hillary’s to lose.
This is an iteresting column. Like the rest of the Morris output, this work is in much demand across the media and blogging sphere. It is short and to the point. Read it at Super Delegates Lining Up For Barack Obama.
Is it as true right now as they day the column was written? Probably not. The religion flap is opening some raw sores in O’s campaign….sores which need to be open lest the American People elect a leader they don’t have a clue about.

There have been some rumors floating around the internet suggesting I engaged in illegal drug use when I was a professional guitar player in the late1980s and early 1990s. I want to take the time to address these rumors because they are grossly inaccurate and unfair. To be specific, they are grossly inaccurate and unfair because they grossly underestimate my former involvement in illegal drug use.
In addition to smoking marijuana – sometimes laced with substances like PCP - for a number of years, I also experimented with drugs like hashish, powdered cocaine, LSD, and methamphetamines (including ecstasy). I regret my decision to use illegal drugs in my youth and I’m really sorry. Now that my past drug use is out of the way, let’s move on to Barack Obama.
So begins a Town Hall article by our favorite University Professor, Mike Adams which is one of his very best.
Laced with irony, sarcasm, logic, and understated truth the man goes on the attack. I won’t tell you more for to do so would undermine the pure delight to be mined from the piece.
Read it for yourself at The Audacity of Dope
And enjoy.

Letter From A Sweet Little Old Blue-Hair
Letter From A Sweet Little Old Blue-Hair
Got this wonderful email from a friend and reader in Europe. It was my first email of the morning and must be passed along to you readers.
Tell you the truth, it was cleaned up a little from the first time it made the rounds of internetdom.
Here she be:
This will warm your heart. Just when you have lost faith in human kindness.
Someone who teaches at a middle school in Safety Harbor, Florida, forwarded the following letter. The letter was sent to the Principal's office after the school had sponsored a luncheon for the elderly. An old lady received a new radio at the lunch as a door prize and was writing
to say thank you. This story is a credit to all humankind. Forward to anyone you know who might need a lift today.
BJ
*******************************************************
Dear Safety Harbor Middle School :
God bless you for the beautiful radio I won at your recent senior citizens luncheon. I am 84 years old and live at the Safety Harbor Assisted Home for the Aged. All of my family has passed away. I am all alone now and it's nice to know that someone is thinking of me. God
bless you for your kindness to an old forgotten lady.
My roommate is 95 and has always had her own radio, but before I received one,
she would never let me listen to hers, even when she was napping. The other day
her radio fell off the nightstand and broke into a lot of pieces. It was awful and she was in tears. She asked if she could listen to mine and I told her to kiss my ass.
Thank you for that opportunity...
Sincerely,
Mildred

SHOTS FIRED ON LAUREL
Or Somewhere Else Not Far From Here
Or Somewhere Else Not Far From Here
The call came at 2:30….PM, for a change, a nice comfortable time in the early afternoon when I was hard at work surrounding myself with the new and most excellent Metropolitan Opera production of PETER GRIMES, a brilliant, mid-twentieth century piece that requires tight concentration to enjoy.
“Don,” came the anxious woman’s voice on the other end of the connection, I just heard several shots fired. “ The caller lives about a block away on another street. She wasn’t sure of the direction they came from. “What should I do,” she asked calmly.”
“Call the police, stay inside with the kids, and check your Glock. I’ll take a walk around the block and knock on your door in about half an hour.”
I cheated….waited five minutes for the tape to run through so it could be flipped ….the production was so good although GPR’s reception was stinko, My recording technology is decades old….hell, still have a damn good collection of vinyl discs from the fifties and sixties, opera mostly, some of the finest performances ever recorded. Anybody remember 78RPM records…big twelve inchers whirling around at the sped of sound witrh deep grooves, sound pumped through a sharp needle that looked like it came from your mother’s sewing box?
Anyway, packed the rod, walked the walk and in less than thirty minutes knocked on the caller’s door. All was well. The police had already driven by and, apparently found nothing. Usually after a call is lodged with the PD we don’t get a response….be kinda nice if they did a follow-up. “We checked out the shots you reported, Mr. Smith, appears to have been a triple homicide at 848, just two doors down from you. We don’t have the killer in custody yet, he’s loose somewhere in your neighborhood, but thanks for the information. Have a nice day.” Something comforting like that. Keep the public.
Anyway, it was a quiet weekend in our section of East Macon….so far.

RUMBLE AT THE GEORGIA MUSIC HALL OF FAME
The headline in the ‘Local’ section of Saturday’s paper read: Three Arrested at Fight at Music Hall of Fame. The phone call said, “Don, come on downtown!!! There’s a riot going on at the Music Hall of Fame.”
I declined. It was 9:30 or so in the evening and as I get older the appeal of night life, even a good old fashioned street riot does not have the appeal it once did.
“I’ll sit this one out, thanks. Why don’t you tell me what’s going on?”
My caller, a well-know and substantial citizen and familiar figure among the surviving bars and clubs of Macon’s nightlife-starved downtown, had a bird’s-eye view of the Rumble in the Museum. He described ‘numerous’ MPD cars, lights flashing, Sheriff’s vehicles, and a couple of ambulances. The fight apparently started inside and spilled out into the street; three kids were charged and arrested. The total number of police cars was later reported to be almost three dozen.
The occasion of the melee was a teen birthday party, private; somebody had rented the GMHF for the evening, a custom which has more than once in the past decade bailed out the under-appreciated and under-used facility.
The T’GRAPH article (written by Ashley Tusan Joyner) suggested that there might have been (‘unconfirmed’) discharge of firearm(s) and gang activity. It doesn’t seem likely that more than thirty cop cars would show at a kid grouping where a game of Spin the Bottle had gone somehow awry.
The overwhelming police response tells my inner self there was certainly some foreshadowing, hints of violence to come, from somebody, somewhere long before the fun began. We know of sections of the city where residents tell me they can’t get a single police cruiser to a crime scene on a Saturday night.
Local TV news did not (to the best of my knowledge) cover the near-riot. Except for Channel thirteen, those guys generally seem to take the weekend off. We don’t know the name of the birthday honoree or the names of the parents ‘in charge’, a term used loosely. I guess modern parents need to hire bouncers and other manner of security to police their kids’ parties. Not long ago all it took was one determined Dad or Mom with a resonant voice and a well-deserved rep as a disciplinarian to keep any number of teenagers in line. Lots of those guys honed their leadership skills in the hedge-rows of Normandy and the coral atolls of the Pacific. The Army is a far cry from gaggles of homeboys roaming the ‘hood.
We won’t hear anything more about three-dozen cop cruiser party. Later this week I intend to ask the GMHF front desk to show me the names of whoever rented the hall Friday night last. Can't hurt to ask. If I find out anything more, it will be exposed here. Hate to see young thugs get slapped on the wrist without an audience, eh?
But, of course, we don't want to expose the sorry underbelly of Macon's night life. Not with Cherry Blossom approaching fast.

Dick Morris On
FERRARO PLAYS THE RACE CARD
FERRARO PLAYS THE RACE CARD
The blunt fact is that Geraldine Ferraro would not make a statement like this one without at least the tacit knowledge and acquiescence of the Clintons and their campaign. Ferraro is an old pro and would know enough not to shoot off her mouth without making it part of a carefully conceived strategy to discredit Obama based on race.
Haven’t posted much from Dick Morris this week.
And it’s not for lack of output on his part. He’s been a busy little guru. Maybe we can get at least one more up and running later today. “Through The Eyes of Dick Morris” will probably be a good title for a book which will undoubtedly hit the bestseller list late in the year, win, lose, or draw, in which somebody, Morris most likely, looks at the 2008 campaign from his unique perspective.
I do not agree entirely with this column, as very good as it is. Morris believes that Geraldine Ferraro was ordered to bring up Obama’s race this past week by the Clinton cadre. Maybe so, but Ferraro is a consummate pro who weighs her words with extreme care. The fact is that all of what seems strange to many of us about Obama the man, including his race and the many implications both good and bad it implies. Sorry. We cannot use the guise of smarmy political correctness to sweep everything possibly negative about the man's background under the linoleum.
Here it is for you to judge for yourself: Hillary Sends Ferraro After the Race Card This b’log would sure like hearing from its readers on this one.
Ciao. Tomorrow is Palm Sunday and the beginning of Easter week all of which is being overshadowed in American advertising by the emerald hues of green beer and sodden bashes associated with Saint Patrick’s Day.

TAKING THE GLOVES OFF
It’s time for the gloves to come off.
Come off, that is, in the matter ofr Barack Hussein Obama.
You know the guy, charismatic Democrat candidate for the Oval Office who has convinced the media not to use, or even mention, his rather interesting middle name.
The Candidate who is black, but whose race and its implications has been pretty much swept up under the rug by the pols, pundits, and pusillanimous pipsqueaks in the media.
Now comes the man’s religion. First we hear that he is a Muslim, then a Christian. Then we find out that his religious mentor is none other than Jeremiah Wright, an America hating rabble rouser who seems to preach a gospel of Up us, Down Whitey. Just what we need, more religious and racist bigotry rolled into one big, slimy ball.
How about Mrs. Obama….she, ir would seem, has only been proud of the United States once in her life….the day her husband won some primaries. Proud of America…race baiting….stir the puddin’ but don’t anybody dare say sometyhing negative.
Time to take the gloves off.
This web site is about to do just that.

I might have been the last person in the U.S. to hear this video clip. It arrived by email overnight. Heard it again on WMAC 940’s Morning Show with Shane McBryde and Ron Frazier.
The video is of a recent piece that ABC News did on Jeremiah Wright, the influential, long time (but recently retired) pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago which Barack Hussein Obama has called ‘home’ for twenty years now.
It is offered without comment at this time. But, please, there will be lots of comment in the very near future.

OLD MAN'S HEALTH UPDATE
After three days abed, this old body began to feel on the mend this morning. Even took a short walk and did a much needed laundry.
Nothing too strenuous, don't want a relapse. Much of the credit goes to some home-made (from scratch) chicken soup. "TAKE ONE WHOLE STEWING HEN......." made right here in my little old kitchen.
There's always something going around.
Have not put much time into b'logging, but maybe tonight.
And for all who asked, thanks for asking.
Ciao.

A SECOND ARREST IN NORTH CAROLINA
The Atlanta Journal Constitution carried a story this morning that a second suspect, seventeen-year-old Laurence Alvin Lovette, Jr. , has been arrested in the vicious, senseless murder of Eve Carson, student body president at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
He joins Demario James Atwater (twenty-one) held without bail for the coed’s brutal slaying.
Both ‘men’ (I use the word with reservation) were already on probation, having received judicial slaps on the wrist for crimes like breaking and entering and, in Atwater’s case, illegal possession of a firearm.
Possession of a handgun by a vicious criminal? No amount of ‘gun control’ would have saved Miss Carson. The little bastard had a weapon, knew how to load it and pull the trigger, and little else mattered to him in the wee early morning hours of the assault. Why was he not in prison for the earlier crime?
Had Miss Carson carried a firearm herself the result might have been different. Let the anti-gunners wring their little hands about a petite co-ed ‘packing’, but the result of the encounter with the two slime-balls could not have been any worse than it was, could it?
Says it all, I think.

THE HELLER CASE
The Roe v Wade of Gun Rights
Part Two
The Roe v Wade of Gun Rights
Part Two
There have been a handful of cases that have shaped America. Roe v. Wade, Dred Scott, Plessy v. Ferguson, Brown v. Board, and Marbury v. Madison are more than just history book entries; they actually changed the nation. For good or ill, District of Columbia v. Heller might join that list. It could become the Roe v. Wade of gun ownership.
Here is part two of a very important gun rights article the first half of which we posted last Thursday. (Link available in body of column.) Co-authored by Ken Blackwell and Sandy Froman, it presents an important historical perspective on what is likely to become a landmark decision, possibly changing the nature of American Society forever. Most of what we have read thus far discusses the legal ramifications of the Heller Case. It is good to get another important point of view.
You can read the essay here: The Roe v Wade of Gun Rights
It was part of this morning's newsletter.

Brigitte Gabriel
WAKE UP AMERICA
WAKE UP AMERICA
This came in late afternoon from Riverside Red. We have published it here before...but, like so many things of excellence, it is well worth repeating and giving serious thought to.
by Brigitte Gabriel, an expert on the Middle East conflict who lectures nationally and internationally on the subject. She's the former news anchor of World News for Middle East television and the founder of AmericanCongressforTruth.com.
We gather here today to share information and knowledge. Intelligence is not merely cold hard data about numerical strength or armament or disposition of military forces. The most important element of intelligence has to be understanding the mindset and intention of the enemy. The West has been wallowing in a state of ignorance and denial for thirty years as Muslim extremist perpetrated evil against innocent victims in the name of Allah.
I was ten years old when my home exploded around me, burying me under the rubble and leaving me to drink my blood to survive, as the perpetrators shouted, 'Allah Akbar!' My only crime was that I was a Christian living in a Christian town. At 10 years old, I learned the meaning of the word 'infidel.' I had a crash course in survival. Not in the Girl Scouts, but in a bomb shelter where I lived for seven years in pitch darkness, freezing cold, drinking stale water and eating grass to live. At the age of 13, I dressed in my burial clothes going to bed at night, waiting to be slaughtered. By the age of 20, I had buried most of my friends--killed by Muslims. We were not Americans living in New York , or Britons in London . We were Arab Christians living in Lebanon .
As a victim of Islamic terror, I was amazed when I saw Americans waking up on September 12, 2001, and asking themselves 'Why do they hate us?' The psychoanalyst experts were coming up with all sort of excuses as to what did we do to offend the Muslim World. But if America and the West were paying attention to the Middle East they would not have had to ask the question. Simply put, they hate us because we are defined in their eyes by one simple word: 'infidels.' Under the banner of Islam 'la, ilaha illa Allah, muhammad rasoulu Allah,' (None is god except Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah) they murdered Jewish children in Israel, massacred Christians in Lebanon, killed Copts in Egypt, Assyrians in Syria, Hindus in India, and expelled almost 900,000 Jews from Muslim lands. We Middle Eastern infidels paid the price then. Now infidels worldwide are paying the price for indifference and shortsightedness.
Tolerating evil is a crime. Appeasing murderers doesn't buy protection. It earns one disrespect and loathing in the enemy's eyes. Yet apathy is the weapon by which the West is committing suicide. Political correctness forms the shackles around our ankles, by which Islamists are leading us to our demise.
America and the West are doomed to failure in this war unless they stand up and identify the real enemy: Islam. You hear about Wahabbi and Salafi Islam as the only extreme form of Islam. All the other Muslims, supposedly, are wonderful moderates. Closer to the truth are the pictures of the irrational eruption of violence in reaction to the cartoons of Mohammed printed by a Danish newspaper. From burning embassies, to calls to butcher those who mock Islam, to warnings that the West be prepared for another holocaust, those pictures have given us a glimpse into the real face of the enemy. News pictures and video of these events represent a canvas of hate decorated by different nationalities who share one common ideology of hate, bigotry and intolerance derived from one source:
authentic Islam. An Islam that is awakening from centuries of slumber to re-ignite its wrath against the infidel and dominate the world. An Islam which has declared 'Intifada' on the West.
America and the West can no longer afford to lay in their lazy state of overweight ignorance. The consequences of this mental disease are starting to attack the body, and if they don't take the necessary steps now to control it, death will be knocking soon. If you want to understand the nature of the enemy we face, visualize a tapestry of snakes. They slither and they hiss, and they would eat each other alive, but they will unite in a hideous mass to achieve their common goal of imposing Islam on the world.
This is the ugly face of the enemy we are fighting. We are fighting a powerful ideology that is capable of altering basic human instincts. An ideology that can turn a mother into a launching pad of death. A perfect example is a recently elected Hamas official in the Palestinian Territories who raves in heavenly joy about sending her three sons to death and offering the ones who are still alive for the cause. It is an ideology that is capable of offering highly educated individuals such as doctors and lawyers far more joy in attaining death than any respect and stature re, life in society is ever capable of giving them.
The United States has been a prime target for radical Islamic hatred and terror. Every Friday, mosques in the Middle East ring with shrill prayers and monotonous chants calling death, destruction and damnation down on America and its people. The radical Islamist deeds have been as vile as their words. Since the Iran hostage crisis, more than three thousand Americans have died in a terror campaign almost unprecedented in its calculated cruelty along with thousands of other citizens worldwide. Even the Nazis did not turn their own children into human bombs, and then rejoice at their deaths as well the deaths of their victims. This intentional, indiscriminate and wholesale murder of innocent American citizens is justified and glorified in the name of Islam.
America cannot effectively defend itself in this war unless and until the American people understand the nature of the enemy that we face Even after 9/11 there are those who say that 'we must engage our terrorist enemies, that we must address their grievances.' Their grievance is our freedom of religion. Their grievance is our freedom of speech. Their grievance is our democratic process where the rule of law comes from the voices of many not that of just one prophet. It is the respect we instill in our children towards all religions. It is the equality we grant each other as human beings sharing a planet and striving to make the world a better place for all humanity. Their grievance is the kindness and respect a man shows a woman, the justice we practice as equals under the law, and the mercy we grant our enemy. Their grievance cannot be answered by an apology for who or what we are.
Our mediocre attitude of not confronting Islamic forces of bigotry and hatred wherever they raised their ugly head in the last 30 years, has empowered and strengthened our enemy to launch a full scale attack on the very freedoms we cherish in their effort to impose their values and way of life on our civilization.
If we don't wake up and challenge our Muslim community to take action against the terrorists within it, if we don't believe in ourselves as Americans and in the standards we should hold every patriotic American to, we are going to pay a price for our delusion. For the sake of our children and our country, we must wake up and take action. In the face of a torrent of hateful invective and terrorist murder, America's learning curve since the Iran hostage crisis is so shallow that it is almost flat. The longer we lay supine, the more difficult it will be to stand erect.

GAY AGENDA IN AN ILLINOIS CLASSROOM
GAY AGENDA IN AN ILLINOIS CLASSROOM
Deerfield High School in Deerfield, Illinois, recently assigned the pornographic book “Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes” to students as young as 14 as a required reading. Somehow they didn’t expect parents to be offended by its graphic sexuality and overt racism. But, of course, they were. And that is why I am proud to report that the school has decided to make the reading “optional” over-riding the gay teacher’s original intentions.
Here is one heck of a good read from Mike Adams, who gets off his sometimes elevated equine and charges into a controversy taking place in some Illinois’ classrooms about gay lit in the classroom.
Not ‘gay lit’ per se, but a particular bit of gay lit that appears, from reading the excerpts presented, way, way over the top for high school kids.
The column purports to be a ‘letter to Bill O’Reilly’ asking him to feature the school on an upcoming program.
I am not a prude by any stretch of anybody’s imagination. But I sure as hell would charge into a principal’s office unannounced to denounce this particular tome. I also think that kids should learn about sexuality….better from their parents than from agenda-driven schools…..and part of what they should be exposed to is gay sexuality. But, and this is the point, gay sexuality without agenda. I do not want anybody trying to cram gay sex down my kid’s throat (pun almost intended).
This is well worth looking at since we are bashing public schools this morning. The column can be found in Town Hall You can access it directly at Minors Study Gay Literature In High School

TROUBLE AHEAD FOR HOMESCHOOLING?
Caveats: Homeschoolers must realize excellence in academics is only one reason for homeschooling. The protection of the hearts, minds and souls of our children is paramount. Liberty is the reason for homeschooling. When you use academics as your only measuring stick you are falling into a trap. If your goal is only to score ten points higher in all the measures used by the Establishment, you probably need better reasons to homeschool.
In 1938 Adolph Hitler put an end to all home schooling. He did so to ensure that the children of the Third Reich would grow up with only pure Nazi thoughts ringing in their heads. Today’s Germany still holds to the same Nazi-era law. A home schooled child will most likely be taken away from the parents to become a ward of the state.
In 2008 our cousins on the West Coast, a place called California (‘Kalifornia’ in the article) have outlawed most home schooling, permitting it only if the parents meet the state’s stringent requirements for holding teaching certification. From now on home schooling parents and their offspring are outlaws pure and simple.
We have here one heck of an article by Bill Huff called School’s Open: HIDE THE KIDS which appeared on Lew Rockwell and explores the homeschooling issue from several perspectives.
To understand it, you must be open to the premise that possibly, just possibly. The U.S. Department of Education exists in part to dumb down American kids and turn them into compliant, unquestioning citizens.
We say ‘Robots’; you say ‘good citizens’.
Check it out for yourself and get back to me. I know several families who are homeschooling and the kids are perfectly normal with just slightly elevated I.Q.’s.

Catching Wild Pigs
Here is a little story from a regular reader.
This is the best analogy that I have ever read. Probably should be mandatory reading for all Americans this election year.!!!!!!!!
There was a professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.
The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.
In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, ' Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'
The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line.
The young man said this was no joke.' You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.
Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in th e woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.
The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, free medical, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms - just a little at a time.
One should always remember 'There is no such thing as a free Lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.
Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably delete this email, but God help you when the gate slams shut!
'A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have.' ....... Thomas Jefferson

Should Governor Spitzer Step Down?
Hell no.
Only Republican politicians resign when caught with the hand in the nookie jar.
Spitzer needs continue in office, possibly deliver the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in August and....
And....
And just possibly be nominated as Obama's running mate in the race for the roses.
Now it wouldn't work if Hillary is the POTUS nominee. They are both from New York, you see.
Well, she pretends to be from NY and that's where she got her senate seat..

Under The Weather
I don’t think it’s the flu, but something has me in a pretty nasty grip.
“There’s something going around.” Always is. Schools and work places recycle microbes, spreading the wealth to everyman.
Whatever this is has been. For forty-eight hours, confined to my head…sinuses, headache, accompanied by post nasal flood. Hasn’t reached the throat or chest (yet).
If you don’t see much coming out of this space in the next day or two, it means only that yours truly has been floored by a bug. Fortunately I don’t get sick very often, and usually shake things off after a few hours.
Ciao.

BAPTIST
NEWSLETTER
Coinciding locally with the guilty verdicts handed down earlier today in the case of the Reverend Oslo Ross of some fifty-two of fifty-four charges brought against him, our good friends at LANDOVER BAPTIST have sent out their monthly newsletter.
We are not suggesting that Landover is in any way connected with the Reverend Ross or vice versa. It is simply that the two events came together at the same time as Governor’s Spitzer’s (DNY) “mea culpa” was heard across the land, which makes us think that there is serious trouble ahead for those who do not cleave to the godly teachings and ministrations of Landover Baptist.
You can read the newsletter HERE
The experience might arouse anger in some, but righteous anger is generally a good thing, isn’t it?

IT'S ALL OVER BUT THE DIRTY POLITICS
IT'S ALL OVER BUT THE DIRTY POLITICS
(Note to Obama) The next time Hillary uses the recycled red phone ad, counter with one of your own. When the phone rings in the middle of the night, have a woman’s voice, with a flat Midwestern accent, answer it and say, “Hold on” into the receiver. Then she should shout, “Bill! It’s for you!”
Two columns from Dick Morris this weekend, one after the other. The first is a neat little thing called It’s Over which details how, given the remaining Primaries and Cauci, there will be no resolution of the Dem Frontrunner question until it is decided by the August Convention.
Where it might be stolen by super delegates…if they dare.
Good stuff. First appeared a couple of days ago on THE HILL.
Take care. I ssem to have developed a nasty cold. Might be from the exhilaration of shooting so well in the gorgeous Georgia sunshine all yesterday afternoon.

MIKE ADAMS JOINS IN SYMPATHY WITH

FEMINISTS HAVE ALL THE FUN
i will also ban the word “man,” replacing it with the word “person.” In fact, wherever the letters “m,” “a,” and “n” appear consecutively within a word, they will be replaced with the word “person.” This will be difficult but we will person-age. Some examples follow:…..
ann coulter’s support of hillary clinton is a silly publicity person-euver.
A Mike Adams column written for those of us who have been called ‘male chauvinist pigs’, and those who consider themselves extreme ‘feminists’. It gladdens the heart to read. Just be careful, because some feminists consider the use of capital letters to be anti-female, he has graciously refused to capitalize anything in the essay.
The premise of the piece ”but i write today, not for the purpose of ridiculing this seemingly outlandish feminist censorship. in fact, i’ve decided to join in with some new class rules i’ll use from now on (but not NOW on).”
Have fun with this one.

BALLAD OF THE GREEN BERETS
Been playing around YOU TUBE this morning waiting for the Met to bring us an afternoon performence of a brand new Lucia Di Lammermoor, an Italian opera set in Scotland, sort of like Verdi’s MACBET, with an equally tragic ending.
And I found the following video, updated from the 1960’s when a young staff sergeant named Barry Sadler sang BALLAD OF THE GREEN BERETS whose sentiment flew in the face of the anti war cacophony that rocked this nation then. The video is updated, the words may be changed slightly, but the music, the spirit, and feeling remain very powerful.
Take a minute and click on UPDATED BALLAD OF THE GREEN BERETS Then pause for a moment and ask yourself where this country is headed?

We are grateful to friend Riverside Red for the following article gleaned from the online edition of the ATHENS BANNER-HERALD.
The unctious, sob-sister style notwithstanding, the piece gives us a pretty good look into the senseless death of a brilliant, caring twenty-two-year-old Clarke Central graduate, slain on or near her campus home in Chapel Hill.
What Eve Carson was doing out and about in the early hours of ther morning is not important. That she was killed by a coward with a gun is. I will bet all the money I have the killer did not own the weapon legally nor did he have a legitimate state-issued carry permit.
Legitmate gun owners simply do not break the law and can do much to protect others.

THE SLAUGHTER GOES ON
and
GUN CONTROL IS NOT THE ANSWER
and
GUN CONTROL IS NOT THE ANSWER
Our colleges and universities have become the newest killing grounds for psychotics with access to firearms.
I don’t know if the number of sicko Americans is on the rise, but I do know there is one very good reason for the ongoing slaughter.
It is the very same reason why places like malls and certain workplaces are prime areas for death by an element of society not worth our sympathy.
By putting up a sign reading GUN FREE ZONE, or legislating that guns are now outlawed inside and on the grounds of certain institutions, we make sure such places become potential war zones between the heavily armed predator and innocents who have been deprived of the means to defend themselves.
Line them up for slaughter. Don’t give them a fighting chance. Encourage ever more deadly copy-cats nurturing a senseless grudge or seeking fifteen seconds of fame.
GUN FREE ZONES are killing us. What is obviously needed is not more restrictive gun laws, but encouragement for the legally armed citizen to use his firearm to protect himself and others. The idiot who thinks that a high school or college administrator might well be armed and willing to use his weapon in defense of kids entrusted to his care, is far less likely to open fire.
Many years ago I was told by my headmaster to, “Go! Get your gun from your car and take care of that water moccasin threatening our kindergarten kids.” No question about wimpdom or politically correct hand-wringing.

MIKE ADAMS CONSIGNS HIS ANN COULTER DOLL TO THE DUNG HEAP OF LIBERALITY
So, please, join me in imaging the following three-part scenario: 1) the choice for President comes down to McCain and Clinton; 2) Ann Coulter sticks by her guns and supports her “girl” Hillary; 3) Clinton is elected.
Almost two weeks since his last Column, Mike Adams returns to Town Hall overnight and with all his acerbic wit fully engaged, announces that he will now throw away his favorite toy, his precious Ann Coulter doll.l.
She is supporting Hillary.
It is a very funny column and a great, short read. Don’t want to give this one away so read it for yourself at ANN COULTER’s CONSERVATIVE SELL-OUT
Glad the good professor is back and kicking ass while taking names.

A JOB OFFER FOR
Charles Richardson

Possibly Others
A JOB OFFER FOR
Charles Richardson
Phil Dodson
Possibly Others
We received an email last night from a regular reader and fellow writer that contained a story from THE SACRAMENTO BUSINESS JOURNAL which shows that McClatchy, the parent company of our very own MACON TELEGRAPH has posted a $1.47 billion write-off, or non-cash charge, bringing the company’s losses for 2007 to approximately $2.7 billion. That’s dollars. I can’t even think of losses that high.
You can read the entire SBJ article by clicking on MORE (below), but the enormous losses are only tangential to our proposal.
When a huge corporation Like McClatchy gets hit this badly, the effects trickle down even unto the least of these our brethren. Our concern is for the employees of the local BLATT AND BUGLE. Says our source, ” McClatchy is parent of The Telegraph. I hope they don't try to cut staff back any further than they already have, we'll end up having to write our own news..”
So, in the interest of fair and balanced compassionate conservatism I would like here and now to extend the offer of a job here at THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO LUKE, to either Charles Richardson or Phil Dodson should the axe fall at the T’GRAPH. Finances dictate that I can only offer once place.
Lizz Fabian, for her superb multi media skills, or Candice Dyer, for her extraordinary command of the Mother Tongue, or Dan Maley, whose extensive writings on the music scene are some of best in the business, any one of these might have been my first choice. But Lizzy is Busy, Candice moved to Atlanta where she rocks as a free lancer, and we just don’t cover the club circuit enough to keep Mr. Maley sufficiently occupied. That leaves us with Charles and Phil, both of whom are excellent writers of opinion.
Now that’s ‘excellent writers’, not ‘excellent opinion’. Because, more often as not, their opinions smack of left leaning, politically flatulent, knee-jerk notions so favored by the Party of the Mythic Jackass. Let’s face it, despite some ‘balance’ provided by out of town columnists and a few letter writers, the editorial positions generally taken by the local paper is, by its own admission, inclined to the gauche.
So, should the worst happen and you get pinked-slipped by the T’GRAPH, get in touch with me at once. There will have to be a couple of things understood: (1) The relative focus of your writing must return to the center or slightly (but only slightly) to the right of center; (2) THE GOSPEL can’t afford to pay you what your probably think you are worth. Also, we don’t offer medical or dental insurance, tort liability insurance, a travel allowance, or any manner of a retirement plan. That didn’t seem like a good idea since yours truly is already retired.
Of course, THE GOSPEL would be willing to talk to other T’GRAPH folks should the need arise. But the chances of employment beyond what has been discussed here are slim to none.
Very Truly Yours in the Editorial B’logosphere,
PS....Don't forget to click MORE to read the entire SBJ article.

A MOST EXCELLENT COLUMN ON
HELLER
vs
THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
HELLER
vs
THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
Judge Alex Kozinski of the Ninth Circuit stated in Silviera v. Lockyer that “tyranny thrives best where government need not fear the wrath of an armed people.” Calling the Second Amendment a “doomsday provision,” Judge Kozinski warned that assuming you can never lose your freedom “is a mistake a free people get to make only once.” Those were the framers’ concerns when they wrote and ratified the Bill of Rights.
Here is TOWN HALL’S latest contribution to the Heller case now working its way through the United States Supreme Court.
Heller Case? That’s the one where our Second Amendment rights may be decided in a few weeks. In District of Columbia vs Heller the most restrictive gun law in the entire United States, one putting strictures on gun owners so invasive, that it is impossible for a resident to use any pistol, rifle, or shotgun to defend himself or his family in his own home, is up for consideration by the Court.
The column is co-written by Ken Blackwell and Sandy Froman. He was once a liberal, Black urban dweller who never owned a gun; she a west Coast Jewess to whom guns were anathema. Both are now entirely committed to the cause of gun ownership. To quote their Town Hall mini-bios: ”Ms. Froman is the immediate past president of the National Rifle Association of America and a practicing attorney in Tucson, Arizona. Mr. Blackwell is the former mayor of Cincinnati and a fellow at the American Civil Rights Union.”
When I first looked at the title of the piece and the names of the authors, it was “Boy oh boy, this will be good.”
And it was….better than expected.
Please read it. Or half of it, for we must wait a week for Part Two (and last). In a nutshell it presents a good, thoughtful analysis of Amendment Two…what it means, how it is variously interpreted, and what it means for the basic liberties of all Americans.
You will find it at: Judging Gun Rights: Are the inalienable?
Great stuff.

WHAT OBAMA NEEDS TO DO NOW
WHAT OBAMA NEEDS TO DO NOW
”The battle of Hillary is over. The battle of Obama has begun. By losing in almost a dozen consecutive primaries and caucuses, Hillary had shifted the spotlight to Obama in the late days of the Texas and Ohio campaigns. The question of his readiness and experience loomed ever larger in the minds of the media and of voters. Her Red Phone ad, citing her supposedly superior readiness to be commander in chief, evidently cut deeply among the electorate.”
Didn’t take Dick Morris long to weigh in following Obama’s defeats in yesterday’s primaries.
He makes several points in this brief column….it’s time for Obama to get tough with Hillary. He needs to demand that she release her tax returns, that her relationship with Norman Hsu be fully explained, and that we finally get a look into the close ties between Husband Bill and the oil princes of Dubai. Obama has some baggage that the Clintons have never exploited, but, Mr. Morris reasons,. She has more dirty laundry than he.
It could be a dirty campaign played out in the mud of the Part of the Mythic Jackass.
You will find it all right here: OBAMA NEEDS TO GET TOUGH
If the Obama folks are paying attention, Mr. Morris has just laid out what should be their game plan over the next few primaries. Hillary Clinton is far from being counted out.

FROM THE JPFO
WHAT TO DO WHEN A FOREIGN ARMY SHOWS UP AT YOUR DOOR.
WHAT TO DO WHEN A FOREIGN ARMY SHOWS UP AT YOUR DOOR.
”And what happens when you put on a uniform and take a solemn oath to obey the orders of those who claim to be your superiors? Will you kick down the door of an 80-year-old veteran, and when he won't let you take his trusty Garand, smash his teeth in with your rifle butt? Of course you will, because that's what you've been told to do, and besides, everybody else is doing it. Later on, you can always say you were "just following orders", like the Nazi concentration camp guards did.
Don't tell us that you won't. We know too much about history and human nature. The Roman thug who shish-kebabbed Archimedes probably had a wife and kids he enjoyed taking to the Colosseum to see all the latest gladiators. He may have recited -- or even written -- poetry or knew a lot about wine. But when his moral turning-point arrived, he shoved eighteen inches of bronze gladius* through the solar plexus of the world's greatest physicist, exactly as his centurion had told him to.
‘I was just following orders.’”
You may recall that I have mentioned herein an organization called the JPFO or JEWS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FIREARMS OWNERSHIP. They are a great group of guys. More aggressive than the rather timid NRA who wage a no-holds-barred war against the forces of those who would diminish our freedoms.
Recently the President signed an executive order which permitted Canadian Troops to enter the United States, if invited, to help restore order. The arrangement with the government in Ottawa is reciprocal, our troops can be invited to quell riot in the Great White North.
Hold it!! I guess that means some day, if flood, famine, and blizzard overpower Buffalo, those streets will be guarded by the Royal Canadian Army. Eh? If, as happened in New Orleans, guns are confiscated at the insistence of either civilian or military authority it will be bereted Canucks who will do the bidding of King George, or King Obama, or Queen Hillary?
It is not treason for me to say here and now that if a foreign soldier attempts to relieve me of a single firearm, his life insurance better be paid up because it will be he or I who sooner meets eternity. I don’t care who invites foreign mercenaries to patrol the sovereign soil of these United States of America. They are not the ‘sovereign states of any fictitious North American Union.’
Today;s JPFO Newsletter references an excellent article by L. Neil Smith entitled THE CANADIANS ARE COMING; THE CANADIANS ARE COMING which presents the whole scenario in exactly the right light. I urge you to read it carefully and then check out the JPFO Website yourself at: http://www.jpfo.org/index.htm
Great stuff. Remember, it is THE SECOND AMENDMENT that guarantees the liberties of the others. Without the Second, there would be liberty at all.
*The sword that killed Archimedes was of iron, the favored material for edged Roman weapons. According to ancient sources it is of the greatest irony that the Roman leadership gave orders that the scientist was to be captured alive and preserved safely. Guess the goon who killed him was not following any centurion’s orders back in 212 B.C.

Well, it isn’t really that interesting but some will find it so. Benny Shanon, a Psych Prof at Hebrew University thinks the old boy was using psychadellic drugs when he came down the mountain bearing the tablets of the law.
Likewise, when he saw the burning bush.
Now drug use could go a long way to explaining some of the better-known Biblical miracles, or unusual events, but the idea will never take hold here in the buckle of the Bible Belt. Read it for yourself at MOSES HIGH ON MOUNT SINAI
Guess I better send the link along to my friends and neighbors who just happen to be Baptist preachers. Always like to test the level of humor they arer willing to tolerate.
What will they think of next?

Setting The Record Straight
A Telephone Conversation
with
Charles Bishop
A Telephone Conversation
with
Charles Bishop
I got a telephone call from Bibb County Commissioner Charles Bishop yesterday afternoon.
He phoned to correct a couple of impressions made by my articles on the Friday radio dust-up over at WMAC, 940 on your AM dial. .
I cannot recall a more gracious or more communicative telephone conversation with another person in my nearly seventy years. We talked far longer than either of us anticipated. It was a treat for me because it provided a fascinating glimpse into the mind of one of our local elected leaders. We spoke candidly. It was an eye-opening free exchange of ideas.
Let’s set the record straight on a couple of things. Mr. Bishop did not send a son to the station to ‘straighten out’ anybody. One adult son did go down to the station but spoke to nobody. He certainly acted on his own as a member of a loving, supportive family.
This, incidentally, as the father of grown men, I applaud.
Further, Mr. Bishop never ‘hung up’ on Ron Frazier. His cell phone apparently dropped the call. Interesting to me especially since there was a place during our conversation when his cell started to fade and a cut off seemed imminent.
Me? I don’t own a cell. My little BIG LOTS phone sits here on my desk. It exist for but one purpose….verbal communication.
And Chairman Bishop is a wonderful communicator. But he, like myself, is a member of a generation of folks who tend to take their time and choose their words with extreme care. We are not ‘sound-byte’ people. We tend to have long attention spans and were not raised on MTV videos and twenty-second news flashes from 24/7 channels. It may be that in the rush and crush of on-air broadcasting there was miscommunication about both the intent and content of Bishop’s remarks.
I do feel certain about this much: Mr. Bishop called the station to correct an error of fact that had gone out over the airwaves. There was nothing sinister, intimidating, nor underhanded about anything he did or said Charlie Bishop is most definitely a man of great personal integrity.
I will tell you this much. When I put down the phone yesterday I ‘came away with a different point of view’, to quote Johnny Cash (A Boy Named Sue’). I found myself caught up in the words and thoughts of a man of honor who has served the people of Macon and Bibb County in several capacities over a lifetime. We talked of the past, but mostly of the future. A future where prosperity is tied in to growth, city and county growth, of course, but also regional. Middle Georgia is a sleeping economic giant, but it needs men and women who can see the larger picture of a multi-county approach to the all important issues of economic expansion, education, quality of life, and full employment.
Mr. Bishop is just such a man.
Talking to him yesterday was a pleasure.

Asymmetrical Warfare’
PART ONE
PART ONE
Zahra Maladan represents a dramatic shift in the way we must fight to protect our citizens against enemies who are sworn to kill them by killing themselves. The traditional paradigm was that mothers who love their children want them to live in peace, marry and produce grandchildren. Women in general, and mothers in particular, were seen as a counterweight to male belligerence. The picture of the mother weeping as her son is led off to battle -- even a just battle -- has been a constant and powerful image.
I ran across two very interesting articles today on the concept of ‘Asymmetrical Warfare’, a subject not often clear to the folks back home, but which soldiers at all levels face daily in places like Gaza, Iraq, Afghanistan…..anywhere American or European troops are engaged against a less technological enemy.
Classical Warfare is supposed to be between opposing armies composed of soldiers. They fight one another, one side wins, the other loses. What is not in the equation are civilians, anybody’s civilians. They are simply not to be used by combatants in any way.
Forget what happened in Dresden.
Doesn’t always work. The majority of dirty little wars being waged today are against a foe that does everything it can to bring civilians, children even, into the fray. Suicide bombers are not ‘soldiers’, almost impossible to tell the bomber from the woman carrying a baby or a basket of fresh fruit.
It gets very complicated, of course. In the case of our war with Muslim terrorists, we try to fight more or less by the normal rules of engagement recognized by most armed services in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The Rad Muslim does everything he can to utilize civilians as spies, killers, hoarders of arms and ammunition, and human shields.
The biggest coup of all is to get children killed or, better, maimed….then paraded before the cameras of the wold’s press who carry the plight of the victims back to the folks in the homeland. Cripple a kid, score a propaganda victory.
The first article appeared yesterday in the Wall Street Journal and was sent to us by the great folks at The American Congress for Truth. It is written by Harvard’s ALAN DERSHOWITZ and titled Worshippers of Death
Will present the second article tomorrow.

We are grateful to our buddy Riverside Red for the following.
My family and friends north of the Mason-Dixon line (and one of them is a chap named Dixon, an old buddy from decades back) won't undewrstand why I still get goosebumps when I hear the National Anthem sung....PROPERLY.
And I don't mean by one of those misnamed 'divas' who warble and retch their way through the Anthem as if they were playing to a packed house of drooling Gen-X'ers.
This is cute, adorable, and the singing of this young girls will send shivers up your patriotic spine.

PUNDITS
Primaries today in Texas and Ohio.
(Not to mention Vermont and Rhode Island, which we won’t (mention) except to say that tiny little Rhodie is proud of the fact that it is included among the original thirteen colonies, while it is to the everlasting shame of the maple syrup state that it missed the cut and came in a belated fourteenth on a scale of one to fifty.)
Many major media pundits are telling us that this is Hillary’s last chance to stay in the candidate race, and she must win both primaries, and win them big. She will be toast if she fails.
Nonsense!!! Win, lose, or draw Ms. Clinton will still be a candidate tomorrow (and tomorrow, and tomorrow), a candidate with every bit as much expectation of being her party’s standard bearer in the fall as she did a few months ago when she was the presumptive Democrat choice.
I guess there are so many pundits out there these days with so many pundit-type outlets to spew their ‘thinking’ that it is easy for them to get confused. We assume they read one another’s punditry, probably regularly, so they know what other pundits are punditing about. The fact that print and electronic media, as well as some of the wealthier ‘blogs’ give paid employment to so many thousands of punditing pundits probably helps the national unemployment figures, but it sure as hell confuses John. Q. Publicus, which includes everybody who is not a pundit or a pollster, although many pollsters pose as pundits.
Screw the pundits, full speed ahead.
Screw the pollsters, too, while we’re at it.
As has been pointed out here so often, against the brilliance and eclat of the likes of Dick Morris, Jamie Dupree and what’s his face, you know the guy I mean, the Clinton Machine, created more than twenty years ago, is the most powerful political entity ever created in these United States. No matter what it takes, Her Nibs will not be denied.

FIRE WINS A BIG ONE AT VALDOSTA STATE UNIVERSITY
We have reported in this space the unholy situation at Valdosta State University in extreme South Georgia where Ronald Zaccari, the University President, sacked a student, a certain Thomas Hayden Barnes for the simple exerciser of his basic free-speech rights. The ousted student appealed to FIRE, a legal organization devoted to protecting the First Amendment rights of members of college and university communities..
Fire acted and in January, ’08, a year following Barne’s expulsion, the Georgia Board of Regents reversed the president’s decision inviting Mr. Barnes to re-enter the VSU Community. A federal lawsuit has been filed, “(which) alleges constitutional violations and emphasizes VSU President Ronald Zaccari's irrational insistence that Barnes represented a threat and a ‘clear and present danger,’ despite findings to the contrary by mental health professionals. The lawsuit is ongoing.” The kid is half way home.
Here are two links that you will want to take a look at. The first is a short film put out by FIRE which presents a close look at both the Barnes case and the concept of ‘free speech zones’ at some of our universities. VSU, for instance, allowed students to air their views and grievances in a tiny corner of that enormous university and only a couple of hours a week. The restrictions are clearly a negating of students’ right of self-expression. The video can be accessed here: http://thefire.org/index.php/video/9007 The text of the article will be found here: http://thefire.org/index.php/article/9009.html
Big Brother is alive and doing very well in higher education.
Don’t think that all attempts by academe to inflict some radical form of thought and speech control on students are found only in ultra liberal Northern and Western college campi. Here is a blatant case in our own back yard right here in Conservative Georgia. A university establishes a highly restrictive ‘free speech zone’ and bans freedom of speech from the rest of the school. Simple, effective. Let’s teach our young people only what their leftist professors want them to learn.

OPEN LETTER TO A XENOPHOBIC CRETIN
In the waning moments of Friday’s talk radio donnybrook, Shane McBryde read an email from somebody who appeared to be a supporter of Chairman Bishop.
I don’t know who wrote it; don’t recall that a name was ever given. The letter was in obvious response to comments Mr. McBryde made as indicated elsewhere on this b’log.
“It was a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” (Will Shakespeare) The writer of the letter read on air is just such an idiot.
The email was disturbing in that it brought to the forefront all the insular xenophobia that has long plagued our section of the country. Xenophobia, of course, means fear or distrust of somebody who ‘ain’t from here’, a statement indicating that only somebody born, bred, raised, and living in the region has any right to make a decision or have an opinion about important issues.
“You ain’t from around here,” is rhetorically balanced by, “If you don’t like it, why don’t you go back to where you come from?”, all of which sounds shockingly like a once common phrase, “We ought to send all THEM back to Africa.”
It is difficult to imagine a mindset, here almost a decade in the twenty-first century, that thinks along these lines. When I first arrived on the Ocmulgee shores almost thirty-two years ago, I heard the jingo-lingo quite frequently. All the time, actually. As an educator it was assumed that I had absolutely no right to bring new ideas into the region’s schools.
Things have gotten better locally, of course. But the old fear and distrust of ‘y’all ain’t from around here’ lingers on and comes to light just often enough in statements like the email in question to make one wonder if there is any viability in Macon or will we go the way of the dinosaur.
It was just such a dinosaur that sent the email to McBryde.

BIG BAD WOLF, PART TWO
LIMP-WRISTED RADIO MANAGEMENT
and
POLITICS BY INTIMIDATION
LIMP-WRISTED RADIO MANAGEMENT
and
POLITICS BY INTIMIDATION
Llistening to 940 radio right now and the discussion centers primarily on the Friday flaplet reported here yesterday.
Apparently, according to Ron Frazier, The Gospel According To Luke ‘got it pretty close to right. He corrected a couple of minor details.
Two things seem to be coming out of the current discussion. First that Mr. Mc Bride was asked ‘to take a couple of days off to diffuse the situation’ and Second, that Chairman Bishop is not beneath using old fashioned, arm twisting intimidation to get his way or, at least, his point across.
I fault the management of the station, which happens to be part of the Cumulus Broadcasting empire, for caving in so quickly to a potentially prickly situation. McBryde had barely made his ‘hillbilly politicians’ remark when some idiot in management, fearing the unknown, forced him away from his microphone for a couple of days lest he make too many waves. Dammit, talk radio is supposed to make waves. Talk radio thrives on controversy. It is hoped that the seeming, nerdy ‘wussification’ of Cumulus will not put politically correct blinders on our local guys.
Also, Chairman Bishop has a temper, and that much is fine. But he has no business in resorting to blatant intimidation to get his way. Sending his son to ‘talk to’ the radio hosts smacks of kind of ‘I’ll break your legs’ tactics favored by Mob-supported Boston Politicians in the era decades ago when I lived inside that city.
I knew some of these guys long ago. The media might describe them as ‘colorful’, yet they were anything but pretty.

DID THE BIG BAD WOLF COME VISITING 940 AM FRIDAY MORNING???
Boy are the rumors flying.
Rumors? Yeah, boss!! Rumors about what went down during the last hour of the Morning Show with Ron Frazier and Shane McBryde.
Seems there was something of a dust-up, a row, an on-air spat between the radio guys and Charlie Bishop Chairman of the Bibb County Commission.
I didn’t hear much of it myself. Just as I headed out the door to scatter seed for the local birds, I heard Mr. Bishop calling into the station. I remember vaguely that he was correcting something Mr. McBryde had said about the number of times the Commission had raised taxes recently. When I came back Shane was in high dudgeon and very angry.
Now, telly you my version of the truth, I don’t trust anybody who doesn’t have a healthy temper, folks. They say I have one myself. Tempers are a good thing. Sets us apart from the wusses.
At this point I did not hear Shane mention Mr. Bishop by name, but he was carrying on about ‘hillbilly politicians’ and saying that he refused to be cowed by any elected officials. This at some length. Ron Frazier mentioned during the rant that he had been talking to the Chairman and was hung up on.
Later that morning I called Mr. Frazier and he indicated that there had been something of an argument and that the phone went dead as he talked off-air to Mr. Bishop. I also emailed Mr. Bishop who attempted to call back but I was out. He left the following email:
“Lost cell phone signal with Ron. Called back immediately. Was told by call taker that a female guest was on hold and he could not put me through”
So far so good. Guys get into a dustup, words fly, a loss of cell phone service is a very real possibility I guess and I can only guess because I don’t use or own one.
But all weekend long I have been dogged by questions about the spat. One very reliable correspondent sent me what he says is an email he received from somebody (name unknown) which sheds a whole different light on the argument. I have no idea if it is true or not, but it underscores some of the rumors circulating about Friday morning last. Personally I don’t trust second and third hand emails any more than I do spam ads for male enhancement.
"A friend told me about this yesterday, but I got busy and forgot to send it out. Charlie Bishop called into the local talk radio station (940 AM?) yesterday morning, got into a shouting match with the two radio hosts, called one of them a redneck, and sent his son down to the station to have a little chat with the two announcers. From what I understand he lost his temper in a big way and made a complete ass of himself and the radio announcers were not happy with the threats. Can anyone get a transcript of the heated exchange from the station?"
Calling a radio host ‘a redneck’, sending a son down to the station ‘to have a little chat’ all smacks of low down and dirty intimidation, if true. But I have nothing to corroborate anything beyond my conversation with Ron Frazier and the email from Chairman Bishop.
You can bet your bottom buck that this senior citizen will not miss a minute of tomorrow’s show. Shane is taking a day or two off and will be replaced, we are told, by Charles Richardson, one of the editorial gang of four over at the MACON T’GRAPH, AKA THE DAILY BLATT AND BUGLE. But “Fearless Ron Frazier” will be on hand; Ron runs from no evil and shrinks from neither man nor beast.
Will the whole ‘Affair Bishop’ be a mere blip in the road as we work our way painfully toward the Fall commission election, or will we be treated to a major donnybrook? Will we have a genuine, first rate bruhaha on our hands or merely a tepid bruteehee?
Time will tell! Tune in tomorrow at 6:00 AM.
I would like a transcript, too.

PROFESSOR
But Not Full Professor*
MIKE ADAMS
Two separate emails today asked why I haven'ty made any reference to Mike Adams in almost a week. The answer is simple enough, last Monday was his last Town Hall article that I have any knowledge of.
Mike has just had his latest book (FEMINISTS SAY THE DARNDEST THINGS) published and I suspect that what time he can spare from teaching, solving crime, buying and testing new firearms, and the little woman is taken up by book promotion. Maybe he is on book tour where you wake up alone in a different hotel room every night wondering where you are and what you did the night before.
See if he comes back online Monday. In the meantime buy the book....I don't even get a cut for all the promotinmg I do for the guy.
*Professor Adams is involved in a heady litigation with his university, UNC-WILMINGTON, over, among other things, why he whas not been promoted to full professor even though his publishing record would make a lesser man (or woman) perish.

DICK MORRIS ON
HILLARY'S DECLINE AND FALL
HUBRIS and NEMESIS ALONG THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL
HILLARY'S DECLINE AND FALL
HUBRIS and NEMESIS ALONG THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL
She’s found her voice. The one that so alienated everyone she came into contact with over her health care plan that her own party destroyed it. The one that publicly and loudly defended Bill and arranged for attacks on Monica Lewinsky when she knew the complete and sordid truth. She’s always had a chip on her shoulder and a strange paranoia, but it’s definitely gotten worse. Now it’s not just the vast right wing conspiracy that is out to get her. Now it’s the mainstream media. How are they doing that? By asking her the first questions at the debates!
This is easily the most powerful and most passionate column Mr. Morris has unleashed against Hillary Clinton in a long, long time. It underscores her reliance on bully tactics, secrecy, and blame as she clawed her way from Arkansas to the summit of Washington insider power.
Morris suggests that her apparent dissolution in the public eye is the result of a life-long hubris which makes it impossible for her to understand that her tactics and personality have contributed to her rejection in the public’s mind. She, after all, has been the anointed one since her graduation from Wellesley College. Possibly before…..her people did dig up some signs of innate ambition in the artwork and writings of a five-year-old Barack Hussein Obama.
Dick doesn’t come out and say it, but Hill’s fall from grace has all the elements of a Greek Drama. Wonder if it will someday reach the stage as a play or, even better, an opera.
Be sure to check this one out for yourself at HILLARY UNMASKED
